Hu Shih didn't understand. "Why? My father's mistresses used to cause trouble at our door."

Pei Zhi shrugged. "I don't know."
Pei Zhi genuinely didn't know; she wasn't interested in Xie Cinian's private life.

Seeing Hu Shi's statement that seemed to confirm her identity as his mother, Pei Zhi didn't bother to refute it.
"What right do you think I have to interfere?"
Hu Shih shouted, "How can you not be qualified? You are his wife, you are rightfully his wife, you are the most qualified."
Pei Zhi's words silenced Hu Shi.
"And what kind of good thing am I?"
I've never seen anyone so ruthless that they even curse themselves.
