Unbeknownst to Mu Wenxi, Huo Jiangliu instructed Qi Yang to investigate who had spread the rumor.
One day after class, Qi Yang returned to his desk in a fit of rage.
Qi Yang: "Brother Jiang Liu, do you know who spread this rumor? Let me tell you, it was that wicked woman named Bei Ying. Didn't she used to pester you? How could she do such a thing? Ever since you became crippled, she hasn't bothered you anymore."
Huo Jiangliu frowned; in fact, he had already guessed that it might be Bei Ying.
Mu Wenxi looked at the book in Qi Yang's hand that was almost crumpled: "What's wrong? Why are you so angry?"
Qi Yang: "Do you know who spread that rumor?"
Mu Wenxi shook his head.
Qi Yang: "Hmph, it's Bei Ying."
When Mu Wenxi heard that Bei Ying had spread the rumor, she was surprised for a moment, but she immediately accepted it, since it was Bei Ying who had asked her to go to the Huo family, so it wasn't surprising that she spread the rumor.
Mu Wenxi thought for a moment and then told Huo Jiangliu and Qi Yang, "You two stay away from Bei Ying. Say that this woman will bring bad luck."
Qi Yang: "I think so. Ever since Brother Huo got entangled with her, nothing good has happened."
The three of them expressed a very consistent opinion on staying away from Bei Ying, but sometimes things don't go as planned.
Even though he was in his second year of high school, the school still arranged two physical education classes per week for the students, but physical education was Huo Jiangliu's least favorite class.
Because of his wheelchair, he is temporarily unable to participate in physical education classes, and even if he goes to the playground, he can only stand on the sidelines and watch.
You know, Huo Jiangliu used to be a key player on the basketball court, but now he can't play basketball with his friends.
So Huo Jiangliu stayed in the classroom alone. Mu Wenxi and Qi Yang originally wanted to stay, but Huo Jiangliu stopped them, telling them to go to class obediently.
Huo Jiangliu was doing his homework in the classroom when Bei Ying, who had come out temporarily to use the restroom, saw the empty Class 9 and Huo Jiangliu sitting alone in the classroom.
Sunlight shone on the boy, who was quietly doing his homework in his wheelchair. He was elegant and noble, and even the wheelchair could not diminish Huo Jiangliu's air of nobility.
Bei Ying walked into the classroom as if possessed.
Huo Jiangliu thought it was Mu Wenxi who had come back to see him, but when he looked up and saw it was Bei Ying, his face immediately fell: "What are you doing here?"
Bei Ying: "Huo Jiangliu, I didn't mean to not go to your house to take care of you..."
Huo Jiangliu interrupted her, saying, "I have no interest in knowing."
Bei Ying: "Huo Jiangliu, if you want me to..."
Huo Jiangliu looked disgusted and said, "Stay away from me."
Bei Ying unconsciously moved closer to Huo Jiangliu: "Why can Mu Wenxi do it but I can't?"
Huo Jiangliu shook off Bei Ying's arm as she tried to pull him away: "Are you out of your mind?"
Hearing his words, Bei Ying felt a surge of anger, and the words that had been on her mind blurted out: "What's so great about you? You're just a disabled person..."
Huo Jiangliu: "A disabled person can bankrupt your family right now."
Bei Ying: "No, no, I was just joking."
Huo Jiangliu ignored her and tried to leave the classroom in his wheelchair, but Bei Ying followed him reluctantly, apologizing and saying some strange things.
Huo Jiangliu's wheelchair was moving faster and faster, and they were almost at the elevator when a small pebble suddenly appeared in the previously smooth corridor. Huo Jiangliu's wheelchair jolted, and he almost slipped out of the wheelchair.
Bei Ying: Are you alright?
Huo Jiangliu realized that nothing good ever came of running into Bei Ying: "Shut up."
Bei Ying stood still.
Mu Wenxi was chatting and playing with her classmates on the playground when she suddenly had a bad feeling.
"I'm going to the restroom first."
"Okay, go ahead."
Mu Wenxi rushed back to the classroom and saw Bei Ying chasing after Huo Jiangliu's wheelchair. Before she could even speak, Huo Jiangliu's wheelchair almost tipped over, startling Mu Wenxi.
Mu Wenxi: "Jiang Liu, how are you?"
Huo Jiangliu breathed a sigh of relief the moment he saw Mu Wenxi: "It's alright, it's good that you're here."
Mu Wenxi glared at Bei Ying menacingly: "Bei Ying, what exactly do you want to do?"
Bei Ying: "I didn't intend to do anything."
Mu Wenxi: "You're not in your classroom during class time, but instead you've come to our classroom. What are you trying to do? I'll tell your homeroom teacher about this."
Bei Ying was so angry when she heard Mu Wenxi's tone that she almost died: "Mu Wenxi, don't think you're so great just because you've latched onto someone powerful. You're just a nanny, and he's just a disabled person."
Mu Wenxi disliked nothing more than people speaking ill of Huo Jiangliu: "Shut up."
Bei Ying thought Mu Wenxi was scared, so she continued to say some unpleasant things.
Mu Wenxi took a deep breath: "I'll now fulfill my duties as a bodyguard."
She grabbed Bei Ying's hair and shoulders, shoving her against the wall: "Why does your breath smell so bad? Didn't you brush your teeth this morning?"
Bei Ying screamed, "Let go of me! Let go of me!"
Mu Wenxi slammed her head against the wall with a force that was painful but wouldn't leave any marks.
Bei Ying: "Are you crazy, Mu Wenxi? I'm your cousin, how could you treat me like this? I'm going to tell my mom."
Mu Wenxi: "From the moment you pushed me into the Huo family, I have nothing to do with you anymore. You were the ones who pushed me into the Huo family. Don't forget that. If you keep talking like that, don't blame me for being impolite."
Mu Wenxi released Bei Ying's hair, which was in a mess, and even pulled out a small handful: "Stay away from us."
Mu Wenxi walked towards Huo Jiangliu, squatted down, and said softly, "How was it? Was I fierce? How did your bodyguard perform?"
Huo Jiangliu: "Fierce, very good."
Huo Jiangliu didn't find Mu Wenxi's behavior at all wrong; in fact, he thought her frightening appearance was somewhat cute, like a cat baring its teeth and claws.
Mu Wenxi: "You almost fell just now. I told you to stay away from her."
Huo Jiangliu felt wronged: "She was the one who insisted on coming up to me, and I was about to leave."
Mu Wenxi picked up the stone that Huo Jiangliu had almost dropped: "I don't know how this stone got here. It's all its fault."
She casually tossed the stone into the flowerbed: "Let's go back."
Huo Jiangliu: "Okay."
Mu Wenxi couldn't help but ask curiously, "What did she say to you just now?"
Huo Jiangliu: "It's nothing. I didn't listen carefully. I just thought she was annoying and wanted to go find you, but she followed me. It's really unlucky. Nothing good ever comes from running into her."
Mu Wenxi: "It's okay, I'll still help you drive her away next time she comes."
Huo Jiangliu: "Alright, then I'll leave it to you."
