At least Jiang Ningyuan saved her. Mu Wenxi shouted at the balcony, "Xi Changye, you idiot, I'm never talking to you again."
Mother Shepherd: "Why are you shouting in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?"
In the days that followed, Mu Wenxi would only greet Xi Changye briefly when they met, but she would no longer follow him around waiting for him to go home. She just wanted to study hard and get into a good university.
Her initiative to distance herself only made Xi Changye feel even more strongly: Look, no one will like you or get close to you. Even if they do, they will leave once they know your true colors. You see, those people are so superficial. Maybe they are only after your face or something. It won't last.
But secrets don't stay hidden forever. Soon after, Xi Changye learned the truth about the drowning incident. It turned out that Mu Wenxi really didn't know that he was the one who saved her. The person she thought was her savior was Jiang Ningyuan. Jiang Ningyuan had lied to her.
That day, he found Jiang Ningyuan late at night and asked, "Why did you lie to her?"
Jiang Ningyuan was somewhat bewildered: "What do you mean by lying to her?"
Xi Changye only uttered two words that were enough to make Jiang Ningyuan panic: "Fall into the water."
Jiang Ningyuan took a step back: "How did you know? Were you the one who saved her?!"
Xi Changye: "Anyway, it's not you."
Jiang Ningyuan: "Why don't you tell her? Why don't you tell her the truth?"
Xi Changye: "Because you lied to her first and she believed you."
After saying that, Xi Changye left. That day at the hospital, he thought Mu Wenxi would be able to guess who saved her, but he did not expect Jiang Ningyuan to impersonate her. Everything was so coincidental. Well, let her believe what she believes.
Jiang Ningyuan had been restless ever since Xi Changye left. Mu Wenxi noticed his unusual behavior and, as a friend, asked him with concern, "What's wrong?"
Jiang Ningyuan forced a smile. It seemed Mu Wenxi didn't know, which was good: "It's nothing."
From then on, Jiang Ningyuan carried the burden of feeling like an emotional thief.
Mu Wenxi had no intention of dating during high school. After Jiang Ningyuan confessed his feelings to her, Mu Wenxi rejected him. After being admitted to university, Mu Wenxi finally accepted his confession. However, Jiang Ningyuan always had a thorn in his heart, always feeling that Mu Wenxi was repaying a debt of gratitude.
But with the boy's daily companionship, Mu Wenxi found that this persistent boy was also quite nice, and gradually she really fell in love with him.
But adulthood brings too many troubles. Every argument and doubt is draining. At this time, Xi Changye reappears. Jiang Ningyuan is terrified. He is afraid that Mu Wenxi will one day find out the truth and forget that they were together because of feelings, not those illusory things.
Su Yanhe's shrill voice pulled Xi Changye back to reality: "Xi Changye, are you even listening?!"
For the first time, Xi Changye humbly asked Su Yanhe for advice: "Then what should I do?"
Su Yanhe: "What should we do? You, Xi Changye, are asking me what to do for the first time? Haha ...
There was some silence on the other end of the microphone. The next second, Su Yanhe remembered Xi Changye's murderous gaze and shuddered. He pretended to cough a few times and said, "I think you should sincerely apologize to Xiao Mu, send some flowers or something, try to please him, say some nice things. Ugh, forget it, you should just send more money. I don't think you can say anything nice."
Xi Changye hummed in agreement and hung up the phone, refusing to listen to Su Yanhe's nonsense any longer.
Su Yanhe was getting into the conversation when he heard the phone ringing. He was so angry that he almost smashed his phone: "Hey, Xi Changye, if I answer your call in the middle of the night again, I'll change my surname to yours."
After hanging up the phone, Xi Changye picked up his phone again and made another call: "Prepare flowers in the morning."
The subordinate, who received a call in the middle of the night, looked at his wife in bewilderment. Prepare flowers? What kind? And how many? The subordinate was stumped again. His boss could call him at this hour, but he couldn't call his boss at this hour. Oh well, what can you do when the boss pays so much?
The next morning, Mu Wenxi got up and opened the door. She was almost startled when she saw roses everywhere. They covered the ground from the doorway all the way downstairs. They were beautiful, but it was a bit difficult to walk on them.
Mu Wenxi tiptoed down the stairs, just as Xi Changye emerged from the kitchen. Surprisingly, amidst the roses scattered on the floor, Mu Wenxi found Xi Changye even more beautiful than the roses. She looked at Xi Changye with a puzzled expression: "Is today some special day?"
Xi Changye shook his head: "I'll give it to you. I apologize for what happened yesterday."
Mu Wenxi: "It's okay, thank you, it's beautiful. Just send me one bouquet next time."
Xi Changye also noticed something was wrong: "Okay, do you like this flower?"
Mu Wenxi: "It's pretty good-looking, and I quite like it."
Xi Changye: "Okay."
Mu Wenxi thought to herself, "I hope I don't receive another pile of flowers tomorrow," and quickly added, "I don't need to send them every day."
Xi Changye: "Okay."
Xi Changye heated up a cup of milk for Mu Wenxi and took her to work.
Mu Wenxi unbuckled his seatbelt: "Then I'm leaving. Be careful on your way back."
Xi Changye: "Okay."
Su Yanhe woke up early in the morning and called Xi Changye again: "How is it? How is it? Is Xiao Mu happy?"
Xi Changye recalled that her expression didn't seem happy, but rather more like a wry smile: "It's alright."
Su Yanhe found the answer a bit strange. Logically, the answer should have been either happy or unhappy, or something like "okay." He asked curiously, "What did you give me?"
Xi Changye: "A Rose".
Su Yanhe: "What do you mean by 'a piece'?"
When he learned that Xi Changye had spread roses all over the floor from Mu Wenxi's room door to the downstairs, Su Yanhe's expression was like that of a chameleon.
Su Yanhe: "Do you think this is a marriage proposal? A whole ground covered in roses, really? Aren't you being a bit too dramatic? And wouldn't yellow roses and forget-me-nots be better for an apology?"
Xi Changye said he would learn from his mistakes.
So when Mu Wenxi got off work, she saw Xi Changye standing not far from the company entrance, holding a bouquet of yellow roses. Mu Wenxi really wanted to laugh: "Ah Ye, didn't you just deliver some this morning?"
Xi Changye: "The flowers in the morning are not suitable for an apology, but these are."
Mu Wenxi: "Okay."
The two returned home together, where a table was laden with delicious food. Mu Wenxi noticed that all the dishes were her favorites. She sat down and asked, "Don't you have to work today?"
Xi Changye: "I'll stay with you today."
Mu Wenxi wondered why Xi Changye had suddenly become so romantic; perhaps he had some expert guiding him behind the scenes.
Xi Changye poured Mu Wenxi a glass of red wine: "Have a little bit."
Mu Wenxi: "Don't underestimate me."
A moment later, Xi Changye looked at Mu Wenxi, whose face was flushed, and said, "I knew it would be like this. I told you you could only drink a little bit."
