Chapter 543 Four Worlds Extra 4

Pei Zhi's expression immediately changed. "Mother, what do you mean by this?"

"I am your own daughter, don't you trust me?"

Madam Qin certainly didn't believe it, but could she really say such a thing?

Remembering her husband's instructions, Madam Qin could only say, feeling aggrieved, "I didn't bring the key with me. I'll have someone bring it to you later."

Pei Zhi bowed slightly, saying, "Thank you, Mother."

Madam Qin gave a forced smile and quickly led her entourage back to the main courtyard.

She was terrified that if she stayed with this wretched girl any longer, she would want to strangle her.

After taking a nap, Pei Zhi led her men to the storeroom.

Anything that catches the eye or is deemed acceptable is taken away.

There's not enough room in the house?

Then let's put one out and smash one; after all, it's not her stuff.

Madam Qin was still worried, so she asked her subordinates to keep an eye on things.

When her subordinates came to report, Madam Qin almost gasped for breath.

"She took both of my treasured boxes of pearls?"

"Yes, the old servant said one box would be enough for her."

"She said she wanted to grind it into powder and apply it to her face, and one box wasn't enough."

The servant said aggrievedly, "You also said that I should not have any conflict with her and could only watch her move away."

Madam Qin said angrily, "Those pearls were carefully selected by me, and I planned to save them as a gift for my future daughter-in-law!"

"That's not all, Madam. She also took away all of Madam's dowry, a set of gold phoenix crown and pearl hairpins."

“They said the gold was valuable and that they should keep it to reward the servants later.”

Madam Qin's vision went white, and she fainted from anger.

When Master Qin returned, he heard that his wife was ill.

Master Qin didn't even have time to change out of his official robes before heading straight to Madam Qin's place.

Madam Qin had just woken up, and the servants were feeding her a calming soup.

"What's wrong?"

When Madam Qin saw Mr. Qin, she began to complain.

"Sir, where did you bring back a living Yama from?"

"She practically emptied the storeroom this afternoon."

"It's only been a few days, how are we going to get through the rest of the year?"

After listening to Madam Qin's rambling explanation of the whole story, Master Qin understood what had happened.

"I thought it was nothing serious."

Madam Qin said angrily, "Master, it's because you weren't here that you didn't see that girl with your own eyes."

"Alright," Master Qin interrupted helplessly, "Didn't I tell you not to worry about such small gains?"

"Even if she empties the storeroom, these things are still in the Qin residence, aren't they?"

"If she really enters the palace in the future, what if we consider these things as her dowry?"

Mr. Qin patted Mrs. Qin on the shoulder, "You've made yourself sick and harmed your health over something so trivial."

No sooner had Master Qin finished speaking than a servant shouted from outside the door, "Master, Master, something terrible has happened!"

Master Qin straightened his clothes. "What kind of behavior is this, shouting like this?"

"Master," the servant gasped, "your study is on fire."

"What?" Master Qin shouted, then rushed into the study in a panic.

A raging fire had already broken out in the study.

Looking at the study engulfed in flames, Master Qin could only shout, "Put out the fire quickly!"

“Master, even if the fire is extinguished, the rare book in the study cannot be saved.”

Even if the fire is extinguished, there probably won't be any books left inside. With a fire this big, there's probably not much left.

What's more, it was extinguished with water.

Master Qin simply sat down on the ground, exclaiming, "My rare books, my handwritten copies, those are all my treasures!"

Master Qin thought about all the calligraphy, paintings, and books he had received during his tenure, and now he had nothing left.

"Who was in charge of the study, and why did it suddenly catch fire?"

Pei Zhi said, "It's me."

Master Qin looked over with a furious expression. Upon seeing the person who spoke, he tried to compose himself, but his expression became somewhat distorted.

"I wanted to go in and look at a couple of books, but I ended up finding an oil lamp."

"Luckily, I ran fast and the fire didn't burn me."

With a pale face, Master Qin asked, "Since there was a fire, why didn't you call for help to put it out?"

Pei Zhi innocently replied, "Ah..."

"I saw a fire, and I got scared, so I ran back into the house."

Pei Zhi blinked and said, "I only remembered to come when I heard someone shouting for help to put out the fire."

Master Qin's face was gloomy; if the person in front of him were someone else...

He would definitely kill the other party to vent his anger over all those precious books in his study.

Unfortunately, this person cannot move.

Madam Qin arrived late, looking at the study that had been burned down to just a frame.

Madam Qin looked at Master Qin with concern, fearing that he would lose his temper.

Master Qin's voice was as cold as ice, "It's good that you're alright. It's just a study, nothing serious."

These words were truly uttered through gritted teeth by Master Qin.

Pei Zhi smiled and said, "Father, you are so kind. I will definitely repay you in the future."

After Pei Zhi finished speaking, she said she was sleepy and turned around to go back to her room to sleep.

Madam Qin looked at the cold-faced Master Qin and asked, "Master, are you alright?"

Master Qin let out a breath and slowly shook his head.

"I'm fine, I'm perfectly fine."

A cold glint appeared in Master Qin's eyes. "She'd better be able to enter the palace for me."

Master Qin said viciously, "Otherwise, I will definitely tear her to pieces to vent my anger!"

Madam Qin originally thought that she had already spent money and bought the items.
