As night fell, he went to the market and bought the freshest pork ribs to cook for dinner.
A suspicious-looking man stood at the door of Miss Mu's house. He pretended not to see her and went back to his own home, but in reality, he was keeping an eye on the movements outside.
Mu Wenxi was drying her hair after taking a shower when the doorbell rang.
She went over and looked through the peephole to see that the person outside was Anhe. She didn't open the door and went back to the bathroom to dry her hair.
The doorbell kept ringing.
Her hair was almost dry, but Anhe was still pressing the doorbell. Annoyed, she opened the door a crack and said, "Aren't you annoying?"
Anhe smiled and said, "I knew you'd be home."
Mu Wenxi stood inside the doorway and asked impatiently, "What do you want?"
Anhe: "Wenxi, listen to me, they really forced me to do that thing at the company."
Mu Wenxi gave a disdainful look: "Alright, alright, you've said enough, haven't you?" Just as he was about to close the door, he saw An He pulling the door open to come in.
Mu Wenxi gripped the doorknob with both hands: "What are you doing?"
Anhe suddenly stopped the door with his foot: "Can I come in and talk?"
Mu Wenxi frowned, looking disgusted as if he had eaten shit: "You are not welcome in my home."
Anhe forcefully tried to enter the room, but Mu Wenxi was no match for her strength. She screamed and tried to push him out.
The crisp sound of the door opening reached their ears.
Song Xici walked over, carrying a plastic bag, and stood by the Anhe River looking at Mu Wenxi.
Mu Wenxi looked at him and saw him ask in a low, soft voice, "Sister, my kitchen is broken. Can I borrow your kitchen?"
Mu Wenxi blushed slightly. To speak to someone with such a handsome face like that was truly hurtful. Knowing that the other party wanted to help her out of a predicament, she nodded and pulled him in with her hand: "Okay."
Song Xici pushed past Anhe and entered the room. Anhe was a little surprised and didn't know who this person was: "Wen Xi, Wen Xi."
Song Xici handed the plastic bag to Wen Xi: "It's pork ribs. You go in first, I'll close the door."
Wen Xi immediately felt safe: "Okay."
Anhe was still shouting outside. Song Xici was more than a head taller than him. He turned around and stared at him with fierce eyes. Combined with Song Xici's cold and tough face, it was as if he was staring at a dead man.
Anhe unconsciously took a step back.
Song Xici pulled the doorknob and closed the door.
Anhe suddenly breathed a sigh of relief, wiping the sweat from his forehead. How could someone have such a terrifying look in their eyes?
The moment Song Xici turned around, the fierce look in his eyes vanished without a trace.
He looked down and saw Mu Wenxi still holding the ribs and looking at him. Her hair was pulled to one side and draped loosely. Her face, without makeup, looked particularly pure. His eyes darkened.
Mu Wenxi gestured for him to follow.
The two walked into the kitchen, and Wen Xi gestured with her lips: "Here, use it."
Song Xici avoided her gaze, not daring to look at her. His movements as he washed the ribs were somewhat sluggish, his mind filled with the fragrance of her body after her shower and her seaweed-like hair. He felt inexplicably thirsty.
"Thank you, Miss Mu."
Mu Wenxi leaned against the kitchen door, looking at the other person's beautiful profile: "You're welcome, just call me Wenxi. Thank you for helping me just now."
Song Xici hesitated for a second or two before asking, "Is that person your boyfriend?"
Mu Wenxi laughed: "Are my eyesight really that bad? No way. He was a colleague of mine at my former company. I've already left, so he's no longer a colleague. He's just a despicable person."
Song Xici sensed the other person's disgust: "What did he do? Can you tell me?"
Watching Song Xici's slender, well-defined hands take vegetables out of the plastic bag to wash, only one idiom flashed through her mind: "beauty that is pleasing to the eye."
"Oh, it's just workplace bullying."
Song Xici paused in washing the vegetables, a hint of fierceness flashing in her lowered eyes, but her question was very gentle: "Do you need any help?"
Mu Wenxi continued to admire the other person: "No need, I've already filed for labor arbitration, don't worry, it's nothing serious."
Song Xici nodded. He had been stared at for a long time and was getting more and more uncomfortable. His ears turned as red as a rabbit's. Realizing that the other person had no intention of leaving, he could only ask awkwardly, "Want to eat together?"
Mu Wenxi smiled; she was indeed a little tempted: "Okay, you're really something. I still have some food left, thank you for your help."
Song Xici particularly enjoyed her praise: "You're welcome."
After cooking the ribs, I also washed the vegetables that Wenxi had bought and cooked three dishes and a soup, which was a very sumptuous meal.
Mu Wenxi gave a thumbs up: "Delicious! Your cooking skills are amazing, much better than mine."
Song Xici said shyly, "It's alright."
Mu Wenxi asked curiously, "By the way, are you younger than me? I heard you call me 'sister' just now."
Song Xici suddenly choked: "I'm 24."
Mu Wenxi puffed out her cheeks: "That's so young. I'm already 28, I'm old."
Song Xici almost blurted out "not small," but luckily he managed to control himself.
He looked at the other person's youthful face: "Not old."
Mu Wenxi: "May I ask what your specific job is? You can work from home, are you perhaps a chef?"
Song Xici took a small bite of meat from the rib: "I'm a programmer."
Mu Wenxi's mouth dropped open: "Wow, that's amazing!"
She couldn't help but suddenly touch Song Xici's hair: "No, I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. You have so much hair. I thought all programmers were bald."
Song Xici was stunned, then almost burst out laughing: "It might be genetic. I have a few friends who do have very little hair. What did you do for a living before?"
Mu Wenxi: "Me? I used to work on projects for the company and take on business, but I haven't found my next job yet. I'll tell you what I do when I find one."
Seeing how much Song Xici enjoyed eating, Mu Wenxi felt like a loser.
She thought for a moment and then said, "But do you programmers experience workplace bullying? Otherwise, I don't know if you can handle it."
A barely perceptible hint of heartache flashed in Song Xici's eyes: "We have relatively few [employees], we just work overtime."
After finishing her meal, Wen Xi thanked him again: "Thank you for helping me today."
Song Xici pursed her lips and smiled, "You're welcome. If you encounter any danger, you can call me or give me a call."
Mu Wenxi: "Okay, let's exchange contact information then."
The two of them started clearing the table.
Mu Wenxi stopped Song Xici from washing the dishes: "I'll do it. You cooked all the meals, so it's not right to eat if you don't let me do some work."
Song Xici watched Mu Wenxi wash the dishes, lost in thought. Looking through the peephole, she saw that the person from before was gone.
"The person has already left, I'm going back now."
"good".
He left slowly, looking a little reluctant.
Wen Xi stood at the door and greeted him: "Bye-bye, get some rest tonight, goodnight."
Song Xici: "Goodnight." Sister.
