Xiao Liu: "Actually, I think you can sense whether someone likes you or not."
Wen Nanyin bit her lip: "But we've known each other for too long, I don't know if her feelings for me are friendship or something else."
Xiao Liu stared at him with wide eyes: "Are you serious? If this news gets out, it will definitely cause a huge uproar!"
Wen Nanyin looked at him, a dangerous glint in her eyes: "But I only told you." The implication was that if it were leaked, the person who leaked it would be Xiao Liu.
Xiao Liu quickly hugged himself, looking scared. Then he stroked his chin and said, "Let me think about how to tell? By the way, is the girl you mentioned your good friend from the interview?"
Wen Nanyin said firmly, "That's right."
Xiao Liu hissed and said, "Your situation is a bit complicated. If things go wrong, we might lose all our years of friendship. I think you need to test the waters."
Wen Nanyin: "How do we test them?"
Xiao Liu: "If you get sick, will she worry? When I was sick before, my girlfriend was so worried that she almost cried."
Wen Nanyin: "Yes, she will take my temperature and cook porridge for me, but she is currently abroad and cannot test me."
Xiao Liu: "When will she be back?"
Wen Nanyin took a deep breath: "I don't know, maybe one year, maybe two or three years. She said she wants to see her research results."
Xiao Liu paced back and forth in the dormitory with his hands on his hips: "This is troublesome. Wait a minute, if it's a friend, they'll worry if they get sick."
Wen Nanyin was somewhat worried. Just then, his roommate Xiao Fang returned. As soon as he entered, Xiao Liu quickly pulled him aside and asked, "How can I tell if my girlfriend really likes me or not?"
Xiao Fang quickly dodged: "What the hell? You, who have a girlfriend, are asking me, a single guy? Besides, how would I know if you have a girlfriend?"
Xiao Liu grabbed his arm and shook it back and forth, saying, "Hey, can you help me think of something?"
Xiao Fang brushed his hand away with a look of disgust: "She's your girlfriend now, of course she likes you, isn't that obvious?"
Xiao Liu: "No, no, no, what I mean is, if she's not my girlfriend yet, how would I know if she likes me or loves me?"
Xiao Fang was also a little troubled: "I haven't experienced it, but I know that if you like or love someone, you should do what's best for them. Aren't there often news reports and TV dramas where women get sick and men stay by their side, or where men are poor and women go through it with them?"
Xiao Liu snapped his fingers and winked at Wen Nanyin: "I understand. If someone likes you and loves you, they will share your joys and sorrows. If someone doesn't like you, they will definitely abandon you if you get sick or encounter difficulties."
Xiao Fang sat in his seat and shook his head: "Love is a source of trouble."
Wen Nanyin humbly asked, "Under what circumstances would someone run away from their own feelings?"
Xiao Liu: "Either I don't like you, or I love you too much."
Xiao Fang quickly shook his head.
Suddenly, Xiao Liu thought of something and slapped his forehead: "Oh, why don't we just ask the girls?"
Soon, Xiao Liu's girlfriend sent him a message, which Xiao Liu read aloud: "Girls will avoid relationships for many reasons. First, they love you too much and feel inferior or unworthy of you. Second, they feel there's no future in it. Third, the guy has someone else he likes..."
The three suddenly realized what was going on. Xiao Liu was exuding hormones towards his girlfriend on his phone, Xiao Fang felt a little bored and left, while Wen Nanyin seemed to be deep in thought.
After a while, he picked up the script again and started reading. The movie was about school bullying and depression. Wen Nanyin played the protagonist named Anan, a boy who suffered from depression after being bullied at school.
No one helped him, no one understood him. When Ananda was bullied and sought help from those around him, they said he was too cowardly. After he developed depression, they said he was too fragile and had too little ability to cope. In the end, Ananda felt that the world could not tolerate him anywhere and committed suicide by jumping into the sea.
Wen Nanyin spent an afternoon and evening reading the entire script without leaving his seat for a moment, even forgetting to eat dinner. After finishing the story, a sense of melancholy lingered in Wen Nanyin's heart, and his brows remained furrowed.
As soon as Xiao Liu finished showering, she saw her roommate, who seemed to be feeling quite depressed within a five-meter radius: "No way, this script has such a strong aftereffect? It feels like you're already a bit depressed even before you've started acting."
Wen Nanyin's thoughts were interrupted by his roommate. He got up and stretched, rubbing his back, which was a little sore from sitting for so long: "Hmm, this story is very profound, and the ending is not good. This role is very challenging!"
Xiao Liu was a little worried and kindly reminded him: "Then be careful, don't get too into the role. You know why many inexperienced actors don't like to take on these kinds of roles? It's because they have a strong aftereffect. Many veteran actors have gotten too into the role and never got out of it."
Wen Nanyin: "Thank you, I will ask the teacher for more advice."
After lying in bed, Wen Nanyin's mind was still filled with the story's plot. He tossed and turned, feeling as if he were already Ananda, until a message notification suddenly came from his phone next to his pillow, making him realize that a whole night had passed.
Mu Wenxi had just finished her experiment and stepped out of the lab, taking off her lab coat. Her eyes were a little dazed. Their project had made new progress, even if the progress wasn't entirely satisfactory. At least they had taken another step forward. She pinched the bridge of her nose, feeling somewhat tired.
The senior student who came out of the lab patted her on the shoulder: "You've been working overtime for many days in a row. Go back and get some rest first."
Mu Wenxi: "Okay."
She dragged her tired body back to her apartment, and without even washing up, she went straight to sleep, sleeping from the previous night until the next night. She got up to get something to eat, but then remembered something, lay down on the bed, picked up her phone, and thought, "It should be daytime for Wen Nanyin."
The last message in the chat history was from a week ago; she had spent almost the entire week in the lab.
Mu Wenxi: "Sorry, I just saw the message. The project hasn't made any progress lately. I've been in the lab for a week, and I'm so tired. I went straight to sleep after the experiment last night. How about you?"
Wen Nanyin turned off her phone and typed softly: "Are you staying in the lab all week? You need to take care of yourself. I'm about to start filming a movie script."
Mu Wenxi: "We have a small room outside the lab where we can rest when we're tired, but I haven't been back to the apartment for a week. Congratulations on finally becoming the male lead! What's it about?"
Wen Nanyin: "Thank you for remembering. It was a story about school violence and depression."
