The two bickered while doing their homework. Although Xue Lin didn't go to school, he didn't fall behind in his studies.
At noon, the housekeeper invited Mu Wenxi to stay for lunch, and Mu Wenxi did not refuse: "Your food is so delicious, can I come again in the future?"
Xue Lin: "No."
Butler Uncle: "Sure, come whenever you want."
Mu Wenxi looked at Xue Lin: "Why can't I come? Is it because your family's food is too delicious?"
Xue Lin: "Of course not."
He didn't want her to know his secret, otherwise she would definitely be scared and he would have to drive her away.
In the afternoon, Xue Lin remained silent, and Mu Wenxi did not ask. How could she not know the intricacies in Xue Lin's mind?
Xue Lin couldn't bear to speak harshly to her, but he still didn't want her to come again: "Go away, and don't come next time."
Mu Wenxi: "Okay."
After the butler sent someone to take Mu Wenxi back, Xue Lin stood at the villa entrance watching.
Butler Uncle: "Since the young master is so reluctant, why not let Miss Mu come?"
Xue Lin turned around: "No need."
His world was already dirty and dark enough; how could he drag Mu Wenxi down with him?
Xue Lin returned to his room on his own, and the housekeeper thought to himself that he was really stubborn.
On her way back, Mu Wenxi kept thinking. She was very curious about what was going on with Xue Lin. She hadn't seen Xue Lin's parents in the two days she had been to the Xue family, but she wouldn't ask them directly. She had a feeling that she had plenty of time and that this dream was going to be long.
Another week passed, and as Mu Wenxi packed her schoolbag to go to the Xue family, a torrential downpour began. Mu Wenxi hated the dampness of rainy days, so she canceled her trip to the Xue family that day.
In the Xue family's room, Xue Lin stood by the window, waiting for someone. She watched from morning till night, but no one came.
"Is she really not coming?"
Butler Uncle: "Young Master, shall I make a call to Miss Mu?"
Xue Lin: "No, we can't fight. If they don't want to come, they don't want to come. I don't care."
The butler shook his head, saying it wasn't anything special; after all, who had been standing by the window waiting all day?
Xue Lin couldn't sleep. He thought to himself, "Sure enough, I'm always the one who gets abandoned."
The next day, Sunday, the sky cleared up.
Mu Wenxi opened the window and looked out: "The weather is nice, Mom, I'm going to my classmate's house to play."
Mother Shepherd: "Okay, be careful on the road, and remember to come back for dinner."
When Mu Wenxi arrived at the Xue family villa, the bodyguard at the gate recognized her and opened the door for her. Before she had walked a short distance, the butler came to pick her up in a convertible.
“Miss Mu, you’ve arrived. You didn’t come yesterday, and the young master waited for you by the window all day.”
Mu Wenxi: "Ah, did he wait for me all day yesterday? I saw the weather was bad yesterday, so I didn't go out. I should have come."
Butler Uncle: "It's alright, it's the same as coming today. Young Master will definitely be very happy."
Mu Wenxi nodded.
Xue Lin got up early and had breakfast. He stood in the same spot as yesterday, so when Mu Wenxi arrived, Xue Lin saw him immediately. He quickly left the window and pretended to be doing his own thing.
After a while, Mu Wenxi knocked on the door: "Brother, I'm here. What are you doing?"
Xue Lin ignored her.
Mu Wenxi stepped forward and explained, "The weather was bad yesterday. I hate rainy days the most. My shoes get wet and my pants get all wet, so I didn't come. Are you happy that I came today?"
Xue Lin thought to himself, so that's why she didn't come, not for any other reason than the bad weather.
He did not answer.
Mu Wenxi: "Then I'll take it as you being happy."
She took her homework out of her bag and put it on the table to write. She was so focused that she didn't even notice when Xue Lin occasionally stared at her in a daze.
It wasn't until almost dinner time in the afternoon that Mu Wenxi prepared to pack her schoolbag and leave.
"I'm leaving now, I'll come back next week."
Xue Lin hesitated, then the butler asked, "Miss Mu, would you like to stay for dinner?"
Mu Wenxi shook her head: "No need, I promised my parents I would come home for dinner."
The butler looked at Xue Lin, but Xue Lin didn't react, so he could only take the initiative to send someone to take Mu Wenxi home.
Mu Wenxi: "I'll come again next time."
Xue Lin wondered, when will the next time be?
When Mu Wenxi visited the Xue family for the third time, Xue Lin's illness relapsed.
The butler shook his head at her.
Mu Wenxi: "Did someone hurt him?"
The butler hesitated for a long time before finally telling Mu Wenxi.
It turns out that Xue Lin's parents returned this week, but after learning about Xue Lin's illness, instead of taking care of him, they verbally abused him, saying that Xue Lin was not worthy of being the heir of the Xue family and not worthy of being their son.
Xue Lin didn't want to either. He didn't want to be an heir, much less their son. He had known all along that they were lying to him. They had divorced long ago and started new families, yet they still had to put on this disgusting performance in front of him.
Perhaps it was for the sake of his bloodline and the last remaining value he possessed.
"Kill those disgusting people, they don't deserve to be your parents..."
"Lock them up and make them grovel at your feet..."
"This world is terrible, everyone should fall into darkness like you..."
Xue Lin couldn't take it anymore. Every day, another person was speaking in his mind. That person wanted to control his body and wanted the world to be destroyed. One morning, when Xue Lin opened his eyes, he felt something sticky on his body. He looked closely and found that the other person in his body had hurt him.
The doctor prescribed a lot of medicine for him, but he didn't want to take it at all. He felt that he wasn't sick, so why should he take medicine? He started lying and saying that he was taking medicine, but his condition worsened after a week.
When Mu Wenxi arrived, it was the day Xue Lin was at his worst. He tried his best to control himself, afraid that Mu Wenxi would discover his illness. But Mu Wenxi seemed not to notice and called him "brother" as before.
As he left, Mu Wenxi handed him a piece of candy.
Do you remember this?
Xue Lin nodded.
Mu Wenxi: "Eat."
Xue Lin didn't eat the candy; he put it away.
Mu Wenxi: "Get well soon, I'll be with you. You need to see the doctor and take your medicine properly."
Xue Lin felt like he was going crazy. He listened to Mu Wenxi's advice and started taking his medicine on time and getting proper treatment.
Mu Wenxi came every week. Except for special circumstances, she would stay at the Xue family home every weekend. Once, she even witnessed the wickedness of Xue's father and mother.
Why don't you just die?
"I really regret having you!"
Mu Wenxi covered Xue Lin's ears tightly and told him, "Don't be afraid. It's precisely because they can't hurt you in any other way that they attack you with words."
Xue Lin couldn't hear any of the malicious words; all he could see was the girl in front of him who was tightly covering her ears.
