Shen Yunjin had not expected the war to drag on for so long. The enemy's cold weapons were too advanced and powerful, and they easily lost nearly half of his men.
On one serious occasion, their radio station was destroyed, causing all the lines to lose power and making it impossible to make a single phone call.
When he gets busy, he seems to lose track of time, but he still remembers that Nanzhi is about to give birth.
He had many letters sent out, but they all seemed to sink without a trace, and there was no response.
Unable to leave the battlefield, he could only desperately try to calm himself down and direct the battle.
During this period, he also won several battles with fewer troops, becoming the target of the enemy's bounty.
For a period of time, their base was attacked by the enemy. When he led his men to evacuate, he was accidentally shot and was unconscious for half a month. He almost died.
Upon waking, he learned from the newspaper that war had also broken out in Beiping.
He never imagined that his desperate efforts to protect Beiping from foreign enemies would lead to so many things happening after he fell into a coma.
Shen Yunjin hurriedly called Nanzhi, but after being transferred, it showed that no one was online.
His heart sank to the bone. Ignoring his injuries, he hurriedly led the remaining less than 30,000 troops back to Beiping City.
One reason was to protect Beiping.
Secondly, it was to find her.
When he rushed back, he found the courtyard empty.
There were signs of searching everywhere, and she had disappeared.
In that instant, Shen Yunjin almost collapsed to the ground.
Wen Xuyang was the first to catch him.
He met Wen Xuyang on the battlefield.
When they met, Wen Xuyang told him that Nanzhi was doing quite well.
But right now...
He didn't even dare to think about what had happened.
Just thinking about it makes him feel like he's falling into an abyss.
Wen Xuyang was also worried about Wen Lanlan, but at this moment, looking at Shen Yunjin who was about to collapse, he said, "It's okay, calm down first. They may have already escaped. Even if they were caught, there is no blood on the ground, so they should be fine. Let's look for any clues left behind."
His heart pounded painfully, and he didn't know if the pain was from his wound or something else. He took a deep breath, forced himself to calm down, and searched around for clues.
Recalling the places Nan Zhi loved to stay, he came to the table by the window.
The books on the table had long been thrown on the floor, covered in footprints.
He squatted down, picked it up, dusted it off, and casually flipped to a page. He didn't see any notes, only some annotations of ancient poems.
It is Nan Zhi's name.
He continued scrolling down, but apart from the notes, he didn't see any other information.
I had just closed the book when I looked up and saw my eyes were fixed on the desk.
The sun was shining brightly outside, and he could vaguely see what appeared to be a line of words carved on the edge of the rosewood table.
He realized something, suddenly reacted, stood up and walked to the table, stroking that spot on the edge of the table.
There is indeed a line of text.
It's so tiny that you have to squint and look closely to see it clearly.
He slowly read out that line of words.
"White tea brings simple pleasures, nothing else matters."
It's that half-line of poetry.
Wen Xuyang leaned over and noticed it too. "If you hadn't picked up the book from the ground, no one would have found this place. So... this half-line of poetry?"
“Yes…” Shen Yunjin said with great joy, “It must be a clue she left for me.”
It's highly unlikely that the enemy would pick up the book they dropped, so this must be something she wanted to tell him.
"But what does this poem prove?" Wen Xuyang wondered, muttering to himself, "White tea, simple pleasures, nothing else matters..."
Shen Yunjin was also thinking to himself, when suddenly he looked up at Wen Xuyang, "White Tea House?"
Wen Xuyang exclaimed in surprise, "Could it be that white tea house we often go to?"
Shen Yunjin wasn't sure if he was right, but having a clue made him excited.
He led his men to the White Tea House to search for it.
The white teahouse has long been closed to customers.
When they forced their way in, the shop was empty, with nothing but some tea leaves; it was deserted and quiet.
They searched every corner but found no one.
Shen Yunjin's eyes darkened slightly, and his heart began to ache again.
He was holding onto the second-floor railing, clutching his heart, feeling like he was about to faint from the pain, when he suddenly heard footsteps coming from downstairs.
The soldiers beside him immediately raised their guns and aimed them at the newcomer. When they saw that the man was dressed as a man, covered up and only his eyes were visible, they thought he was a spy. Just as they were about to fire, they heard Shen Yunjin's voice stop them.
"Wait a moment."
Shen Yunjin narrowed his eyes, keeping a close eye on the person coming downstairs.
Their eyes met, and a familiar feeling instantly spread through their entire being.
His expression changed slightly, and he looked at her excitedly, "Zhizhi."
The other person removed the scarf from their face, smiled brightly at him, and said, "Young Marshal, it's been a long time."
Hearing the familiar voice, Shen Yunjin's eyes reddened.
I hurried downstairs and walked towards her.
She walked towards him, and in the end, she ran and rushed into his arms.
As the soft, fragrant body embraced him, Shen Yunjin felt as if he had come back to life.
He briefly forgot about the child and just held her tightly, as if he wanted to pull her into his body.
He only realized what was happening when he felt her stomach was flat, and quickly let go of her.
"My belly... baby?" he stammered, his words tumbling out in a jumbled mess of excitement.
Nan Zhi stroked her flat stomach and smiled. "The baby has been born. How is it? Has my figure changed much since giving birth?"
Shen Yunjin watched as she acted as if nothing had happened, making no mention of the hardships of childbirth, speaking to him in such a calm manner, and even joking with him.
He pulled her into his arms again and held her tightly.
Nanzhi felt something warm splash onto the back of her neck. Realizing what it was, she stopped talking and nestled obediently in his arms.
"I'm sorry, it's my fault."
Hearing his hoarse apology, Nan Zhi's eyelashes trembled. "Shen Yunjin, I'm fine."
Shen Yunjin held her tightly, pouring out his longing: "I miss you so much."
“Me too.” Nan Zhi nuzzled against his chest. “Shen Yunjin, I miss you too.”
Nothing could make Shen Yunjin happier than those words.
He didn't let go of her; he held her tightly.
How lucky he was, fate smiled upon him once again.
"Let's go register and get our certificates now."
He didn't want to wait a moment longer.
When he was about to die from being shot on the battlefield, he was both relieved that he hadn't registered his marriage with her, so she could choose another man, and regretful that he had let her down.
Now that they've finally returned and reunited, he can't wait any longer.
She should belong to him for all eternity.
