He hadn't expected to agree to unchain Mu Wenxi so easily today. He even regretted it a little, but looking at Mu Wenxi's obedient sleeping posture, if she remained so obedient, he wouldn't mind giving her more freedom.
He knelt on the plush carpet, bent down, and kissed Mu Wenxi's instep. The person being kissed was asleep and didn't react at all. Soon, Xue Lin straightened up, grabbed his first-aid kit, and hurriedly left the room, his departing figure appearing somewhat disheveled.
When Mu Wenxi woke up the next morning, she felt much more comfortable without the chains on her body. She looked at her wrists and noticed that the area where the chains had been was a little cold. She leaned closer and smelled it; it seemed to smell like ointment.
She looked at her feet and touched them, finding something sticky on her ankles. Had Xue Lin come by last night? She hadn't felt anything. Honestly, she hadn't expected Xue Lin to apply medicine for her.
The wardrobe was still empty, and she was still wearing the same clothes as yesterday. This time, she opened the door easily.
The two bodyguards at the door greeted her respectfully.
One of them had a baby face, and Mu Wenxi knew his name was Xue Yi.
Xue Yi: "Madam, the clothes will be delivered shortly."
Mu Wenxi nodded: "Where is Xue Lin?"
Another bodyguard, who looked slightly more mature, replied, "The gentleman went to work after having breakfast."
Mu Wenxi wanted to go out, but Xue Yi stretched out his arm to stop her: "Madam, you can't go out."
Mu Wenxi: "Huh?"
Does that mean she hasn't stepped out yet? She looked down at her feet and saw a white line. Goodness, they even made a threshold.
Mu Wenxi did not force her way out. She would have her own way of dealing with Xue Lin when he returned. When she returned to her room, she said to the bodyguard, "I want to eat breakfast."
A minute later, the food cart was pushed up. Mu Wenxi's appetite was as good as before, and she quickly finished her breakfast.
Xue Lin's men acted quickly, bringing in a large quantity of clothes and books shortly after breakfast.
Mu Wenxi picked up a book and started reading with great interest. Finally, he didn't have to close his eyes to look at the system anymore. It was quite uncomfortable to be cooped up in bed all day, and it was also uncomfortable to sit or lie on the bed for too long.
While lost in thought, Mu Wenxi suddenly remembered something.
In the afternoon, Xue Lin returned early as usual. Mu Wenxi ran out when she heard the noise, but she was caught in a hug as soon as she ran out of the door. Her cheek bumped into the man's chest, and her nose hurt a little.
Mu Wenxi: "Hiss."
Xue Lin lifted her little head: "Did you bump into something?"
Mu Wenxi's eyes were almost overflowing with tears as she complained, "Why are you so hard?"
"puff".
As soon as she finished speaking, a laugh came from the doorway. Xue Lin gave him a cold look, then put his arm around Mu Wenxi and walked into the room, closing the door behind him.
Xue Lin's deep voice echoed in my ear: "Did you bump your nose?"
Mu Wenxi rubbed his nose: "Mmm."
Xue Lin: "Why did you rush out?"
Mu Wenxi: "I wanted to see you. You're back."
Xue Lin rubbed her nose for her.
Mu Wenxi secretly complained, "Your bodyguard won't let me leave my room. Can't I even take a walk around the villa?"
Xue Lin: "You want to go out?"
Mu Wenxi: "Hmm."
Xue Lin fell silent.
Mu Wenxi asked cautiously, "Don't you believe me?"
Xue Lin looked at her carefully for a while, and the suicidal thoughts in her eyes were gone: "I'll tell them."
Mu Wenxi nodded her little head, then pressed her advantage: "Can I watch TV?"
Xue Lin: "Okay."
Mu Wenxi: "Thank you."
Xue Lin realized he was becoming increasingly indulgent towards Mu Wenxi. He turned his head with some helplessness and saw the books spread out on the bed.
Xue Lin: "What books did you read today?"
Mu Wenxi: "There are so many, do you want to see them?"
Xue Lin: "You see, whatever books you want to read, let Xue Er buy them for you."
Mu Wenxi: "Oh."
After dinner, Mu Wenxi sat in the living room and watched TV. She was reluctant to stay in that room because the thought of the surveillance cameras made her feel uneasy.
Seeing that it was almost time, Mu Wenxi went back to her room, washed up, and went to sleep. She also cheered herself up, thinking that today's achievement was that she could move around in the villa. She thought that one day she would be able to go out, but she still had to take it one step at a time.
Late at night, a very faint sound came from Mu Wenxi's door opening. It was Xue Lin. He walked in, stood at the head of Mu Wenxi's bed, looked down at her for a while, and then said, "Is it you?"
Half-asleep, Mu Wenxi vaguely caught a sound and struggled to open her eyes. She barely managed to open them and saw a man standing by the bed. She almost screamed, but the next second she heard his slightly probing voice: "Is it you?" Mu Wenxi desperately tried to control her fear. What did he mean? Why was he saying that? A chill ran down her spine.
Xue Lin sat down by Mu Wenxi's bedside and sighed. Just as Mu Wenxi was about to give up, he said, "I can't wait any longer, Mu Wenxi."
Before Mu Wenxi could understand what he meant, Xue Lin got up and left her room.
Mu Wenxi opened her eyes. What did he mean? What was he waiting for? And who was "you"? Did Xue Lin know that she wasn't the original owner of this body?
Mu Wenxi's mind was incredibly active, imagining many possibilities, but in the end, he couldn't resist sleepiness and drifted off to sleep.
This was a strange dream.
Mu Wenxi found herself shrunk, looking only about five or six years old. She sat on the swing in the kindergarten with her cute little braids, swaying back and forth.
As night fell, almost all the children in the kindergarten had left, leaving only a few noisy figures. They weren't so well-behaved; they cried and fussed when their parents couldn't wait. The kindergarten teachers busily moved among them, comforting one child and soothing another, keeping them incredibly busy.
Only Mu Wenxi sat quietly without crying, earning the teacher's special praise.
She waited from dawn till dusk, until all the kindergarten children had left. Only then did Mu's mother arrive late to pick her up. She obediently greeted the teacher and said goodbye. As she stepped out of the kindergarten gate, she noticed a slightly older boy sitting to the side.
Mu Wenxi felt a surge of curiosity. Hadn't his parents come to pick him up yet? It turned out she wasn't the last one; there were others who were even later. This brother was truly pitiful.
Mu Wenxi thought for a moment, took out the candy from her little schoolbag, broke free from her mother's hand, and ran over.
"Brother, here you go. Don't be sad, Mom and Dad will be here soon."
Mu Wenxi stuffed the candy into the boy's hand, and before he could refuse, she quickly ran back to her mother.
