Mu Wenxi seized the opportunity to cut off its head and pick out the crystal core inside. Unexpectedly, it was a blue crystal core, transparent like the sky and sea.
She didn't dare linger and walked away with the crystal core.
In a small house in the distance, a man in a yellow shirt was observing with binoculars, whispering, "Someone's come in."
The man in red beside her froze for a moment: "Are you here to die again?"
The man in yellow shook his head: "This person is very strong. She might be able to save us. I saw her kill a level four zombie in just one minute."
The man in red pushed aside the man in yellow in front of the binoculars: "What did you say?"
The man in yellow said, "She killed a level four zombie in just one minute."
The man in red fiddled with his binoculars but couldn't see anyone: "What kind of superpower does she have?"
The man in yellow said, "I didn't see her use any special abilities. Hmm, it seemed like she had a watermelon knife with her."
The man in red looked somewhat grave: "She was able to kill a fourth-tier zombie with ease, which means that her strength is at least at the fifth tier or higher."
The man in yellow said, "Maybe it's a good thing."
The man in red said, "We only have a dozen or so brothers left."
The man in yellow remained silent.
After killing a zombie, Mu Wenxi realized the seriousness of the situation. The zombies in this city were definitely not that simple, otherwise there wouldn't be so many corpses at the entrance. It was the right decision not to let Grandma and Xiaoxing in.
She continued walking forward. Corpses were everywhere on the city streets, emitting a foul stench. Not far away were two zombies gnawing on a corpse that hadn't yet decomposed. They were wearing brightly colored clothes. Weren't they afraid of being discovered by the zombies by dressing so conspicuously?
They raised their heads at the sound of footsteps. One of the zombies raised its head and revealed its tongue hanging down to the ground. The tongue had sharp barbs on it, indicating that it was an evolved zombie. It gave a strange smile, licked the blood off its face, and let out a hiss.
Mu Wenxi knew something was wrong. Sure enough, a lot of zombies ran out from the street corner next door. They were very fast and at least level three. The densely packed zombies surged in like a tide.
She made a quick decision to run away first. The tongue-curling zombie was chasing closely behind Mu Wenxi. Mu Wenxi thought that she had to deal with it first, otherwise it would be troublesome if a group of them attacked her together.
She saw many air conditioners on the houses by the roadside. She suddenly jumped onto the air conditioners and climbed up one by one. As she looked down, the zombie was in hot pursuit. It opened its big mouth and stuck out its tongue. If Mu Wenxi fell down, it would be swallowed up.
Several times, Mu Wenxi felt its tongue was about to touch her. When she jumped onto the roof, she slashed off the zombie's tongue with a backhand. The zombie felt the pain and let out a mournful cry.
Mu Wenxi: "You idiot, are you a frog in disguise? Your tongue is so long."
The zombie lunged fiercely at Mu Wenxi, who dodged and instantly activated his superpower, stabbing the knife into the zombie's forehead. Upon closer inspection, the extracted crystal core was also blue.
Mu Wenxi's expression grew increasingly grave. The sun was slowly setting, and she hadn't found a place to rest yet. The situation was extremely dangerous, and she dared not even think about whether there were zombies of a higher rank than the blue one here.
Looking at the group of stupid zombies still climbing on the air conditioner unit, and then at the darkening sky, Mu Wenxi decided to leave first and find a place to stay.
She quickly found a still habitable apartment, drew the curtains, lit a few candles, and planned to absorb the two blue crystal cores she had collected that day. Judging from her encounter with the zombies during the day, these zombies were at least level four.
However, even at the fifth level, her superpowers could only confuse them for a few seconds, indicating that these zombies were much more dangerous than the ones before.
After swallowing two blue crystal cores in succession, Mu Wenxi's superpowers increased significantly. She lay on the bed, wondering how Qin Lun was doing.
After Mu Wenxi left, Qin Lun, his grandmother, and Xiao Xing stayed in the car. Xiao Xing touched Qin Lun's ear, but Qin Lun ignored him because he was just a little kid and jumped onto the windshield to look around.
As darkness fell and Mu Wenxi still hadn't returned, Xiaoxing grew anxious: "Why isn't my sister back yet?"
Grandma: "If she hasn't come back for a while, it's probably because she can't get away for the time being, or it's too dangerous inside. If she hasn't come out in three days, we'll go in and look for her."
Qin Lun wagged his tail, jumped into Xiao Xing's arms, and nibbled on his backpack. He didn't say anything. He didn't trust anyone except Mu Wenxi. Although Mu Wenxi trusted the two people in front of him, he couldn't let anyone know that he could speak.
Xiao Xing immediately understood: "You're hungry, Grandma, can we eat now?"
Grandma took out dinner for three people and divided it among them: "Eat up, you'll sleep in the car tonight and take turns keeping watch."
She specifically included Qin Lun because the creature that looked like a kitten was not an ordinary cat. She had already witnessed his prowess, but as long as they didn't hurt each other, Grandma was at ease.
The three of them had a peaceful night, but Mu Wenxi wasn't so lucky. She fell into a light sleep after absorbing two crystal cores.
But in the middle of the night, she heard a slight noise and immediately woke up from her bed. She grabbed the watermelon knife by her bedside, turned over and stood at the head of the bed. By the dim light of the candle, Mu Wenxi saw a zombie standing at her door. It was coming towards Mu Wenxi, and Mu Wenxi felt a wave of fear.
She quickly activated her assimilation ability, but it didn't work. The zombie slowly walked towards Mu Wenxi, uttering a human-like voice: "Save me...save me..."
Mu Wenxi seemed to be tempted to throw down the watermelon knife, but he immediately snapped out of it, pinched himself, and stepped back while still holding the knife.
The zombie was still making noises: "Help me, help me..."
It wasn't fast, but it seemed to be very good at deceiving people. Just when Mu Wenxi thought a fierce battle was inevitable, a sword suddenly shot out and pierced the zombie's head, and the zombie fell to the ground.
Mu Wenxi immediately looked towards the window, where a man swiftly and cleanly climbed in from outside.
He was dressed in yellow and holding a bow: "Luckily you weren't fooled by it. These zombies aren't fast, but they have the ability to bewitch people. Many of our brothers have died at its hands. I knew it would come."
He picked out the blue crystal core from the zombie's head and put it in his pocket, then looked at Mu Wenxi, saluted her, and extended his hand.
"Hello, my name is Yuan Jin, I'm a soldier in Unit 1735. This is my officer's ID. I noticed you during the day. Why are you here alone?"
