Pei Zhi's comment was originally just a casual joke, but Xie Cinian took it to heart and even nodded seriously.
"I'll be forty in a few years."
"All of my business partners and subordinates have families now."
"Do you remember Lao Tang, who used to drive me back in the country?"
Pei Zhi nodded. "Your driver? What happened to him?"
"He became a grandfather a couple of years ago, so he quit his job and went home."
Pei Zhi thought for a moment, "He shouldn't be sixty years old yet, right?"
"He got married early, and his son got married early too."
Pei Zhi replied while eating her noodles, "That's fine too."
“Over the years, people around me have been introducing me to potential partners, and the Xie family has also been putting pressure on me.”
Pei Zhi wasn't very interested, but she felt obligated to help someone who had eaten her food.
Pei Zhi chimed in, "Then why don't you find one?"
"It's not that I don't want to look, it's that I'm unwilling to give up."
Xie Ci Nian had thought countless times about just compromising.
He will find a suitable woman, get married, have a child, and fulfill his responsibilities.
Perhaps he has a family, children, and his own responsibilities.
He probably won't focus his attention on Pei Zhi.
They wouldn't worry about when that heartless woman, Pei Zhi, would come back.
Pei Zhi didn't understand: "What are you unwilling to accept?"
"Because I know you. If I were married, you wouldn't be sitting here eating noodles with me."
Pei Zhi, although she seems to lack morals.
She was able to get married, but then she found two other men.
In reality, Pei Zhi wouldn't even glance at men who were already in relationships.
"So, you haven't gotten married all these years just so that one day you can share a bowl of noodles with me?"
This sounds utterly absurd.
Xie Cinian didn't mince words: "Pei Zhi, you know what I want."
Pei Zhi put down her chopsticks. "Then you'd better not speak. I'm afraid I won't be able to eat if I hear it."
Pei Zhi didn't want to hear anything that made her feel disgusted.
Xie Ci Nian didn't force Pei Zhi to listen; let's take it slow.
After dinner, Xie Cinian invited Pei Zhi to take a look in the backyard.
"They actually dug an artificial lake here?"
Pei Zhi remembered that these things didn't used to be in the backyard.
There are swans in the lake; the scenery is truly beautiful.
Xie Ci Nian felt no effort was wasted when he saw that Pei Zhi liked him.
"I felt the backyard was too empty, so I had a lake dug."
Xie Ci Nian gestured for Pei Zhi to walk forward, where there was a pavilion.
After they sat down in the pavilion, the servants served them some tea and fruit for dessert.
As dusk deepened, the streetlights in the backyard came on, creating a unique kind of beauty.
The evening breeze caressed Pei Zhi's face. Pei Zhi closed her eyes and felt a sense of comfort.
"That feels so good."
Xie Cinian then said, "Since you like it here, why don't you stay for a few days?"
Pei Zhi opened her eyes. "You mean, you want me not to go back tonight?"
Xie Cinian immediately understood the meaning behind Pei Zhi's words and quickly retorted.
"What I mean is, there's a guest room in the house, or I can make room in the master bedroom for you to sleep in."
Pei Zhi shook her head and refused: "Then forget it."
Pei Zhi rested her chin on her hand. "In this place, I'm used to sleeping with someone."
After Pei Zhi finished speaking, she clicked her tongue inwardly. Damn it, her mouth was faster than her brain. She deserved to die.
Xie Cinian said solicitously, "If you'd like, I can..."
What sweet dreams are you having?
"You made me angry today, and although you apologized, I'm not holding it against you; that's my magnanimity."
"But let's skip the idea of you letting me stay overnight."
Pei Zhi took out her phone: "If you don't want to see me off, I'll call someone to pick me up."
"Send it, send it."
Xie Cinian held Pei Zhi's hand, "Wherever you want to go, I'll take you."
Pei Zhi pulled her hand away, took out her phone, and showed Xie Cinian an address.
"Here, take me there."
Xie Cinian glanced at the message and saw it was from a male profile picture sent to Pei Zhi at a bar.
Xie Ci Nian subconsciously reached out and swiped through the chat page.
Pei Zhi retrieved the item quickly. Xie Cinian glanced at it briefly and realized that Pei Zhi must have met this person.
"It's already dark, going to a bar isn't a good idea. If you want to drink, why don't you pick something from my liquor store?"
Pei Zhi remained silent, looking at Xie Cinian with a half-smile.
Xie Cinian sighed, gritted his teeth and nodded, "Okay, I'll go change my clothes and take you there."
Xie Ci Niancai said that he would respect Pei Zhi.
From now on, I will no longer interfere with Pei Zhi's choices.
Pei Zhi waited downstairs for a moment, and Xie Cinian came upstairs, changed into a casual outfit, and looked a few years younger.
"Don't worry, the bar doesn't have an age limit. Even if you don't dress up, they won't stop you."
Pei Zhi saw through Xie Cinian's little scheme, but Xie Cinian wasn't embarrassed at all.
Xie Cinian explained, "I drive, and I don't like wearing suits because it's not very convenient."
Pei Zhi responded, and Xie Cinian led her to the garage.
Pei Zhi glanced at him; Xie Cinian usually traveled in Bentleys and Phantoms.
But that doesn't mean Xie Ci's garage didn't have any flashy cars.
Pei Zhi touched the Lamborghini next to her, leaving a mark on the car with her fingers.
"I rarely drive these cars because I have to go to work."
"Haven't you always been like this? You want to have good things, but you don't necessarily know how to use them."
For example, Xie Cinian doesn't like drinking, but his wine cellar contains many expensive wines.
