Yan Wu remained noncommittal, put down his chopsticks, and looked at her leisurely, smiling as he said, "Little princess, I'm teaching you not to trust others too easily. Not everyone in this world is a good person; there are many who harbor ill intentions, and quite a few who go back on their word. You gave me the medicine ahead of time, and now you see, haven't I gone back on my word?"
"Then why did you agree to come out with me today?!"
Yan Wu paused for a moment, then said, "Consider it as repayment for the antidote you gave me."
Yan Chaoxi was so angry she almost cried. "I know, you're just a bully who picks on the weak! You don't dare to stand up to the powerful Crown Prince, so you only bully weak women like me who can't even kill a chicken! If you don't want to cooperate with me, then don't accept my antidote pills. I'll find someone else to cooperate with!"
"ah--"
The next instant, Yan Chaoxi was suddenly pulled up from her seat by the man, forcefully pulled onto his lap, and her chin was lifted up by a large hand.
Yan Wuding stared at her red-rimmed eyes for a moment, then suddenly smiled and said, "Bullying the weak and fearing the strong? You're right, that's exactly it. I'm just bullying you."
A passionate kiss descended upon her forcefully and irrationally. The man forcefully pried open her teeth and entangled with her, his large hands holding her head captive, not allowing her to escape.
Yan Chaoxi tried to dodge, but he chased after her and blocked her way. She could only tilt her head back and endure his demands. Tears gradually filled her eyes.
It wasn't until another large hand slipped inside her clothes and began to knead her wantonly that Yan Chaoxi trembled and used all her strength to push him away. Her small body trembled slightly in his arms, and tears streamed down her face.
But Yan Wu seemed oblivious, pressing his lips to hers and chuckling softly, "It is indeed quite soft."
"Waaaaah...you...you bastard!"
Yan Chaoxi could no longer hold back. She raised her hand and slapped him, then cried as she pushed him away and ran out.
Yan Wu was the only one left in the room. He didn't move. He glanced at the food on the table that was almost gone, and finally looked at the clothes and bundle that Yan Chaoxi hadn't had time to take.
Yan Chaoxi ran out of the room crying, wiped away her tears, straightened her clothes, and left the restaurant, heading towards the Crown Prince's residence.
The system really couldn't understand Yan Wu's thinking, and said in a huffy, childish voice, "Host, why is he suddenly bullying you? Everything was fine before, and everything was going smoothly!"
The system was furious with Yan Wu's attitude just now.
"I even secretly investigated him. He's been dreaming about you two the past two nights. He must care about you a lot!"
Yan Chaoxi smiled faintly, "System, you don't understand. Imagine someone like Yan Wu, who lives in darkness and has never seen the light, suddenly encountering a kind and sunny princess who generously offers him an antidote to cure the poison that has tormented him for years. What would his first thought be?"
"To keep you by my side?"
"No, it's escaping, it's fear."
How dare a shadow in the abyss touch the moonlight?
He was raised as a substitute from a young age. No matter how lazy he appeared or how sharp-tongued he was, he was actually a lowly and pathetic wretch. He was afraid that his dark side would taint her innocent and pure self, so he was afraid and wanted to run away, feeling that he was not worthy of her.
Furthermore, Yan Wu's hatred for the Crown Prince will not disappear; he will seek revenge for everything he has suffered over the years, but he cannot guarantee that he will escape unscathed. Therefore, making her despise him, hate him, and stay away from him was Yan Wu's purpose just now.
The system scratched its rabbit ears in the space. "Sigh! Human emotions are so complicated. Especially men, a man's heart is like a needle at the bottom of the sea. So what should we do next?"
"No rush, give him some time to think it through. I will make him understand that without him, the delicate princess will be in a very difficult situation."
The system hummed in agreement, then checked Yan Wu's location to see what he was doing. "Host! You're right, Yan Wu is following you closely behind you! It's just that the slap mark on his face is too obvious, and people passing by can't help but stare at him."
Yan Chaoxi silently cursed, "Serves him right," because he had been so awful just now.
Back at the Crown Prince's residence, Yan Chaoxi locked herself in her room and refused to see anyone.
In the following days, she didn't go to see Yan Wu, and Yan Wu showed no intention of coming to see her. The Crown Princess, however, had her eye on her.
According to the system, the Crown Princess was suffering from insomnia and couldn't sleep. The imperial physicians, at their wits' end, could only administer a sleeping potion to make her unconscious and allow her body and mind to rest. The side effects of the potion were quite obvious; for several hours after waking up, she would feel weak and confused.
Consort An and Consort Zhao were also in poor condition, though slightly better than the Crown Princess. Upon hearing that the two of them had also been suffering from illness, the Crown Princess became even more convinced that Yan Chaoxi was cursed and brought misfortune to everyone in the Crown Prince's residence.
So she chose a time when she was feeling a little better to call Yan Chaoxi over.
"Since your arrival, I and several of the concubines in the manor have felt unwell. Yesterday, I went to the temple to offer incense and inquired about this matter with the abbot."
"The abbot frankly said that perhaps your arrival from afar has disrupted the stable fortune of the manor. Over time, the crown prince might also be affected. Therefore, I want you to copy Buddhist scriptures, which will then be burned as offerings to Buddha to pray for the crown prince and everyone in the manor. Are you willing?"
Yan Chaoxi thought to herself that if the Crown Princess could make up something plausible, she could at least come up with something believable. If she really had something on her, the first ones to suffer would be the palace servants in the courtyard who had contact with her.
However, thinking of her own plan, Yan Chaoxi nodded obediently, "I am ashamed, but I am willing to copy this to pray for everyone's well-being."
The Crown Princess thought that if Yan Chaoxi was unwilling, then she would have a reason to punish her, such as whipping or beating her, which would also vent her anger. Unexpectedly, Yan Chaoxi agreed immediately.
She nodded in satisfaction. "Then have someone set up a table at the entrance of this palace. You can kneel down and copy it all down to show your devotion to Buddha."
Yan Chaoxi responded softly, "Yes."
Bichun spoke worriedly, "Consort..." The Crown Princess was clearly picking a fight and targeting their princess! But the Crown Princess's status put the princess in a difficult position, and the princess couldn't resist.
Yan Chaoxi smiled reassuringly at her, "It's okay, I'll finish copying it soon, you just wait here."
The palace servants moved quickly, carrying a table and preparing Buddhist scriptures, writing brush, ink, paper, and inkstone before leaving.
Yan Chaoxi glanced at her and realized that she hadn't prepared a prayer mat for her, which meant she had to kneel on the ground.
With a scoff in her heart, Yan Chaoxi calmly knelt down and dipped her brush in ink.
The Crown Princess watched for a while, and seeing that she was behaving herself, she turned and went into the house.
"System, system, do you have any knee pads in the store? Exchange a pair for me."
The system searched around and found it!
Then I quickly helped her change into knee pads and tied them directly to her legs. It wasn't noticeable from the outside through her clothes, but it was much more comfortable.
"Host, you're suffering here, and Yan Wu has no idea!"
"It won't be long before news of Consort Yan's punishment spreads throughout the mansion, and he will find out." Yan Chaoxi picked up her pen and began copying.
