Chapter 33

Chapter 33

Ye Yan let out a heavy sigh of relief after leaving the study.

He rubbed his temples, somewhat regretting agreeing to stay overnight at the old house.

...So much time has passed, what's the point of bringing it up now?

Ye Yan thought to himself as he stepped into the room where he used to live.

"You're back?" Qin Su nestled on the sofa and looked up to greet him.

She was still wearing his suit jacket, which made her look somewhat petite against the backdrop of the oversized garment, and her bright eyes and brows also had a touch of gentleness.

Ye Yan's expression relaxed, and the tightness that had been lingering in his chest when he was facing Ye Hongchang dissipated.

He sat down next to her, pulled her into his arms, and couldn't help but bury his face in her neck and take two deep breaths.

Qin Su felt ticklish from his hair brushing against her, and turned her head to avoid it: "What are you doing? You're treating me like a cat as soon as you get back."

Ye Yan, incredibly audacious, not only didn't let go of her, but also asked, "What kind of cat can be as fragrant and soft as you?"

Qin Su thought about it for a moment and said, "Oh, there are many cute cats, but none as cute as me."

Ye Yan chuckled softly, his Adam's apple bobbing against Qin Su, sending a tingling sensation through him: "So you are one of a kind."

"Of course." Qin Su grabbed his hair and pulled him up, asking suspiciously, "Why have you been keeping your head down? Were you secretly crying?"

Ye Yan: "..."

He pinched Qin Su's cheek, refusing to accept such slander: "I haven't cried since I can remember."

Qin Su retorted defiantly, "Then you wait, I'll make you cry for me sooner or later."

The prophecy of fate was silently written at this moment, but the person involved was completely unaware.

Ye Yan merely curled the corners of his lips and teased her, "Then don't cry in bed next time."

"Huh? Who's crying? Me?" Qin Su denied it outright. "Those were physiological tears, not crying."

Ye Yan slowly said "Oh," and then asked, "Shall we try it now?"

When he wasn't serious, Qin Su was always very arrogant. He said with a grin, "Sure, but it's no fun here. Let's go somewhere else today."

"...?" These words left much to the imagination, and Ye Yan looked at her with surprise and uncertainty.

Qin Su grabbed a thick blanket from the bed and pulled him outside, saying, "Come on, let's go to a nice place."

She didn't seem to be joking.

Ye Yan asked in surprise, "So late?"

“It’s just that it’s so late,” Qin Su blurted out. “There’s no one around at night, so we can have an affair.”

Ye Yan: "..."

He didn't know where to begin complaining, so he could only correct him first: "Our relationship is legal."

Qin Su replied perfunctorily, "Yeah, isn't that better and more convenient?"

Ye Yan sighed, helpless.

Fortunately, he was very familiar with the Ye family's old residence, and after walking for a while, he guessed Qin Su's destination.

He had a rough idea in his mind and couldn't help but chuckle: "Did Uncle Zhang take you to the lotus pond this afternoon?"

Uncle Zhang is the steward of the manor.

Qin Su said, "Yes, he also scolded your father."

Ye Yan was taken aback, then laughed and cried at the same time: "How could that be? Uncle Zhang isn't that kind of person."

Qin Su said, "He talked about some things from the past. What's the difference between that and him scolding your father?"

Ye Yan: "..."

That's not wrong.

The two arrived at the lotus pond while they were talking.

Flowers and leaves are still, stars and moon fill the sky, and all around is quiet and deserted.

This place is filled with too many of his teenage anxieties and memories.

Ye Yan slowed his pace, his expression somewhat complicated.

But before he could even feel melancholy about the past, he saw Qin Su sit down in the pavilion with an eager look on her face and take off her shoes.

Ye Yan was startled and quickly grabbed her leg, whispering, "What are you doing? There are surveillance cameras all around."

"I know." Qin Su rolled her eyes at him. "What are you thinking? I just want to get on the ship."

Boat?

Ye Yan was taken aback, only then noticing the small boat moored on the lakeside below the pavilion.

