Chapter 14 When will you have a baby?

Given Xie Ci Nian's status, it's natural that he wouldn't arrive early to attend a distant relative's birthday banquet.

They just come over, say hello, chat for a bit, and then leave.

As soon as the car stopped, the host and his people greeted them outside.

As soon as Xie Cinian and Pei Zhi got out of the car, you heard, "Cousin Xie, I've heard so much about you."

Pei Zhi sized up the middle-aged man in front of her; he didn't seem to be from the same generation as Xie Cinian at all.

Pei Zhi had just learned a little about the situation in the car; the middle-aged man was the biological son of her distant aunt, named Hu Weimin.

Calling Xie Cinian "cousin" is acceptable.

The middle-aged man looked at Pei Zhi with amazement in his eyes, "This must be my sister-in-law?"

"Oh my, you two are such a perfect match!"

Hu Weimin said enthusiastically, "Why didn't you tell people back home when you got married? We could have come over and had a drink at your wedding."

Xie Cinian: "The old man was not in good health at the time, so we didn't hold a big celebration."

Hu Weimin sighed, "The old man passed away too early. We should have gone to pay our respects back then."

"Fortunately, the old man saw that you got married before he passed away, which can be considered as fulfilling his wish."

The old man's funeral was not held in a grand manner, which was his own wish.

Only members of the Xie family attended the funeral; only an obituary was issued outside.

Xie Cinian frowned slightly, clearly growing impatient.

Pei Zhi, holding Xie Cinian's arm, interrupted Hu Weimin's sorrowful autumn thoughts.

"Cousin, please take us inside to say hello to Auntie."

Hu Weimin nodded quickly, "Okay, okay, the old lady has been waiting for you."

Hu Weimin led the way, bringing several people to the private room.

Inside the private room sat an elderly woman in a cheongsam, her hair mostly white.

When the old lady saw Xie Cinian, tears welled up in her eyes before she could even say a word.

Not to mention Pei Zhi, even Xie Cinian was stunned.

On the way here, Xie Cinian also gave Pei Zhi some instructions.

I've never met this aunt before; she's a relative from the old man's generation.

Xie Ci Nian instructed Pei Zhi that all she needed to do was be polite.

Hu Weimin quickly said, "Mom, why are you crying? Haven't you been talking about your cousin? He's back now."

If you didn't know the situation, you'd think they had a really good relationship.

Xie Cinian gave Pei Zhi a look, and Pei Zhi nodded slightly.

"Auntie, please don't cry. If you cry again, we won't dare to come again next time."

Pei Zhi's words were a reminder to the old lady that her performance was almost over and it was time to stop.

How close can you be to relatives you've never met?

The reason they acted this way was simply to curry favor with the Xie family.

The old lady wiped away her tears. "It's so good, so good. You've all grown up so much in such a short time."

The old lady led Pei Zhi to a seat, and Xie Cinian sat down next to Pei Zhi.

The small talk can be left to Pei Zhi.

Pei Zhi followed the old woman's words: "So, Auntie, you must take good care of yourself."

Hu Weimin stood up and poured tea for Xie Cinian.

"Cousin, I heard you're planning to expand your business to China?"

Xie Cinian thanked him, "Yes, when the old man was alive, he always regretted not coming back sooner."

The Xie family has developed rapidly overseas in recent years, with businesses expanding in various industries.

If they return to China to develop their careers, it will greatly benefit the country's economic development.

Hu Weimin received the definite news, and his smile became even brighter.

The old lady suddenly interjected, "You two are cousins, just like brothers. You should visit each other more often in the future."

Xie Cinian smiled and nodded, "Of course, the Xie family doesn't have any relatives in China anymore."

The old lady smiled with satisfaction, and then brought up Pei Zhi again.

"Why didn't you bring the child today?"

One sentence silenced Xie Ci Nian and Pei Zhi.

Sure enough, no matter where you are, elders will always ask about things like marriage and having children.

"Auntie, we don't have children yet."

The old lady's tone immediately turned stern, "What, you still don't have children? Haven't you been married for almost two years?"

Is there something wrong with your health?

"Young people, it's best to get your health checked as soon as possible if you have any health problems."

"He's the only boy in Ci Nian's generation, so we need to make sure he has children as soon as possible."

Pei Zhi's smile was starting to falter.

Some elderly people, if you give them a little face, they'll really take advantage of you.

Hu Weimin clearly noticed that his cousin and sister-in-law looked uncomfortable.

Before he could interrupt his mother, he heard her continue rambling.

"Have children early, and have more, so the family can be lively."

The old lady patted Pei Zhi's hand and said, "You're still young, the sooner you get pregnant, the sooner you'll recover."

Pei Zhi forced a smile, but under the table, her hand was already pinching Xie Cinian.

Xie Cinian put down her teacup with a light touch. "Aunt, are you feeling alright now?"

The old lady thought Xie Cinian was concerned about her. "It's fine. I have a physical examination every year, and the doctor says I'm very healthy."

Xie Cinian nodded. "That's good."

"Since Auntie likes children so much and is in good health, why don't you have a few more yourself? Give me a few cousins."

Xie Ci Nian doesn't usually argue with people, but because of his status, he gets respect wherever he goes.

Who dares to point fingers at him?

The old lady's face darkened instantly. Who would let a seventy-year-old woman give birth?

That's a really harsh thing to say.

Hu Weimin also opened his mouth, wanting to say something to ease the atmosphere.

Pei Zhi calmly took a sip of tea before slowly saying, "Cousin, could you please have someone take me to wash my hands?"

Hu Weimin nodded repeatedly, "Okay, okay, okay."

"I'll go with you."

Xie Cinian wanted to accompany Pei Zhi, and Hu Weimin didn't call her "Auntie" anymore, personally leading the way.

Just as Xie Cinian reached the bathroom door, his phone rang.

Xie Cinian pointed to the corridor, "I'm going to take a call over there."

Pei Zhi took the bag and nodded, "I understand."

Pei Zhi went into the restroom, while Hu Weimin waited in the hallway outside.

Hu Weimin dared not leave; he had already angered the couple tonight.

Hu Weimin naturally wanted to salvage his image.

Hu Weimin wanted the old lady to reconnect, but unexpectedly, it ended up being unpleasant.

Hu Weimin could see clearly that Xie's cousin was standing up for his sister-in-law.

Men who can protect their wives will definitely be able to listen to advice.

Hu Weimin planned to try and win Pei Zhi's favor.

Compared to Xie Cinian, Pei Zhi, who always smiles at everyone, seems to be closer to the person.
