Chapter 27
On her way home, Qin Su passed by a large shopping mall and went in to buy a tie.
Seeing that she selected payment after just one glance, the system nervously wagged its tail: "Su Su, isn't the color of this one... a bit off?"
Qin Su took the packaged paper bag from the sales assistant and said without changing her expression, "No, this one is the most suitable."
The system seemed to want to say something but ultimately said nothing.
The sea was calm at night, and moonlight streamed across the water into the spacious living room.
All the lights in the living room were on, making the room as bright as day.
Qin Su immediately spotted Ye Yan sitting on the sofa, working.
He clearly heard the noise, but he didn't lift his head. His whole body was shrouded in frost, and the lines of his profile were taut, as if he was holding his breath.
Qin Su walked over casually, placed the gift bag next to him, and poured herself a glass of water: "Have you eaten?"
Ye Yan did not answer.
Qin Su then complained, "I haven't eaten yet."
Ye Yan paused slightly on the laptop keyboard, but still didn't speak.
His face clearly showed signs of an impending storm, his dark eyes seeming ready to unleash a tempest at any moment.
Qin Su, however, acted as if she couldn't see it.
She glanced at Ye Yan, displeased: "Are you deliberately ignoring me?"
She slammed the glass down on the glass coffee table with a loud bang, her voice slightly angry.
The sound wasn't loud, but it seemed particularly abrupt in the quiet living room at that moment.
Ye Yan felt a fire suddenly ignite in his heart, and he could no longer suppress his emotions.
He suddenly looked up, his eyes as cold as ice, his words like icy shards falling from the sky: "Do you even need me to talk to you?"
Qin Su was momentarily taken aback.
But immediately, her face darkened: "What do you mean?"
Ye Yan's internal organs were burning with evil fire, which made him lose most of his rationality. He immediately sneered, "Don't you know what I mean?"
He believed he had been more tolerant of Qin Su, making concessions for her time and time again, but how did Qin Su treat him?
He doesn't reply to messages all day, and he doesn't answer phone calls.
After finally getting through, the person on the other end was still someone named Zhao Nuannuan.
He has a very good memory; isn't Zhao Nuannuan the waitress he met at the restaurant?
Qin Su treated her differently back then, and they still keep in touch now.
Remembering how Qin Su used to go out to watch racing and not even come home for dinner, and now she's gone even further, ignoring him all day because of some random person.
Ye Yan felt both sour and angry.
He had never felt this way before, and he couldn't figure out exactly what this emotion was; he only knew he was angry.
He thought angrily that it wasn't a big deal, but he couldn't take it lightly, otherwise Qin Su would eventually take advantage of him.
Life is like a game of chess, where it's a constant back and forth, with one advancing while the other retreats, one attacking while the other defends. He can't keep giving in forever, or he'll eventually be routed and completely controlled by Qin Su.
He had to let Qin Su know that he could be good to her, but he also had his bottom line and principles.
He was determined to have a serious talk with Qin Su today, but Qin Su didn't play by the rules at all.
She stared at Ye Yan, her tone icy: "Are you yelling at me now?"
Ye Yan: "..."
President Ye, who has never been in a relationship, obviously doesn't understand that during an argument, women pay more attention to the other person's emotions and attitude than the content of the argument.
"Silence means consent?" Qin Su laughed in exasperation, then suddenly stood up. "Fine, you're something else, Ye Yan."
"Last night you were hugging and kissing me non-stop, and this morning before I left, we were still all lovey-dovey. Now you're giving me the cold shoulder and yelling at me?"
Her voice grew colder with each word, making her seem more like the one questioning Ye Yan than the one doing the questioning.
"You're asking me what I mean? I'd like to ask you what I mean! What? Did I do something heinous that you won't even acknowledge me when you get home?"
Ye Yan was shocked.
He never expected that she would accuse him first and then turn the tables on him.
"I'm ignoring you?" he asked incredulously, raising his voice, "Who's the one who doesn't reply to messages or answer calls all day? And now you're saying I'm ignoring you?"
