Mu Wenxi stood by the window, looking at the car that hadn't left yet, and suddenly remembered something.
Back in college, Xi Changye was just like today, waiting alone downstairs at her dorm. When she suddenly got her period and didn't have any sanitary napkins with her, Xi Changye was the first one to notice.
"You didn't even know you were on your period?"
"Oh no, my period has started? Oh no, it really has started, what should I do, Xi Changye?"
Xi Changye took off his coat and tied it around her waist: "Go to the bathroom first, I'll go buy you sanitary napkins."
Mu Wenxi said anxiously, "Okay, don't buy the wrong one, it's for daily use."
"Okay, go inside now. Don't you know how to take care of yourself? Don't you even know when your period is coming?"
I searched many places late at night before finally finding a 24-hour supermarket.
Mu Wenxi only remembers that she waited for a long time and finally received a bag of sanitary napkins, underwear and a cup of hot milk.
When she was sick and weak, Xi Changye stayed by her side all night. He said she was annoying, but he carefully fed her medicine spoonful by spoonful.
Every time she was sad, she would think of Xi Changye. He mocked her, but always silently stayed by her side. But she forgot that she had lost herself in sweet words and loved the wrong person.
Mu Wenxi picked up her phone and put it to her ear: "Xi Changye, go home early. We need to get up early tomorrow morning to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau together."
He must look very happy right now.
Xi Changye looked at the phone after it was hung up, then glanced up at the person upstairs. She was telling the truth. In the quiet night, his heart pounded. He returned to the bar and, for the first time, couldn't sleep all night because of his excitement.
The next morning, Mu Wenxi got up and had breakfast. As she passed by the window, she glanced downstairs and was surprised to see Xi Changye's car. She wondered if he had arrived so early.
She called Xi Changye: "You're here, why aren't you coming up?"
Xi Changye: "Immediately."
Mu Wenxi: "Have you had breakfast yet?"
Xi Changye: "Not yet."
"Want to eat something together?"
"good".
Mu Wenxi placed the prepared breakfast on the table and opened the door. Xi Changye, dressed in a black suit, was tall and handsome.
Mu Wenxi: "Did you bring your household registration booklet?"
Xi Changye nodded.
After finishing breakfast, Mu Wenxi said to Xi Changye, "Wait for me a moment, I'll get ready."
Xi Changye sat on the sofa, nodded, and clasped his hands together: "Okay."
Mu Wenxi quickly put on light makeup and wore a white dress before coming out: "Does it look good?"
Xi Changye looked up briefly before quickly looking away: "Cough, it's beautiful."
"Let's go."
The two of them went to the Civil Affairs Bureau in Xi Changye's car. Since it was not a holiday, there were not many people in line, and it was soon their turn. Mu Wenxi filled out the forms, and Xi Changye would glance at them from time to time.
The female manager couldn't help but glance at the two men a few more times because of their good looks.
The two stood somewhat stiffly during the photo shoot, and the photographer kept adjusting them.
"Don't be nervous, smile, you're too stiff."
Mu Wenxi suddenly remembered when they took their high school graduation photos: "Xi Changye, do you remember when we took our high school graduation photos?"
Xi Changye found the scene somewhat amusing when he recalled it.
Photographer: "Closer, closer."
Mu Wenxi moved closer to Xi Changye, and Xi Changye unconsciously reached out and put his arm around Mu Wenxi's waist.
Photographer: "Yes, smile like that, that's great, happy marriage."
A red-background photo was left on the marriage certificate. Xi Changye, holding the marriage certificate, seemed to still be in a daze.
Mu Wenxi also felt a slight unease.
The two walked out of the Civil Affairs Bureau together. In the past, neither of them would have imagined that their fate would be like this.
After escorting Mu Wenxi home, Xi Changye returned to the bar upstairs. Unlike his usual sinister smile, this time his smile was very warm.
Upon hearing that Xi Changye had returned, one of his subordinates rushed over to discuss matters with him: "Master, what should we do with that person from before?"
Xi Changye didn't even look up: "Let him go."
The subordinate thought he had misheard. This man was always ruthless and cruel; anyone captured by him was never spared a severe beating.
Xi Changye sat in his chair, humming a song, and looked at his standing subordinates: "Aren't you leaving yet?"
His men immediately fled.
Xi Changye held the marriage certificate in one hand and looked at it repeatedly, a smile playing on his lips. Remembering what Mu Wenxi had said in the car earlier, he put the marriage certificate in the safe.
Mu Wenxi looked at the two people on the marriage certificate: "Are we husband and wife from now on?"
Xi Changye: "Hmm."
Mu Wenxi: "I didn't expect it to be such a simple matter requiring only one certificate."
Xi Changye touched the marriage certificate in his pocket.
As Mu Wenxi got out of the car, she opened the door but then remembered something and turned back: "Xi Changye, don't worry, now that we're married, I'll treat you well."
Xi Changye was momentarily nervous and didn't know what to say: "Okay."
Mu Wenxi returned to her room and told her parents about getting her marriage certificate.
Father: "What? You got your marriage certificate? My cabbage has been eaten by a pig? You acted first and asked for permission later."
Mother: "Oh right, you two have been dating for so many years, it's time to get a marriage certificate, but why didn't you tell us?"
Mu Wenxi touched his nose: "Mom and Dad, the person I'm marrying is Xi Changye, not Jiang Ningyuan, so I made the decision first and informed him later."
Father Mu: "What? That kid Xi Changye? What's going on?"
Mother Mu: "Heavens! How can you be so casual about marriage? Do you think this is child's play? You were dating Jiang Ningyuan before, how did it become Xi Changye? Besides, the Xi family's background is something we..."
Mu Wenxi: "Mom and Dad, I know your concerns, but Jiang Ningyuan and I have broken up and gotten back together many times. I don't want to get entangled anymore. I'm just too tired. We broke up more than a month ago, and Xi Changye is a very good person to me."
Mu's father seemed to remember something and narrowed his eyes: "Hmph, so it's that kid. Oh well, considering he's been pursuing you for so many years, if you like him, that's fine. When are you going to meet him? Let me see what that kid thinks."
Mother Shepherd: "Wouldn't it be dangerous for Xixi to marry him?"
Mu Wenxi almost burst out laughing: "Mom, what are you thinking? It's not that scary now, and he will protect me. I'll go talk to him and tell you the time later."
Mu Wenxi agreed and planned to arrange a time with Xi Changye.
Mu Wenxi: "Xi Changye, I've told my parents about us, and they want to see you."
Xi Changye almost dropped the phone, feeling that her day had been a bit dramatic: "Okay, I have no objection. I'll talk to my dad, but shouldn't you change how you address me?"
Mu Wenxi joked, "What kind of address? You want me to call you 'husband' in front of everyone?"
