Upon arriving at the ward, Pei's parents were moved to tears upon seeing Pei Wang's pitiful state.
While feeling sorry for her son, Pei's mother started scolding her younger daughter-in-law.
People might say whatever they want to say, but most of the people in the ward clearly weren't thinking about that.
When Du Lei entered the room, he glanced around and then looked at Jiang Qingyuan, who was standing in front of the ward door.
Jiang Qingyuan completely covered the gap behind the ward door.
Presumably, Pei Zhi is hiding behind the ward door.
Apart from that, Du Lei couldn't see where else in the ward could someone hide.
Pei Zhi peered out through the gap in Jiang Qingyuan's silhouette.
Pei Zhi is not very attentive to men.
Being too good to men is being cruel to yourself, and Pei Zhi has always adhered to this principle.
However, Pei Zhi was somewhat stunned when she saw her parents' aged faces.
People get old, that's normal.
However, Pei Zhi never imagined that her parents would grow up to be like this.
My mother's once black hair has turned completely white.
As for the father, his back had even become hunched over.
Pei Zhi blinked, trying hard to control her emotions.
Pei's father took out his cigarette case, wanting to smoke.
Du Lei quickly stepped forward to stop him, "Dad, this is a hospital ward, you can't smoke here."
Pei's father stuffed the cigarette box back into his pocket. "Yes, yes, I must have lost my mind."
Du Lei noticed that Pei's father's hands were trembling slightly. "Dad, A-Wang is alright, isn't he? Don't frighten yourself."
Mr. Pei nodded. “When I heard that Pei Wang had an accident, I suddenly remembered that a few years ago, I heard that Zhizhi had an accident.”
“By the time we arrived, Zhizhi was gone.”
“When your mother and I came here, we were both shivering. We were really scared. If something happened to him, your mother and I really wouldn’t be able to go on living.”
It's not that Brother Pei doesn't support his parents.
Losing two children in succession, wouldn't that be the death of two elderly people?
Cheng Xuelin glanced quietly behind the door, wanting to see how Pei Zhi would react.
Pei Zhi lowered her head, and Cheng Xuelin did not see her expression.
Cheng Xuelin could sense that Pei Zhi's feelings must be very complicated.
Pei's mother held Pei Wang's hand: "My son, don't worry, I will definitely teach that little slut a lesson and make sure you don't suffer this injustice for nothing."
"Alright," Pei's father said sternly, "If you go and make a big scene, it will be A-Wang's people who lose face."
“It’s not honorable for a man to get into this mess. We can handle it ourselves behind closed doors.”
Pei's mother was displeased. "A-Wang was beaten to death by that bastard and ended up in the hospital. You still care about saving face?"
Pei's mother shouted, "Which is more important, your face or your son?"
"It's a loss, too. Ah Wang is fine. If Ah Wang were like Zhi Zhi, I would want to kill her whole family and that wouldn't be enough to satisfy my hatred."
Pei's father asked Pei Wang, "Wang, what do you mean?"
Previously, Pei Wang would have been furious as well.
He believed he treated his wife well, even though he was busy with business.
But it's all for the sake of our family and our children.
He didn't understand why his wife was cheating on him.
But after Pei Zhi returned, Pei Wang felt that none of these things mattered.
His beloved sister has already returned, so why should he bother with such trivial matters?
"The man who stabbed me has been arrested and the legal process is underway. As for her..."
"I'll get both children tested first to see if they're mine."
"After the results came out, I talked to her about the divorce."
"What the heck?" Brother Pei slapped his thigh. "You mean, the two little ones in the family might not be your children?"
At this point, even Pei's mother couldn't cry anymore.
"That's not certain. Let's wait for the test results. We can't exactly raise someone else's child, can we?"
Although I've raised the child for several years, I've developed feelings for him.
But if it weren't for his child, Pei Wang wouldn't have been able to become such a sucker.
Upon hearing that her grandchildren might not be their children, Pei's mother collapsed to the ground, wailing, "My God!"
Pei's father also looked worried and had no mood to persuade Pei's mother.
Pei Zhi, who was hiding by the door, shook her head and gently pushed the door open.
Jiang Qingyuan understood, took two steps back, and made room for Pei Zhi.
Pei Zhi walked out from behind the door, but her parents and older brother were all too heartbroken.
They were all absorbed in their own emotions and completely unaware of Pei Zhi's appearance.
Brother Pei wiped away his tears and was about to say that even if the child wasn't his, he would still want to raise him.
As soon as he looked up, Brother Pei's eyes met Pei Zhi's.
Brother Pei forgot about his sadness and stared blankly at Pei Zhi.
Brother Pei blinked frantically, seeing that Pei Zhi was still there.
Brother Pei reached out and rubbed his eyes. His little sister was still there?
Moreover, his younger sister was looking at him with a smile.
Brother Pei trembled in fright, "Father, Mother, look what's behind you!"
Pei's mother was wailing and crying, and didn't hear what her eldest son said at all.
Pei's father heard it, and he turned his head. Pei Zhi smiled at her father and waved.
Pei's father was the village chief, and he had heard plenty of all sorts of strange and unsavory things in the village.
Despite hearing about it, when he actually saw it, Pei's father was still frightened.
