Xue Lin pulled her into his arms, and she tried to push him away, but her touch caused her to stiffen for a moment.
Xue Lin: "Go to sleep."
Mu Wenxi felt a little wronged, having just fallen asleep when she was taken advantage of: "Don't touch me."
Xue Lin: "Fine, I won't touch you."
He became increasingly certain that the person in front of him was his Xixi.
Mu Wenxi was dreaming again.
After school today, Mu Wenxi was assigned to stay behind to do cleaning duty, and it happened to be her turn. After throwing away the trash, she could go home. So she walked briskly to the school's trash room and quickly threw away her trash. However, as she turned to leave, she heard a sound of punching and kicking coming from behind the trash room.
Mu Wenxi finally couldn't resist his curiosity and quietly went forward to take a peek.
The older boy from before was now huddled in a corner, surrounded by several older classmates who were brutally beating him.
Mu Wenxi quickly ran over: "What are you doing? I've called the teacher over."
Classmate: "You're so old, why are you still asking the teacher to report you?"
Mu Wenxi: "Then I'll tell the principal that you beat up your classmates."
The students exchanged glances and quickly ran away.
Mu Wenxi ran towards the sitting boy: "Brother, are you alright?"
The boy recognized her: "It's okay."
Mu Wenxi looked at him suspiciously: "Are you really okay? Why did they hit you?"
The boy said coldly, "Because they are despicable."
Mu Wenxi: "Next time I hit you, you have to tell the teacher. We can't let them bully you like this."
The boy shook his head; he was so naive.
Mu Wenxi tried to help him up, but he dodged her. Seeing his silence, she could only leave with a heart full of worry. Little did she know that the entire group had been hospitalized the next day, and the culprit had never been found.
When Mu Wenxi woke up, the image of that boy reappeared in her mind. She was wondering why she dreamed of that boy again when...
But when she realized she was in Xue Lin's arms, she froze, not daring to move.
Xue Lin felt the gaze on her and looked at her: "Awake?"
Mu Wenxi nodded and quickly broke free from Xue Lin's embrace, getting out of bed.
Xue Lin smiled as he watched her retreating figure.
When Mu Wenxi came out of the room, her mother was making breakfast.
She thought of her dream last night: "Mom, do you remember where I kept my childhood photos?"
Mother: "It's in the cabinet in the study. Go find it yourself. What's wrong?"
Mu Wenxi: "It's nothing, I just wanted to reminisce about the past."
Mother Shepherd: "Go ahead, many of them are now in the study after the move."
Mu Wenxi: "Okay, I'll go take a look."
She hurried into the study, quickly located the cabinet her mother had mentioned, and gently opened the door. Inside were several thick photo albums. Mu Wenxi flipped through them one by one; each photo held memories of her childhood, strikingly similar to the scenes in her dream, even down to the school uniforms. However, in both the kindergarten and elementary school albums, the figure of the little boy who repeatedly appeared in her dreams was always absent.
A sense of doubt arose in Mu Wenxi's heart. She even dug out the group photo in her elementary school graduation book and searched carefully, but still could not find any trace of the little boy.
What exactly is going on? Is the little boy who keeps appearing in her dreams just a figment of her imagination, rather than a real person in the real world?
Filled with confusion, she turned on her computer and tried to search online for photos of all the students from that elementary school, but the results were still disappointing; the mysterious little boy seemed to have never existed.
How could this be? Who exactly is that person who haunts her dreams? Mu Wenxi was filled with curiosity.
Xue Lin knocked on the study door: "Dinner's ready."
Mu Wenxi put down the photo album: "You're here."
Seeing her hurried movements, Xue Lin asked, "What are you looking at?"
Mu Wenxi: "It's nothing, just a photo album from elementary school."
Xue Lin: "Hmm."
Mother Shepherd: "What are your plans for this afternoon?"
Mu Wenxi looked at Xue Lin, but Xue Lin didn't react. Mu Wenxi said, "Mom, we'll go back after lunch. Xue Lin still has work to do."
Father: "Leaving so early?"
Xue Lin: "Mom and Dad, I'll bring Xixi to visit you again in a few days. You can come to our house anytime you have time."
Mu Wenxi: "Yes, it's the same for you two, Mom and Dad, to come see me."
Mother Shepherd: "Alright, since you have work to do, you should go back first."
Mu Wenxi and Xue Lin nodded in agreement, and left in a hurry after finishing their lunch.
Xue Lin: "Going home or to the company?"
Mu Wenxi: "Let's go to your company."
Xue Lin: "Okay."
Mu Wenxi's mind was still preoccupied with last night's dream all day.
Xue Lin: "Didn't you sleep well?"
Mu Wenxi nodded: "A little bit."
Xue Lin: "Go to bed early tonight."
Mu Wenxi: "Okay."
Mu Wenxi went to bed early that night. Would Xue Lin come tonight? Would she dream about him again tonight?
For some reason, she even felt a sense of anticipation. She was determined to find out who that boy was, why she dreamed of him repeatedly, and why there was no trace of him in reality.
At twelve o'clock, Xue Lin finished washing up and went into Mu Wenxi's room as before.
He lit the incense stick and placed it on the bedside table, which had been there the night Xue Lin slept in a few days ago.
In Mu Wenxi's mind, Little A was screaming wildly.
"Stop yelling."
Little A: "Boss, the pervert is here again, he's lit incense again."
Mu Wenxi: "Don't make a fuss. It's definitely not poisonous. Do you think he would smell something poisonous?"
