Chapter 527 My Zombie Wife 33

After Nanzhi forced the door on the eleventh floor open, it seemed to have been damaged and could no longer be closed.

Looking at the empty corridor and thinking of the deadly laser, they didn't go in again.

Ji Yuan and Jian Yihan discussed countermeasures on the side.

Almost all of them were technical terms, and Nanzhi couldn't understand them even after listening for a long time. She only heard the words "to turn off some power".

She noticed that they were engrossed in their conversation, while Ji Yuan kept frowning, clearly finding the matter quite troublesome for him.

Nan Zhi didn't want Ji Yuan to be unhappy, so she touched his shoulder. "Professor, I..."

Ji Yuan thought she was hungry, so he took out a packet of instant noodles from his bag and handed it to her.

Nam Gyi loves instant noodles, especially when eaten dry.

She happily took it, tore open the packaging, and started eating.

Jian Yihan watched this scene, then looked back at Ji Yuan.

He said his clothes were bulging, and he thought he was carrying a gun.

Unexpectedly...

The two continued discussing their attack routes.

Even after Nanzhi finished her instant noodles, they still hadn't finished talking.

Every time she tried to tell Ji Yuan that she actually knew where the power source was, Ji Yuan would always slip her a bag of snacks.

Later, she was too full to eat anymore, so she put the dried plums that Ji Yuan had given her on the balcony and walked towards the front door.

After discussing it with Jian Yihan for a long time, it was already dark outside.

There's no solution at the moment, and Nanzhi hasn't eaten in so long, she must be hungry and tired. Ji Yuan decided to rest for a while and make another plan tomorrow.

But when he turned to look for Nanzhi, he didn't see her.

She neatly piled the empty snack bags on the floor, and left a bag of uneaten dried plums on the balcony.

His heart tightened, and he quickly grabbed the balcony railing and looked down. The lights below were dazzling, but she was nowhere to be seen.

But she was nowhere to be seen.

"Zhizhi!"

Only the echo responded to him.

A nameless fear made his scalp tingle, and his heart felt like it was about to stop beating.

Why didn't he keep an eye on her?

Was she trying to say something to him? Why didn't he stop?

He was overwhelmed with guilt, which nearly crushed him.

Jian Yihan had never seen Ji Yuan so flustered before.

It felt like I was about to collapse.

Especially when she saw a few small pieces of leftover fries by the laser-strewn iron gate...

Ji Yuan, who was always a germaphobe, actually squatted down to pick up the fragments. He looked up into the corridor, but there was nothing there. His eyes were bloodshot from excitement.

There was the scent of Nan Zhi inside; Ji Yuan knew she must have gone in.

He blinked, and when he stood up again, Jian Yihan realized something and hurriedly tried to grab his hand, but saw that he had already walked inside first.

Jian Yihan followed and tried to pull him out, but as soon as her hand touched him, he was shaken off.

Seeing the lasers rushing towards them again, Jian Yihan had no choice but to run outside.

Ji Yuan was quite skilled; Jian Yihan watched as he easily dodged the first laser beam.

The second time, however, it wasn't so easy.

Two intersecting infrared laser beams rushed towards them at high speed.

Although Ji Yuan dodged it, a corner of his clothes was still torn.

Next, the third one, which initially consisted of only three intersecting lines, suddenly multiplied into thirty as it approached Ji Yuan, forming a net with no place to hide.

Seeing this scene, Jian Yihan wanted to go forward to help, but then he remembered his younger brother and took two steps back. However, those two steps reminded him of what had just happened.

If Ji Yuan hadn't pulled him back, he would have been gone long ago.

The pangs of conscience tormented him, and without further hesitation, he resolutely rushed inside.

He swung out the wire rope that had been wrapped around his waist, and just as it was about to hook Ji Yuan's hand, all the lights in the corridor suddenly went out.

It was pitch black all around.

Ji Yuan could not see anything.

Only a familiar scream could be faintly heard.

The laser beam in front of him had disappeared, and he ran recklessly toward the dark end, following the sound.

After running a few steps, he remembered that he had a flashlight with him. He turned on the light and finally saw Nanzhi, who was crouching on the ground, trembling and holding her head, in a room at the end of the road, after turning left.

He was slightly out of breath as he strode over, bent down, and hugged her, stroking her back tenderly: "It's alright, don't be afraid."

Nanzhi heard his voice and trembled as she lifted her head from his embrace.

"Professor, it's so dark, I'm so scared."

Ji Yuan touched her face, his eyes a little red: "I know, I won't leave you alone again."

He pulled her into a tight embrace, feeling as if he had finally come back to life.

Unbeknownst to him, he had unknowingly fallen deeply in love with her.

He can't lose her.

Just imagining that feeling is painful enough.

He should have left her at the base.

How could he bring her to such a dangerous place for his own sake?

"Let's go back."

Nanzhi looked up, puzzled: "Where to?"

"go home."

Nothing in this world is more important than her.

There will be plenty of opportunities in the future, but this time, he wanted to be selfish.

Nan Zhi looked at him excitedly and said, "But Professor, I turned off the power."

Ji Yuan then noticed the various colored power supplies next to him.

He looked outside in disbelief; the once brightly lit base was now completely dark.
