Chapter 246 Saving the Little Monster in the Apocalypse - Side Story: The Star's Nightmare

"Is it alright to leave him here alone?"

Ren Tingting: "But what if he turns into a zombie? Could you bring yourself to kill him?"

"Shh, stop talking."

In the middle of the night, the stars were woken from their half-awake state: "Are you leaving?"

"Let's find another place to rest."

Xingxing didn't think much of it and followed them to another place to continue sleeping.

When Xingxing woke up during the day, a chill ran down his spine. He didn't see his brother. Everything from last night was real, not a dream, but he couldn't say it. He felt uneasy and wary.

Later, they arrived in the capital, and the unease that Xingxing had once felt became a reality one day.

That day, Xingxing followed the team to do a mission as usual, and Ren Tingting went with them as well. Actually, Xingxing didn't understand why Ren Tingting, who didn't have any special abilities, insisted on going with them every time, and they needed several more people to protect her.

But no one else had any objections, and Xingxing didn't dare to say anything either.

They traveled to the mission location in a van. As before, Xingxing walked in the middle of the group, responsible for cutting down zombies and collecting crystal cores, and also able to spot and avoid danger in time.

Suddenly he heard Ren Tingting scream. He turned around and saw that a zombie was very close to Ren Tingting. She was only focused on screaming, "Xingxing, come and take me away!"

After flashing to Xingxing's side, he pulled Ren Tingting to a short distance away. However, he didn't notice the zombies that suddenly rushed towards them from behind. He only saw the terror in Ren Tingting's eyes. The next moment, he watched in disbelief as Ren Tingting pushed him away.

"you……"

Ren Tingting screamed, and the others quickly rushed to her side.

Meanwhile, Xingxing was bitten on the neck by a zombie.

Later, he saw the woman pretending to cry, telling her grandmother that he had saved her and that he had been bitten by a zombie while protecting her.

Xingxing never felt that Ren Tingting's crying was so fake. What would happen to Grandma if he left?

When Grandma heard the news, she just gave Ren Tingting a deep look. The next day, Grandma told Ren Tingting, who was pacing back and forth in front of her room, that she wanted to leave.

Ren Tingting smiled a little shyly: "Grandma, you can keep it, it's okay."

Grandma saw through her thoughts and felt a chill in her heart: "No need, I'm an old woman, I'm no good anymore, I can't be a burden to you."

Xingxing saw the cold smile on Ren Tingting's lips after her grandmother left. She rushed to her boyfriend's side and said, "It's a good thing she left on her own, otherwise I would have been too embarrassed to tell her that she has no special abilities and is of no value to us."

Xingxing watched his grandmother leave with a face full of anger. It was his carelessness. He followed behind his grandmother with great worry, but there was nothing he could do.

Grandma passed away without taking anything with her. A few days later, she was found dead in a building, clutching her grandson's belongings, and gone to sleep forever.

The team members would occasionally think of their grandmother and ask her a question.

Ren Tingting began to cry silently: "It's all my fault. If I hadn't made them do the mission, they wouldn't have died."

The man beside Ren Tingting began to comfort her: "It's not your fault. It's because they are incapable. It's because you took them in. Otherwise, they might have died at the hands of zombies long ago."

Xingxing was devastated. He had harmed his grandmother; he had failed to see the darkness in her heart.

Xingxing's heart ached, and Grandma patted the uneasy Xingxing beside her: "What's wrong?"

Xingxing woke up with a start, gasping for breath, and touched her grandmother's face beside her: "Grandma, am I still alive?"

Grandma pinched Xingxing's cheek: "Silly child, you had a nightmare, didn't you? Of course you're alive. Feel it, isn't Grandma here?"

Xingxing looked at his hand and used his superpower. It was level four, not level one, not level two, but level four. He wasn't dead. He was dreaming, but the dream was too realistic, so realistic that he couldn't distinguish between reality and illusion.

After this nightmare, Xingxing took several days to recover, telling himself that he must strengthen his abilities, because no one could help him except through strength.

It wasn't until he entered the forest again and encountered Ren Tingting once more that Xingxing remembered the nightmare of that night. He was covered in sweat; it wasn't a dream, it was another real world.

He saw Mu Wenxi and said with some emotion, "Sister..."

"What's wrong?"

Star: "It's good that you're alive."

Mu Wenxi: "It's good that you're alive."
