Chapter 244 Saving the Little Monsters in the Apocalypse 35 - Simple Daily Life 3

It was still dark when Mu Wenxi was awakened by the noise of the person next to her. She opened her eyes and saw Qin Lun getting up and walking outside.

Where are you going?

Qin Lun: "Sorry for waking you up. I can't sleep and I want to go for a walk outside."

Mu Wenxi: "I'll be with you."

Qin Lun nodded, took the clothes from the bedside, and draped them over Mu Wenxi, saying, "Be careful not to catch a cold."

The two climbed to the top floor, where a sliver of light peeked through the sky, like a tiny white line on a black cloth, so weak that it couldn't illuminate the city below. The surrounding buildings were the main characters in the darkness.

Mu Wenxi looked down and saw the city being rebuilt. She no longer had to worry about sudden zombie attacks. The temperature was a little low, so she pulled her clothes tighter and breathed deeply. It had been a long, long time since she had felt the simple pleasure of breathing. There was a faint scent of grass in the air, instead of the rotten smell of the apocalypse.

As the sun gradually rose, Mu Wenxi turned her head to look at Qin Lun, who was gazing into the distance: "The sun will eventually rise."

The people below have already started working to rebuild the city, and everyone is living life to the fullest.

Mu Wenxi gradually felt sleepy again and unconsciously rested her head on Qin Lun's shoulder. Qin Lun waited until it was fully light. When the sunlight shone on Qin Lun, he could hardly open his eyes, but he reached out and placed his hand in front of Mu Wenxi's forehead to shield her from the sun.

He closed his eyes and felt something warm and bright before him. His heightened senses of hearing and smell allowed him to experience the world again.

The faint breathing of Mu Wenxi nearby, the chirping of birds in the distance, the sound of people sweeping downstairs, the sound of fruit falling from the trees, the sound of cars starting up...

The scent of the person's hair beside me, the aroma of stir-fried dishes wafting from downstairs, the smell of breakfast, the fragrance of flowers and plants in the distance, the smell of gasoline...

He nuzzled Mu Wenxi's head, grabbed her hand, and felt the warmth of her hand. He could hear the sound of his own blood flowing and feel the warmth of his own body. He felt a sense of relief. It was so good that he could feel this world again.

Feeling a bit chilly while asleep, Mu Wenxi snuggled into Qin Lun's arms. Qin Lun smiled and pulled her into his embrace, holding her tightly.

Feeling each other's body heat, Qin Lun thought, "This is wonderful. There's probably only one person in this world who can accept him completely. She knows everything about his past, all his secrets, and most importantly, they are kindred spirits."

All the wonderful things he experienced were related to Mu Wenxi.

With comrades fighting alongside him, brothers with whom he could confide his secrets, and a doctor who helped him, he seemed to have found a reason to live again, a reason to accept himself and the world once more.

Mu Wenxi seemed to dream of Qin Lun in the laboratory. She floated in the air and said to him, "Don't be afraid, Qin Lun."

Qin Lun looked at Mu Wenxi in his arms, who had been telling him not to be afraid even in her dreams. His eyes reddened slightly. She must have mustered up a lot of courage to come to this world. This world had no family, no friends, and a group of zombies that could kill her at any time. Fortunately, she still had him.

"I'm not afraid anymore, because I have you."

Mu Wenxi felt like she had slept for a very, very long time. It was the most peaceful and longest sleep she had had since the apocalypse. Qin Lun held her and sat there for a long time until the whole sky turned white.

Mu Wenxi: "Ah, the apocalypse is over."

Qin Lun began to worry about other things: "Well, it's over, will you... leave?"

Mu Wenxi didn't react for a moment: "Leave? It can leave."

Qin Lun paused, a little scared in his heart: "Can you not leave? If you leave, I'll be all alone in this world again."

Mu Wenxi then realized what Qin Lun meant: "No, no, that's not what I meant. I won't leave this world. Aren't we still going to wander?"

Qin Lun: "Really? I thought you would go back to your world after the apocalypse ended."

Qin Lun was very perceptive, and Mu Wenxi knew what he was afraid of. It must be that her saying she wasn't from this world that frightened Qin Lun.

Mu Wenxi replied to him very seriously: "Don't worry, I won't leave this world. I will stay in this world with you until the end. I will only leave when this body's lifespan comes to an end."

Qin Lun asked curiously, "Do you have some reason for appearing in this world?"

Mu Wenxi: "Hmm, do you remember when I said I took over this girl's body? It was because I wanted to fulfill her wish."

Qin Lun: "What is your wish?"

Mu Wenxi: "I hope everyone has enough to eat and wear, and that no one is as unable to survive as she was."

Qin Lun: "That's great, thank you for saving me."

Mu Wenxi: "No, even if I don't save you, you will still escape."

Qin Lun: "But that's me from another world. In this world, Qin Lun has you. What kind of person are you in your world?"

Mu Wenxi was taken aback. No one from the small world had ever asked her this question before. She answered truthfully, "I am a robot with human memories."

Qin Lun: "A robot?"

Mu Wenxi: "Yes, so you don't need to hate yourself, because you have a human core, and everything else is just external."

Qin Lun: "Yes, you are the same. Even if you are a robot, you still have feelings and are very warm."

Mu Wenxi: "It's very novel. No one has ever said these things to me before."

Qin Lun: "Now we have it."

Mu Wenxi: "Hmm."

As the two walked downstairs, they ran into a man who was about to leave for work. He looked dejected and greeted them, saying, "Good morning. It's over, time to go to work again."

Mu Wenxi: "But the apocalypse is over, so we don't have to fight zombies anymore, and we don't have to worry about being afraid anymore."

The older brother sighed: "Actually, I'm still confused. I feel like I had a dream in which I was told I didn't have to go to work anymore. I was hiding and living in fear for more than two years, and when I woke up, the dream was over and I had to go to work again."

Mu Wenxi: "That must have been a nightmare. Keep going, bro, you're already very lucky."

The older brother nodded: "I know. I'm still recalling it now. It feels like the apocalypse is another reorganization of social classes. It's both fair and unfair. As long as you have superpowers and abilities, you can survive. Otherwise, no matter how rich you are, you might die at any time."

Mu Wenxi: "That makes some sense."

The older brother saw their luggage and asked, "Where are you going?"

Mu Wenxi: "Go wander."

The older brother nodded: "That's good too. Only after the apocalypse came did we realize that nothing is more important than life."

Qin Lun: "That's right, nothing is more important than happiness and companionship."

Big Brother: "Well said, I'm going to wander too. Whoever wants to take this class can take it."
