Inside the Lexian Palace.
Consort Xian leaned against the soft couch, her eyes lightly closed, her brows slightly furrowed, as if she were not sleeping soundly.
Suddenly, with a creak, the palace door opened, and Consort Xian opened her eyes.
The Consort Xian's personal maid quietly entered the palace and whispered in her ear, "Your Majesty, the person you are looking for has arrived."
Upon hearing this, Consort Xian immediately sat up straight, a hint of urgency flashing in her eyes, and whispered, "Let him in quickly."
As soon as he finished speaking, a man dressed as an imperial physician bowed and entered the inner room, saying, "Greetings to Your Majesty."
Consort Xian nodded slightly, her tone tinged with a hint of probing: "I've heard that your family has been practicing medicine for generations, especially skilled in women's ailments. Is that true?"
Physician Wu bowed his head and replied, "Your Majesty, that is indeed the case. My family has practiced medicine for three generations, specializing in gynecology. Although I would not dare to say that I am an expert, I have achieved some success."
"Do you have any drugs that can induce a false pregnancy?"
Upon hearing this, Physician Wu looked up abruptly, a flash of surprise crossing his eyes. He quickly lowered his head again, his voice hesitant: "This... Your Highness, if this medicine is used in the palace and someone finds out, I'm afraid..."
Consort Xian coldly interrupted him: "Just answer, yes or no."
"Yes, there is, but the medicine doesn't last long; it can only maintain the pregnancy pulse for up to two months."
"Bring it to me, and I will not mistreat you." Consort Xian winked at her personal maid.
A palace maid brought a gold bar and stuffed it into Physician Wu's hand.
Physician Wu was initially hesitant, but his eyes lit up when he saw the gold bars. He put the gold bars into his sleeve pocket and said, "Please wait for half a day, Your Majesty. I will go home and get the medicine."
Physician Wu was just an ordinary physician in the Imperial Medical Academy. He had no family background or connections, but he successfully entered the Imperial Medical Academy by studying medical principles since childhood. He was not rich or powerful, but he bought a small courtyard in the capital, so going home was not a hassle.
Within half a day, Physician Wu delivered the items to Consort Xian's palace.
It was a round, black pill.
"Your Majesty, after taking this medicine, your pulse will show signs of pregnancy, your period will be delayed, and you will experience morning sickness. After two months, the symptoms will disappear, and your delayed period will return to normal, but the flow will be heavier, making it look like a miscarriage."
Consort Xian only asked, "After taking this medicine, will other imperial physicians diagnose that my condition is caused by the medication?"
Physician Wu said confidently, "No."
Consort Xian was relieved. "Go down. You know what you should and shouldn't say in this palace."
"yes."
After seeing Physician Wu off, Consort Xian had someone pour her a glass of water and took the pills with the warm water.
The palace maid asked worriedly, "Your Highness, won't someone find out?"
"The matter is sudden. If I don't do this, I will be sent away in three days. That cold and desolate villa will only lead to my death," Consort Xian said coldly.
The emperor was determined; he kept only the Noble Consort among his four consorts, and sent away most of the other concubines.
She's not like that fool, Consort Shu. She can only pretend to be sick for a while, but she can't pretend forever.
As long as she becomes pregnant with the emperor's child, she will have a sufficient reason to stay in the palace. If she unfortunately miscarries, the emperor will allow her to stay in the palace out of consideration for her loss of her child.
She didn't believe that the emperor could favor Yun Chaoxi exclusively for life and never summon other women.
If she could get the emperor to come to her palace during these two months and successfully conceive, it would be a close call.
The next day was another day to pay respects to the Empress Dowager.
The concubines gathered together, and half of them looked somewhat haggard.
Of these women, only a few were willing to be taken back by their families. Most of them wanted to move to the royal villa and hoped to plead with the Empress Dowager today and also denounce Yun Chaoxi.
Before the Empress Dowager arrived, Consort Shu spoke first. She now hated Yun Chaoxi to the core, "Consort Zhao, you gained the Emperor's favor the moment you entered the palace. The sisters didn't compete with you because you were young, but you had the Emperor send us away. What are your intentions!"
The condemning gazes of the crowd all fell upon Yun Chaoxi.
Yun Chaoxi did not make this request to Chu Xiao, but as a beneficiary of the system, she did not intend to refute their words and accepted their hostile gazes with equanimity.
"The implementation of the new policy now requires a lot of money. If you sisters move to another residence, it will reduce the palace's expenses, and we won't need so many eunuchs and maids anymore. This is a contribution to our Great Chu, and you sisters should be proud."
Consort Shu: "Bah! If you're so proud, why don't you live in a separate residence?!"
Yun Chaoxi smiled, her fox-like eyes slightly raised, a hint of smugness in her expression. "Isn't it obvious? The Emperor dotes on me!"
The numerous concubines were speechless, wanting to rush up and beat this woman!
Consort Shu was truly enraged by her and rushed forward, raising her hand to slap Yun Chaoxi's face.
Yun Chaoxi nimbly dodged to the side, her fox-like eyes narrowed, and slapped Consort Shu across the face.
A loud crack echoed throughout the Shou Kang Palace.
Consort Shu trembled with rage. "You vile woman! How dare you...you dare hit me?!"
She tried to rush forward, but was held back by a palace maid from Shou Kang Palace. The Empress Dowager also came out at this moment.
The first thing she saw was Consort Shu, who was being held back in the middle of the hall, trembling with anger.
"What's all the noise about? What's wrong with Consort Shu?"
Everyone bowed in greeting.
Yun Chaoxi replied, "Your Majesty, Consort Shu is probably still recovering from her illness, which is why she is trembling uncontrollably. I think we should send two more imperial physicians with Consort Shu to the other residence tomorrow."
Yun Chaoxi deliberately brought up a sore spot, which made Consort Shu so angry that she almost fainted.
The palace servants hurriedly moved Consort Shu to a side hall and summoned the imperial physician for her.
The Empress Dowager, however, felt that Yun Chaoxi's words made sense. "We should send two more over. The villa is not as convenient as the palace. From now on, let them wait at the villa."
