Chapter 154 World Seven and the Second Male Lead from the Underworld: A Marriage of Convenience Turns into Love (Part 1)

[This is a second male lead who is somewhat charming and ruthless to outsiders, but is deeply in love with the female lead. If loving her is too exhausting, it's better to let go and choose someone who loves you back.]

In the warm yellow room, Mu Wenxi rubbed the leaves on the plant, one by one, two by two... Jiang Ningyuan lowered his head and remained silent.

A few crumpled leaves fell to the ground. Mu Wenxi looked exhausted and said to the person in front of him, "Let's... break up."

Jiang Ningyuan, sitting opposite her, lowered his arm from the table and looked at her with an unnatural gaze: "Are you serious? Do you know how much I hate the word 'breakup'?"

Jiang Ningyuan closed his eyes, suppressing a hint of anger on his face.

Mu Wenxi: "Otherwise, are we going to keep torturing each other? I'm serious, I'm tired. Every time we torment each other, I feel like we're wearing down our relationship. Rather than that, it's better for us to go our separate ways and preserve our last bit of dignity."

Jiang Ningyuan looked at the person in front of him, who seemed to have made up her mind. He felt that she was still angry, just like before. He didn't want to coax her; he thought she would calm down on her own after a while. But he was still angry. Just then, he saw the cup next to him and naturally swung his hand, forcefully knocking the cup to the ground.

The cup shattered into pieces, with glass shards even hitting Mu Wenxi's instep, but he ignored it and turned to leave.

Mu Wenxi looked at the shattered cup and the faint scratch on the foot, just like their relationship. The cup was broken and could not be put back together. The scratch would leave a scar that could never be repaired.

It's always the same; they throw things whenever they argue. It hasn't changed over the years. She silently cleaned up the broken glass on the ground, and finally couldn't hold back anymore and sat down on the ground and cried.

"I'm really tired. Being with him is really tiring."

Mu Wenxi said to the air in front of him, "I'm counting on you this time. I hope you can give them a good ending."

Mu Wenxi and Xiao A, who were in the air, sighed as they looked at the woman in front of them, who was also named Mu Wenxi. She originally had a chance to come back again, but she was too tired. All her love and feelings had been worn away in her previous life.

She and Jiang Ningyuan were unwilling to let go of each other, tormenting each other through countless breakups and reconciliations throughout their lives. Meanwhile, another man waited for her alone his entire life, perhaps having already fallen in love with the man who silently accompanied her without her even realizing it.

Mu Wenxi in the air nodded: "Although I will occupy your body and replace your consciousness, my heart is still yours. If this is your wish, I will try my best to give him a good ending, but I may not fall in love with him, nor may I be with him. Letting him go may also be a kind of love. The moment I become you, I am you, and you also influence me."

Sitting on the ground, Mu Wenxi nodded: "That's good. It's really amazing. Thank you no matter what."

After she finished speaking, Mu Wenxi, who was sitting on the ground, felt her consciousness becoming increasingly weak. The next second, Mu Wenxi opened her eyes.

"Little A, this is another emotion that has deeply moved me. What is it called?"

A: "Boss, I don't know either. Maybe it's regret? Or heartache?"

Mu Wenxi found it hard to describe this emotion. The two of them were draining each other. When they were together, they would argue, dislike, and hate each other. When they were apart, they would miss each other. When they broke up, they felt regretful and unwilling to give up. Neither of them would let go, and they could only torture each other.

She touched her chest: "Never mind, there's still someone waiting for me to set him free."

Mu Wenxi arrived at that person's bar, walked in after seeing the huge "Hope" sign overhead, and found a corner to sit down in the dimly lit bar.

The bartender, who was familiar with Mu Wenxi who had been there many times, quickly asked, "Miss Mu, what would you like to drink today?"

She shrugged and said nonchalantly, "I broke up with my boyfriend. Want some recommendations?"

A moment later, the bartender handed over a glass of orange-yellow liquor: "Want to try some?"

She picked up the glass of wine in front of her, took a sip, and noticed it was somewhat sweet and sour: "What is this?"

“LONG ISLAND”.

Mu Wenxi blinked: "Not bad."

She sipped her drink slowly, her eyes glazed over as if savoring something.

Upstairs in a room, a man sat on the sofa with his legs crossed, leaning back against it. He wiped his hands with a handkerchief, his eyes fierce, his fingers long and slender, but his palms were calloused.

In the corner, a man lay limp on the ground, seemingly covered in blood.

"Sir, Miss Mu is downstairs."

The man tossed the handkerchief into the arms of his subordinate beside him and said, "Hmm."

This sound brought a sigh of relief to everyone.

He stood up, rolled up his sleeves, straightened his suit, and said to his subordinate, "I'll leave this to you," before stepping out of the room.

After finishing one glass, Mu Wenxi felt still quite sober and signaled to the bartender for a few more.

The bartender said with concern, "Miss Mu, this drink has a strong aftereffect."

Mu Wenxi: "It's nothing."

Just as she was about to take a sip of the cup, a man walked over with his hands in his pockets and looked down at her.

Man: "What brings you here, Miss?"

Mu Wenxi turned her head and saw the person from her memory.

The man was dressed in a black suit with a white shirt underneath, a few buttons undone, revealing his delicate collarbone. His eyes were long and narrow, slanted upwards like a fox's, and a beauty mark at the corner of his eye added to his sexy and alluring appearance.

The man took her drink and shook it, seemingly mockingly: "What? Heartbroken and drinking a Long Island Iced Tea?"

Mu Wenxi: "Yes, we broke up."

The man paused, holding the wine bottle, and sat down beside her, sneering, "Seriously? Stop drinking, you'll be back together soon."

Mu Wenxi snatched back the wine glass and took a big gulp: "If you don't believe me, fine, but this time it's really over."

The man chuckled self-deprecatingly: "Do you think I'm stupid? How many times have you broken up and gotten back together?"

Mu Wenxi: "Why would I lie to you?"

The man tapped Mu Wenxi's head: "Then tell me, how many times have you lied to me?"

Mu Wenxi wiped a drop of wine from the corner of his mouth: "Xi Changye, people always get tired, just like the name of your bar, 'Hope'. But hope is often unattainable, and it is precisely because it cannot be achieved that people place their hopes on making wishes, but people always get tired."

Xi Changye: "You always have a ton of reasons to give."

Looking at the person in front of him, Changye shifted his gaze and said softly to his wine glass, "Then I hope you're really tired this time."

He was saying this to himself as well.

He crossed his arms and watched Mu Wenxi drink one cup after another. Finally, on the sixth cup, he couldn't help but reach out and stop him: "Stop drinking, that's enough."

Mu Wenxi seemed not to hear him, staring blankly at one spot. When he stopped her, she turned to look at him. He always indulged her like this, but he always kept a line for her.
