Qin Lun returned to Mu Wenxi's side, jumped onto her shoulder, and whispered something to her for a while. Mu Wenxi slowly widened her eyes.
Yuan Jin asked curiously, "What's going on? Suddenly we don't have to fight anymore?"
Mu Wenxi answered his question: "The zombie at the door is the fifth-level zombie you mentioned before. No, it may be more than fifth-level because it has developed self-awareness. It said it wants to talk to us."
Yu Chaoyang: "A sixth-order zombie! He even has self-awareness."
Yuan Jin: "Oh my god."
Shui Ge: "What if he's lying to us? We can't beat him anyway."
Qin Lun told the zombies about his doubts, just like before, and they quickly gave them the answers.
Mu Wenxi: "He said that the zombies we killed before were all mindless, but these are different. If he wanted to kill us, he would have appeared long ago."
Yuan Jin: "That's right."
Mu Wenxi: "The choice is yours, Captain."
Yu Chaoyang pondered for a while and then looked at his other brothers.
Yuan Jin: "I believe you. If he were really a sixth-level zombie, he would have killed us long ago. But we've been here for so long and he has never appeared. All the zombies that have appeared are other zombies."
Shui Ge: "That's not necessarily true. What if the other zombies all listen to him?"
The other brothers shook their heads and looked at Yu Chaoyang: "Captain, you decide. If it weren't for you, we might be dead already."
"yes".
Yu Chaoyang looked at Mu Wenxi and nodded: "At worst, we'll fight him to the death."
Mu Wenxi looked at Qin Lun, who roared a few times outside. Soon, a response came from outside the door. Qin Lun stepped aside to signal Mu Wenxi to open the door. She held a watermelon knife and opened the door.
All the children held their breath. Xiaoxing stood in front of her grandmother, while Yuan Jin stepped aside to block Xiaoxing.
The door slowly opened, revealing a female zombie. Her skin was sallow and her eyes were sunken, but unlike other zombies, her skin was not rotting. Without close inspection, this zombie's appearance was not much different from some emaciated refugees.
She was still dressed and wearing shoes. Her gaze slowly swept over the people inside, who were all staring at her dangerously. She looked at Qin Lun and slowly walked into the room. Everyone in the hall took two steps back.
She seemed to sense the fear in the others and stopped going further inside, instead taking a step back and standing at the doorway.
The next second she seemed to want to take something out of her pocket, and the others' eyes narrowed, thinking she was going to take out some weapon, and they became wary.
She took out a card, held out her hand and handed it to Qin Lun, who then bit the card and handed it to Mu Wenxi.
Mu Wenxi took the card and saw that it was a person's identity card. The next second, her eyes flashed with overwhelming hatred: "Su Shicheng!"
Yu Chaoyang took the card: "Who is he?"
Mu Wenxi gritted his teeth: "It's the person who took Qin Lun away."
Yu Chaoyang took a deep breath: "So it was him."
Yuan Jin leaned closer: "What are you talking about?"
Mu Wenxi looked at the zombie: "Where did you find this card?"
The zombie made a strange sound, which Qin Lun understood and relayed to Mu Wenxi: "She said it's a dangerous base."
Mu Wenxi: "Can you take us there?"
The zombie nodded.
Mu Wenxi looked at Yu Chaoyang: "Qin Lun and I are planning to go with her. You guys stay here."
Yu Chaoyang: "I'll join you too. I don't want to live an unclear life."
Mu Wenxi nodded in agreement and then walked towards his grandmother and Xiaoxing: "I'm sorry, Xingxing. I promised to take you to fight zombies, but the situation seems a bit dangerous now. I don't know what dangers are in that place, so I can't take you there."
Xiaoxing: "It's okay, sisters. You all need to be careful. I'll stay here to protect Grandma."
Mu Wenxi: "Good boy, do you know where the food is?"
Grandma: "Don't worry, we know everything."
Seeing this, the other brothers also wanted to go.
Yu Chaoyang refused: "If you stay at the base and something happens, you can still survive. We can't be wiped out."
"team leader!"
Yu Chaoyang: "Don't worry, it's fine. Just don't go out these days, that's an order."
Everyone remained silent.
Yuan Jin: "Captain, I'll go with you."
Finally, Yu Chaoyang, Yuan Jin, Mu Wenxi, and Qin Lun followed the zombies in front of them.
The zombie made strange noises at Qin Lun, who jumped onto Mu Wenxi's shoulder and whispered, "Follow her."
Yuan Jin: "Where exactly is she taking us? She's not even attacking us."
A thoughtful look flashed in Yu Chaoyang's eyes.
In the darkness, the zombie nimbly jumped onto the air conditioner unit and reached the roof. She then ran swiftly along the rooftop. Fortunately, the other four had superpowers, otherwise they probably wouldn't have been able to keep up with the female zombie's speed.
The female zombie occasionally looked back to see if the group was still following.
Yuan Jin, slightly out of breath, asked, "Why don't we find a car?"
Yu Chaoyang: "Are you trying to attract all the zombies by driving at night?"
Yuan Jin: "That's right."
Yu Chaoyang: "Quiet down, or we'll attract other zombies."
The group ran for about two hours before the female zombie gradually slowed down.
If it weren't for the apocalypse, normal people wouldn't be able to withstand it. Fortunately, all of them have superpowers, and Yuan Jin and Yu Chaoyang were soldiers before, so their physical fitness is quite good.
Qin Lun sensed something and reminded him, "We're almost there."
Mu Wenxi recalled the map Yu Chaoyang gave him and the frantic run he had just completed: "This is probably in the southwest direction."
The female zombie suddenly stopped and waved to them; they had arrived.
In the darkness, Mu Wenxi could vaguely make out the outlines of the scene and buildings before her, and could imagine what a beautiful garden this place must have been before.
But now, the surrounding environment is dilapidated, overgrown with weeds, with rotting leaves and flowers on the ground, and a strange smell emanating from the soil. Cars not far away are all surrounded by strange plants, and strange vines and spider webs are wrapped around the iron gate.
Qin Lun: "Don't touch anything."
Mu Wenxi reminded the people behind him, "Everyone be careful, don't touch anything."
They slowly walked in. The female zombie stepped on the withered branches and fallen leaves on the ground and walked to a hole blocked by vines. She reached out and pulled at the vines.
Mu Wenxi saw what she was thinking, took out a watermelon knife, and swiftly chopped off the vines. The female zombie turned around and gave Mu Wenxi a soft growl, as if she were thanking him.
Beneath the vines was a bottomless hole. The female zombie jumped in first, followed closely by Qin Lun.
Mu Wenxi: "Let's go."
Yu Chaoyang and Yuan Jin entered one after the other.