Qin Su stepped on his foot and urged, "Hurry up, hurry up, take off your shoes too."

Ye Yan didn't know what she was going to do, so he could only do as she said, take off his shoes, and follow her onto the boat.

The facilities and equipment in the Ye family's house are usually cleaned and maintained, so even if no one has set foot in the cabin for a long time, it is still very clean.

However, the space on the ship was cramped, and the two of them, with their long arms and legs, felt very crowded inside.

Seeing Ye Yan's bewildered expression, Qin Su pulled him down to lie down.

She covered the two of them with the blankets she had brought, looked at the twinkling stars in the sky, and said happily, "It's nice, it's been a long time since I've slept on a ship."

Ye Yan didn't notice that she used "for a long time," and only heard that she wanted to sleep here, so he was taken aback and asked, "You're going to sleep here tonight?"

He thought Qin Su was just bringing him here for a short visit and that they would go back soon, but he didn't expect her to plan to stay overnight.

Qin Su replied matter-of-factly, "What's wrong with that?"

Ye Yan frowned: "No, this place is too small and uncomfortable. How can we spend the night here?"

Qin Su said, "You slept on it when you were a child, and now you're complaining about it?"

Ye Yan paused for a moment, slightly surprised: "Uncle Zhang even told you this?"

Qin Su laughed and said, "Yes, I heard that there used to be a child who would run here whenever he had troubles, and he would even sleep on the boat. That's why I'm taking you on a nostalgic trip."

Ye Yan also laughed.

He said in a low voice, "I was young then, and when I had troubles, I would try to hide away. A few times I fell asleep without realizing it, but I didn't always come back."

"And now?" Qin Su tilted her head to look at him. "What do you do now if you encounter troubles again?"

Ye Yan hadn't expected her to ask this, and after thinking for a moment, he said, "Let's just digest this slowly for now."

Qin Su: "So you mean no matter how annoying it is, you just keep it to yourself?"

She bluntly commented, "Then you haven't made any progress at all from childhood to adulthood."

Ye Yan wasn't annoyed by her scolding; he simply smoothed her hair and asked, "Then what should I do?"

"Of course, it's about solving the problem of your troubles. If you can't solve the problem of your troubles, then solve the problem of the person who's causing them trouble."

Qin Su spoke with conviction.

"Otherwise, you earn so much money every day just to make yourself feel resentful?"

Ye Yan was speechless.

“But you can’t easily deal with your dad either,” Qin Su muttered after thinking for a moment. “You still need to consider the law and morality.”

Ye Yan: "...Thank you for remembering that he is my father."

Qin Su said with a grin, "Since there's no way to deal with him, we'll have to think of another way."

Ye Yan followed up with her question: "What method?"

Qin Su: "The crushing memory method."

"As long as we do something enjoyable here, when you think of this place again, you'll think of happiness first, not trouble."

Ye Yan: "..."

Helplessly, he grabbed Qin Su's mischievous hand and stopped her, saying, "No, this place is too rudimentary."

Qin Su ignored him and struggled to roll over and pin him down: "Why are you always saying you can't do it? Are you impotent?"

She said those things again.

Ye Yan was so angry that the veins on his forehead throbbed.

Normally, if he were provoked like this, he would definitely teach Qin Su a lesson without hesitation, but the time and place were wrong today.

He tightened his grip, then sighed resignedly and hugged Qin Su: "Be good, stop making a fuss, it'll make you uncomfortable. Just a hug, just a hug will be fine."

Qin Su nestled against his chest and said mischievously, "But Sweet Potato doesn't seem to say that."

Ye Yan: "..."

He resigned himself to his fate, saying, "Ignore it."

He kissed Qin Su on the lips, pulled her into his arms, and sighed, "I'll just hold you like this."

Qin Su paused, lost in thought.

I could have done it, but I restrained myself from doing it...

She supported Ye Yan, then suddenly looked up and examined his expression closely.

Then Qin Su confirmed, "Ye Yan, you like me, don't you?"
