Chapter 278 My Boyfriend is a Ghost (31 chapters - The End)

The police officers looked at each other in disbelief. It was the first time they had ever seen a thief so frightened by a police report that he exclaimed, "There are no ghosts in the world. We should believe in science."

Despite the police's attempts to calm him down, the thief remained terrified, repeatedly telling them that ghosts really existed and that he had actually seen one, while muttering about funeral portraits and refusing to confess to his crime.

Having no other option, the police brought the thief to Mu Wenxi's house: "Is this the house you were trying to rob?"

The thief dared not go in, but after glancing at the door number, he nodded and insisted on his idea: "There really is a ghost, there really is a ghost. When I went in, I heard someone laugh, and then I saw my portrait."

The police officers were speechless and could only ask Mu Wenxi if they could go in to check and if he had lost anything.

Mu Wenxi: "Nothing is missing yet, feel free to look around."

A policeman walked into the house and looked around. It was a two-bedroom, one-living room apartment with a sofa and a dining table in the living room, and thick carpets under the sofa and dining table.

Mu Wenxi: "It's a two-bedroom apartment. I live in one bedroom, and my parents live in the other guest bedroom."

The thief was handcuffed and stood at the door, too afraid to come in.

Policeman: "No problem, come on, didn't you say there was a ghost? Point it out to us."

The thief pointed to the kitchen: "There really is a ghost."

The policeman sighed and said, "Let's go take a look."

The kitchen was very clean and tidy. There were a few candles in the corner, some clean bowls and pots on the stove, and a large picture of Zhong Kui on the refrigerator next to it. There was nothing else.

The thief seemed quite surprised as he pointed at the candle: "I just clearly saw my portrait and the lit candle."

Mu Wenxi explained, "Those candles were for when the power went out."

The police seemed to have lost interest and took the thief away: "I think you're just feeling guilty. Listen to what they're saying. Did they know what you looked like beforehand? A funeral portrait and candles, take him back to the station to sober up."

The police noticed that Mu Wenxi lived alone and specifically reminded her, "Keep more men's items in your home in the future, otherwise you'll easily attract unwanted attention."

Mu Wenxi: "Okay, thank you. Actually, I had already prepared, but I don't know why I was still being targeted."

Police officer: "We'll take the person back to the station for questioning first. We can't rule out the possibility that the thief has been staking out the station for several days."

Mu Wenxi: "Okay, thank you for your help."

After finally seeing the police off, Mu Wenxi collapsed onto the bed and looked at Xiao Chang'an beside her, playing with his hair: "From now on, our family won't have to be afraid of ghosts or thieves anymore."

Xiao Chang'an: "Yes, they wouldn't dare."

Mu Wenxi: "Don't scare people like that next time."

Xiao Chang'an raised an eyebrow: "There shouldn't be a next time."

Mu Wenxi: "That's true."

Police station.

The thief sat in the interrogation room, his eyes filled with panic.

Police officer: "Tell me what exactly happened today?"

Thief: "I really saw a ghost. I picked up their door lock and heard a laugh. I thought I was hearing things. Then I heard the sound of bowls in the kitchen. I went to the kitchen and saw two candles suddenly light up. It's true, I'm not lying."

The two policemen exchanged a glance, and one of them said, "Why did you choose this place to commit the crime? How long have you been staking it out? Did you do any reconnaissance beforehand?"

The thief nodded: "I've been observing her for a few days and I've noticed that she goes to work during the day and is usually home alone after get off work in the evening, without any men around."

Police officer: "You know you're breaking the law, right?"

The thief, feeling guilty, remained silent, leaving the police speechless: "Don't think about such nonsense. It's probably because you've done too many bad things and are afraid of yourself. There are no ghosts in the world, don't be superstitious."

Police officer: "You should reflect on your actions. Look at yourself, you're already so old, you've spent half your life in jail. This time, you should learn your lesson."

Thief: "Hmm."

After the interrogation ended, the two policemen started chatting.

"This is truly the first time I've encountered something like this. Do you think it might really be a ghost?"

"Didn't you see it all yesterday? Where was the ghost? If there was a ghost, and the young girl didn't notice it, and the people in this building didn't notice it, would they still dare to live here?"

"That's true, but it's interesting that the girl placed a Zhong Kui image there."

"The Zhong Kui statue is for warding off evil spirits, but it means that someone is unlucky and has been targeted by someone."

"By the way, I'll call the girl when I have time and tell her the result."

"Okay, bro."

Mu Wenxi was at home with Xiao Chang'an when she received the call. They were about to go out to buy groceries.

"Okay, thank you. I've already had the lock replaced."

Since no one else can see Xiao Chang'an, Mu Wenxi prefers to stay at home on weekends, having meals and watching movies with Xiao Chang'an.

She put on a pair of headphones, grabbed a canvas bag, and prepared to go to the supermarket to buy groceries.

When the neighbor next door came out and saw Mu Wenxi, he even greeted her, "Did your house get burgled yesterday?"

"Yes, but he didn't steal anything. There's a picture of Zhong Kui on my refrigerator, and he got scared and thought it was a ghost."

"Is that so? I'll go buy one and stick it on too."

Mu Wenxi smiled and walked towards the elevator.

Xiao Chang'an, wearing a hoodie, followed Mu Wenxi into the elevator. Mu Wenxi started joking around with Xiao Chang'an when they were alone in the elevator, but returned to being quiet as soon as they got out.

In the supermarket, she picked up one dish after another and asked Xiao Chang'an if he wanted to eat them.

Xiao Chang'an kissed her earlobe: "Anything is fine."

Mu Wenxi stomped her foot, wanting to hit Xiao Chang'an, but then remembered something and restrained herself: "Don't do that."
