Chapter 4: The Wicked Stepmother Who Abandoned the Twins (4)
"Who did this? Don't you know to take the children to the doctor when they're sick?" Wen Wan shouted at the two children with a sincere expression, displaying the exaggerated acting skills she had developed from watching melodramatic dramas over the past twenty years.
The nanny quickly replied, "Madam, didn't you say that no matter what happens, we shouldn't let them out?"
"Didn't you understand that I was just saying that out of anger?"
As long as she can shift the blame quickly, the blame won't be able to keep up.
Then, her eyes reddened, "These two children are my own flesh and blood, how could I let them suffer? Tell me, how could I bear it?"
nanny:"???"
What's going on?
Is this lady insane?
Wen Wan pushed the nanny aside and rushed over, intending to carry Gu Jiao to the doctor, but how could Gu Xuan let this vicious woman take his sister away?
Who knows what she's going to do to Jiaojiao?
So he pounced on her and bit Wen Wan's arm hard.
Just like a puppy.
Wen Wan almost screamed in pain. With her other hand, she touched Gu Jiao's face. Little Gu Jiao was not very conscious and was delirious with fever. They had to find a doctor quickly.
He said to the nanny, "Go find Dr. Chen and bring over a basin of clean water. Also, prepare some alcohol and medical cotton. Quickly tell the kitchen to prepare more porridge, just add some dried shrimp, and don't make it too oily."
Dr. Chen is a family doctor who takes care of the family.
Soon the nanny brought over everything Wen Wan wanted.
"Pull Xuanxuan away from me," Wen Wan continued. The child was really going crazy, trying to bite off a piece of her flesh.
Gu Xuan was being dragged by the nanny, her voice hoarse from shouting, and she kicked her legs forward with all her might, "Let go of my sister! If you dare to hurt my sister, Dad will definitely not let you off when he comes back. You vicious woman, you don't deserve to be a mother."
Wen Wan: Of course she knows.
Wen Wan diluted the alcohol, then dampened a cotton cloth and began wiping Gu Jiao's hands, feet, neck, and back.
My darling! You can't be hurt!
If anything happens to you, your dad will break my legs when he gets back.
After half an hour, Nan Li felt the child's temperature begin to drop, and she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Just then, the doctor arrived, and Wen Wan handed Gu Jiao over to the doctor.
When she relaxed, Wen Wan slumped to one side, covered in cold sweat.
If she had arrived even a moment later, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
Gu Xuan stood by the bed, watching his younger sister nervously and holding her hand.
"Uncle Chen, is my sister alright?"
Dr. Chen: "It's alright. I gave her a fever-reducing injection. If her temperature drops tonight, there shouldn't be any major problems. I prescribed some medicine, and I'll write down the precautions for her to follow."
Dr. Chen wrote out a prescription, and Wen Wan waved to the nanny to go and buy it.
Then, belatedly, I realized that I myself seemed to be... also an injured person.
The puppy bit my hand; it has pretty good teeth.
"Dr. Chen, could you please take care of my hands while you're at it?"
Dr. Chen frowned when he saw the blood on Wen Wan's arm. "Was this a bite wound? It looks quite deep. I'll bandage it for you, but I didn't have any medication prepared in time. I'll come back in a couple of days to give you an injection."
"Thank you, Dr. Chen."
Have the nanny leave the doctor behind temporarily and prepare a clean guest room.
Then she brought the porridge over and handed it to Gu Xuan.
Gu Xuan: "I'm not hungry." He had no intention of eating this wicked woman's food.
His stomach growled as soon as he finished speaking, and Gu Xuan's face turned as red as a monkey's bottom.
He's still a baby who hasn't been weaned.
Wen Wan: "If you don't eat, and your sister wakes up and you fall ill again, how will you protect her? I was able to easily take her away just now, didn't you see?"
Gu Xuan picked up the bowl and began to drink the porridge. He needed to get better so he could protect his sister.
Wen Wan told the nanny to take good care of the two children, and then left, covering her arm.
Back in her room, Wen Wan's tears streamed down her face like a tap, her body convulsing in pain, a sight so exaggerated that even the system was bewildered.
