Chapter 663: Adopted Daughter She Only Tells the Truth (3)

Just one simple sentence, but it pierced through Yu Shayi's defenses like a sharp arrow.

She widened her eyes and looked in disbelief at the adoptive mother whom she loved so much before today, and asked in a trembling voice: "Mom, so... you mean you don't want me anymore?" Tears welled up in her eyes, but she forced herself not to let them fall.

Song Jiao stood aside, a playful smile on her lips, her eyes full of mockery, "Hey, don't act like a victim. You're just a canary we found when we were bored, to entertain us."

"You've been here for so many years, eating well, wearing good clothes, and using the best things. Isn't this enough to compensate you?"

Her words were light and understated, but each one was like a knife, piercing Shayi's heart.

In the original plot, the original owner made a big fuss in the Heavenly Palace as soon as he came back, saying that he didn't like dolls and even asked Yu Shayi to get out.

Although the goal was achieved, the original owner's parents felt that the original owner was a bit too much. After all, Yu Shayi was also raised by them.

But Song Jiao is different. She wants not only to show her status, but also to completely shatter Yu Shayi's fantasy and let her understand where she really belongs.

"Besides, I only said that I don't want you to appear in the name of the eldest daughter of the Yu family, but I didn't say that I would kick you out. Or do you actually want to replace me?" Song Jiao pressed on step by step, her eyes as sharp as an eagle.

Faced with Song Jiao's dominance, Yu Shayi panicked instantly. She quickly shook her head, her voice tinged with tears, "No, I never thought of replacing the eldest lady. I just wanted to stay at home. It's my honor to have lived in the Yu family for so many years and been cared for by my parents."

As she spoke, she couldn't help but let her tears fall.

Seeing this, Song Jiao's lips curled up into a satisfied smile. She retracted her gaze, her tone cold but with a barely perceptible softness, "Just know. Since my parents spent money to train you, then you should do what you should do in your daily life. Don't think about relying on the Yu family for your living in the future. Remember, you are just an adopted daughter of the Yu family. Don't ever think of climbing over my head."

Yu's mother watched from the side and nodded secretly in her heart.

Her daughter seemed to have really grown up now. She did things in an orderly manner, and even she couldn't help but look at her with admiration.

Although the words were harsh, one thing was true. She had wanted to say these words before her daughter came back, but she hadn't figured out how to say them.

Mu Shaoshen looked at the pair of red eyes in front of him, which seemed to be filled with a spring of grievance. Song Jiao just looked at him eagerly, with the corners of her mouth trembling slightly, as if she wanted to say something, but she swallowed the words back, leaving only a trace of sorrow that she wanted to say but couldn't.

After dinner, the moonlight was like a wash, shining on the bluestone slabs in the courtyard, adding a bit of coolness to the quiet night.

Song Jiao stood alone, her figure elongated in the moonlight, looking particularly lonely.

Mu Shaoshen slowly approached and sighed softly, that sigh seemed to contain a thousand words: "Shasha, don't you think your attitude towards Shayi today was a bit too much?"

"Shayi actually doesn't mean any harm. How could she threaten you?" There was a hint of helplessness in his tone, trying to ease the atmosphere.

Hearing this, Song Jiao slowly raised her eyes, her eyes filled with indifference, as if they could freeze all warmth. "Mu Shaoshen, what makes you think I should accept her unconditionally, or even be grateful to her? Things in this world can't be solved by just saying 'no ill will'."

"Besides, you knew I was coming back today, so why did you go to pick me up? Are my parents really planning to hold a birthday party for Sae?"

It was obviously this idiot who deliberately said that he would go to pick it up so that the original owner's parents would have to take care of Yu Shayi's birthday.

Mu Shaoshen was stunned. He didn't expect Song Jiao to be so direct. He looked up to meet her gaze, a wry smile on his face: "Shasha, how could you think of me like this? Don't you know how I feel about you?"

"Feelings?" Song Jiao sneered, "Perhaps the feelings ten years ago were still as pure as ever, but the blank space in the past ten years is enough to make everything complicated and unpredictable."

Her eyes were sharp, as if she had seen through everything. "I guess my guess was too accurate, and it made you a little panicked, didn't it?"

"Is everything between you and Yu Shayi really so innocent?" Song Jiao pressed on, not intending to give him any chance to escape.

Mu Shaoshen gritted his teeth, a glint of determination flashed in his eyes: "Shasha, you can doubt anything, but you must never doubt my feelings for you! For the past ten years, I've been waiting for you, not anyone else!"

"Oh? Really?" Song Jiao raised an eyebrow, a playful smile on her lips. "Then explain to me why you proposed that Yu Shayi become my parents' adopted daughter? Is there really no selfish motive behind this?"

Mu Shaoshen was caught off guard by her string of questions, but he quickly regained his composure, even pretending to be angry. "Shasha, you're being incredibly jealous. I certainly have my reasons for doing this, but I can assure you that my feelings for you are known to all."

"Considerations? What considerations?" Song Jiao pressed on, a cunning glint in her eyes. "Could it be that you want to take this opportunity to observe Yu Shayi and me closely and see who of us is more qualified to play the role of your 'fiancée'?"

"Yu Shasha, how could you misunderstand me like this?" Mu Shaoshen's voice was filled with a hint of incredible anger. His eyes seemed to be burning with two flames as he stared directly at Song Jiao. "In my heart, there has always been only you!"

Upon hearing this, Song Jiao couldn't help but burst out laughing. The laughter was crisp and pleasant, with a hint of teasing. "Oh? In that case, let's get it over with! You get engaged to me straight away. I want that girl Yu Shayi to leave the Yu family completely and stop her from trying to climb up the social ladder by clinging to them."

"What do you think of this proposal?" Song Jiao raised her chin provocatively, waiting for Mu Shaoshen's answer.

Mu Shaoshen frowned upon hearing this, clearly surprised by Song Jiao's suggestion. "Why do you have to target Yu Shayi? You and I are just a matter between us. Yu Shayi is Yu Shayi. What does she have to do with you?"

His words were full of confusion as he tried to persuade Song Jiao to give up the idea.

However, Song Jiao didn't buy it. She looked up at Mu Shaoshen, a cold look flashing in her eyes: "Do you really think I don't know anything? How did Yu Shayi enter my parents' sight? What role did you play in it? What did you do? Do I need to tell you one by one?"

Her words came like a string of cannonballs, leaving Mu Shaoshen unable to refute them for a moment.

"Don't treat people like fools, Mu Shaoshen."