Qin Su's voice was even louder than his: "Do you think I didn't want to reply to your messages? My phone wasn't even next to me at the time, how could I reply? Why don't you ask me what I've been up to all day and why I haven't had dinner yet?"
She declared firmly, "You don't care about me at all; you just want to yell at me!"
This statement is truly an unjust accusation.
Ye Yan immediately retorted, "I'm not!"
Qin Su sneered: "Then what are you doing now? You're talking to me with a stern face, do you think I owe you hundreds of millions?"
"..." Ye Yan felt speechless.
He didn't know why their conversation had developed this way.
What started as Qin Su ignoring everyone while she was out having fun turned into an argument about whether he had been mean to her.
She also said he didn't care about her?
If he didn't care about her, would he send her so many messages and make so many phone calls?
Ye Yan felt a lump in his throat, and forced himself to lower his voice: "I just wanted to say that you can't ignore messages while you're out there."
Qin Su glared at him: "Why didn't you just say that from the beginning? Why were you being sarcastic and yelling at me?"
Helpless, Ye Yan explained, "...I didn't mean to be mean to you."
"No?"
Qin Su stepped forward, threw the laptop in Ye Yan's arms aside, straddled his lap, and grabbed his hair to make him look at her.
“Look me in the eyes and say it again.”
As soon as she sat down, her softness and fragrance wafted over him, and Ye Yan subconsciously wrapped his arms around her waist.
Is this a honey trap? He thought, I absolutely cannot fall for it.
Ye Yan affirmed, "Even if I say it ten times, it will still be the same. I didn't yell at you."
Qin Su looked at him.
The two were very close, their breaths audible. Her long eyelashes fluttered as they brushed against his face, like a dragonfly skimming the water, creating ripples.
Ye Yan was defeated, and his expression involuntarily softened.
He finally said in a low voice, "Be reasonable, it's clearly not my fault."
His words contained no anger, only a hint of grievance, which could be considered an admission of weakness.
Qin Su, however, did not budge.
"Ye Yan." She leaned closer, her nose touching his, and asked softly, "Do you want to reason with me, or do you want to kiss me?"
"..."
Ye Yan remained silent.
After a while, he lowered his head to find her lips.
Qin Su's fingers dug deep into his thick hair, and over time, she tousled it into a tangled mess.
The tense atmosphere in the living room vanished without a trace in an instant.
When Qin Su's eyes were red and her clothes were disheveled, Ye Yan was about to carry her back to the bedroom when Qin Su stopped him: "Wait."
She grabbed a gift bag from the side and shoved it into Ye Yan's hand: "You haven't opened your gift yet."
Ye Yan, already determined to succeed, didn't want to delay any longer and said, "Let's try again tomorrow."
"It's too late by tomorrow." Qin Su insisted that he dismantle it immediately. "Dismantle it now."
Ye Yan couldn't persuade her otherwise, so he patiently opened the package. Inside, he found a tie lying quietly, made of high-quality material and with exquisite workmanship.
To his surprise, the tie was a rather flamboyant burgundy color from the inside out.
Qin Su asked, "Do you like it?"
Ye Yan never wears ties of this color, so it's not that he likes them.
He hesitated for a moment, finally remembering that he had just argued with Qin Su and didn't want to upset her again, so he said tactfully, "I might not have a suit that fits it."
Qin Su laughed: "Who said you had to wear it?"
Ye Yan was taken aback: "Wasn't it bought for me?"
"I bought this for you." Qin Su took the tie and slowly wrapped it around her wrist twice.
She likes red, and red does indeed best showcase her beauty.
The burgundy tie on her snow-white wrist created a striking color contrast, resulting in a strong visual impact.
Qin Su placed her wrist into Ye Yan's palm and said ambiguously, "It's just for me to use."
"..."
Without needing to say more, Ye Yan instantly understood what she meant.
His eyes immediately turned bloodshot. Unable to bear it any longer, he picked up Qin Su and strode towards the bedroom.
The tie box fell to the ground and he stomped on it, crushing it.
The living room light stayed on all night, completely ignored.
