Ye Chaoxi nodded obediently, then, remembering that he was blind, replied, "Okay."
Hearing Ye Chaoxi's soft voice, Xie Qinglan's heart softened as well. When Ye Chaoxi responded but then fell silent, he couldn't help but start to reflect on himself. Had he been too fierce just now and scared her?
He was about to say something when Ye Chaoxi turned and left without hesitation.
Xie Qinglan felt a sudden sense of loss. Her hands fell to her lap, and through the blanket, she felt nothing in her legs.
His already dull eyes became even more somber; what was he still hoping for?
After a long while, the door was pushed open again, and light footsteps once more reached my ears.
Ye Chaoxi returned with a bowl of medicine. "The people in the kitchen are so slow. I had to watch them for them to start brewing the medicine, and even after it was finished, no one brought it over. Luckily, I was there the whole time."
Xie Qinglan was taken aback; it turned out she had gone to get his medicine.
"The medicine is freshly boiled and still very hot. Do you need me to feed you?"
Although it was a question, she had already sat down by the bed, scooped up a spoonful of medicine, gently blew on it to cool it down, and then brought it to Xie Qinglan's lips.
Xie Qinglan could even feel the breath she exhaled as she blew the medicine across his neck, like a feather brushing against his heart.
As if possessed, Xie Qinglan opened her mouth and drank it down.
Spoon after spoonful, the bowl of herbal soup was quickly emptied.
After he finished taking the medicine, Ye Chaoxi magically produced a candied fruit and stuffed it into his mouth.
Soft fingertips brushed against her moist lips, which were still wet from taking medicine.
Xie Qinglan was taken aback for a moment, but Ye Chaoxi withdrew her hand without noticing, picked up the empty bowl, and said, "You should get some rest. I'm going to sleep."
