Pei Wang would carry a cigarette case, offering a cigarette to any man he encountered, and chatting with anyone he met.
When Pei's mother saw the group return, she wasn't too surprised.
Seeing Pei Wang's generous manner, Pei's mother complained, "You too, you don't expect people to pay for cigarettes?"
Pei Wang said casually, "How much does a pack of cigarettes cost?"
Pei's mother scolded, "You've really made a few bucks and now you think you're someone special."
"Mom, I bought some brown sugar, apples, and snacks here. I also brought cigarettes and alcohol for Dad."
Pei's mother looked at Jiang Qingyuan, and instantly accepted the things with a big smile.
"Look at you guys, you come back, so what's the point of buying anything?"
Pei's mother deliberately raised her voice and muttered, "Your father and I, when we're at home, where would we ever eat these kinds of things?"
Pei Wang couldn't stand it anymore. "Let's go in first and let her stand at the gate and show off all by herself."
Pei Zhi couldn't help but laugh and followed Pei Wang inside.
Feeling embarrassed, Pei's mother glared fiercely at Pei Wang.
"Come on, Mom will make you some sweet soup."
"Where's Dad?" Pei Wang asked, noticing that no one was home.
"They're cutting grass in the field with your brother and the others."
Pei's mother kept saying, "You've finally come back, so go work in the fields with them this afternoon."
Pei's mother glanced at Pei Zhi again, "Why are you wearing a skirt to the countryside? How will you do the work later?"
Pei Zhi stuck out her tongue, "The harvest from one of your plots of land can't buy this dress I'm wearing."
Before Pei's mother could say anything, Jiang Qingyuan immediately said, "Mom, I'll do it."
Mother Pei immediately laughed and said, "No need, no need. Why would I need you to do that little bit of work?"
Pei Wang fanned the flames, "Mom, a son-in-law is also a son. Don't you treat your brother-in-law like your own son?"
Seeing that Pei's mother was speechless for a long time after Pei Wang's retort, the three of them burst out laughing.
