Chapter 496 One World Extra Chapter 34

Lu Mingxu did not explain to Hu Shi that they were simply too afraid.

Worried, Pei Zhi finally came back.

They were afraid that God would be too cruel to them, so they were willing to believe in these things.

As long as Pei Zhi is healthy, they are willing to do anything.

Hu Shi noticed the obvious dark circles under Lu Mingxu's eyes and didn't say anything more.

Hu Shih simply thought it was just a minor cold, and that Lu Mingxu and Chi Xiuwen were being far too anxious.

The doorbell suddenly rang, and Hu Shi muttered.

"You're back so soon?"

Lu Mingxu got up to open the door and saw Xie Cinian standing outside. Lu Mingxu rolled his eyes.

"Is Pei Zhi home?"

Lu Mingxu asked impatiently, "What are you doing here?"

“I called Pei Zhi today, but she didn’t answer.”

Xie Cinian was busy with work. After having dinner with Pei Zhi that day, Xie Cinian took a flight abroad that evening.

I only came back today, and when I tried to contact Pei Zhi, whether by sending a message or making a phone call, she disappeared without a trace.

Xie Cinian was worried, so he had no choice but to go to Chi Xiuwen's house to look for him.

Although Lu Mingxu disliked Xie Cinian, he was also afraid of waking Pei Zhi.

“Pei Zhi was sick and hospitalized for the past few days. She was just discharged today and is resting in her bedroom now. If you want to come in, please be quiet.”

"Are you sick?" Xie Cinian pressed. "You're perfectly fine, how could you be sick?"

"I caught a cold, and as a result, I had a fever that kept recurring."

Xie Cinian entered the room and asked, "Which hospital are you staying at? I'll call and ask for details."

Hu Shi coughed lightly, "Pei Zhi has already been discharged from the hospital. She's fine now, so there's no need to go to great lengths."

Xie Cinian disagreed, saying, "We should have several doctors examine you to make sure there's nothing wrong before we can feel at ease."

Lu Mingxu thought Xie Cinian's words made sense. "Come with me to the kitchen, and we'll talk in detail."

Lu Mingxu and Xie Cinian went to the kitchen and closed the sliding door behind them, afraid that the noise would disturb Pei Zhi.

Hu Shih sat alone on the sofa, shaking his head helplessly.

Fortunately, Pei Zhi only had a cold.

If Pei Zhi were to… Hu Shi silently spat three times, then, feeling it wasn’t enough, patted his own mouth again.

Pei Zhi slept straight through until the afternoon.

I've been in the hospital for the past few days, and I have a fever every night. I'm in a semi-conscious state all day.

In addition, because of the system's words, Pei Zhi was indeed in a bad mood and felt that she shouldn't have come back.

She's just asking for trouble because she has nothing better to do.

After a good night's sleep, Pei Zhi stretched and felt much better.

Pei Zhi didn't hear a sound, so she opened the door out of curiosity.

Pei Zhi assumed that she was home alone.

After opening the door, Pei Zhi saw Hu Shi and Lu Mingxu sitting on the sofa, wearing headphones and playing on their phones.

Xie Cinian was at the dining table, where a computer was placed; he seemed to be busy with official business.

The kitchen door was closed, so Chi Xiuwen must be in the kitchen.

Lu Mingxu kept glancing at the bedroom door, so even though he was wearing headphones, he noticed Pei Zhi was awake immediately.

Lu Mingxu took off his headphones and tossed his phone aside. "Did you feel any better after a nap? Is there anything else that's bothering you?"

Pei Zhi nodded, "Much better, except I feel a little weak and I'm hungry."

“It’s normal for it to be a little soft after a few days of fever.” Lu Mingxu shouted towards the kitchen, “Chi Xiuwen, Zhizhi says she’s hungry.”

Xie Cinian also got up and put the computer away.

Hu Shih also put on slippers and complained, "Zhizhi, you don't know, while you were sleeping inside, we were putting on a silent play outside."

Afraid of disturbing Pei Zhi, they didn't allow any sound to be made.

Pei Zhi: "Actually, the room is quite soundproof."

Chi Xiuwen pushed open the kitchen door. "Dinner's ready."

Hu Shih was the first to respond, "Quickly, I'm starving!"

Hu Shih did indeed starve to death. It was past lunchtime, and Pei Zhi was sleeping, so Hu Shih naturally had no food to eat.

With the help of several people, the food that Chi Xiuwen had prepared was brought up.

Pei Zhi had just recovered from her illness, so Chi Xiuwen didn't prepare any heavy meat dishes; instead, he served light meals.

Chi Xiuwen could only put effort into the presentation of the dishes; he would even carve flowers out of a carrot.

Pei Zhi had a fairly good appetite; she ate about half a bowl of rice and drank some soup.

Lu Mingxu volunteered: "After we finish eating, shall I take you for a walk?"

Pei Zhi shook her head, "I don't want to move."

Chi Xiuwen took the medicine bag and poured a glass of warm water: "Take your medicine."

Pei Zhi sighed when she saw the medicine.

Chi Xiuwen divided out the medicine to be taken and placed it in Pei Zhi's hand.

"Only by taking the medicine can the condition be prevented from recurring."

Seeing that Pei Zhi had taken her medicine, Chi Xiuwen finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"How about we watch a movie at home this afternoon?"

"No, I just want to go back to my room and lie down."

Lu Mingxu wanted to say something, but Chi Xiuwen shook his head at him.

"Okay, go ahead. If you need anything, just send me a message on your phone."

Seeing that Pei Zhi had finished her meal and returned to her room, Hu Shi scratched his head.

"I feel like something's off with Pei Zhi."

Could it be just a cold? Pei Zhi seems to have lost interest in everything.

Chi Xiuwen was busy clearing away the dishes, while Lu Mingxu seemed to be deep in thought.

Pei Zhi returned to her room, pulled the blanket over her head, and sighed deeply.

If she had just opened the door and there was no one outside the living room, Pei Zhi might have felt a little better.
