Chapter 136 A Profligate Rich Kid vs. A Cool and Aloof Little Mute Girl (19)

Chen Xinji led Lin Zhenzhen to a secluded place.

After settling Lin Zhenzhen down, he ran off again, returning a while later with a large plate of small cakes.

"Go ahead and eat. Isn't it said that girls are happy when they eat sweets?"

Lin Zhenzhen forced a smile. But no matter how hard she tried, the desolation in her eyes was undeniable.

Chen Xinji squeezed down next to her and said, "Yu Jiamu isn't acting normally tonight. He might be out of his mind. Don't take it to heart."

Lin Zhenzhen lowered her eyes; Yu Jiamu was indeed acting strangely tonight.

He's simply... unfairly handsome.

Lin Zhenzhen secretly savored the scene she had just caught a glimpse of.

Those long, straight legs encased in suit trousers, and the close-fitting cut that accentuated their broad shoulders and narrow waist.

Wow, how can someone completely change their style just by changing their clothes?

Seeing her so distraught, Chen Xinji cursed Yu Jiamu a hundred times over in his heart.

If I had known it would turn out this way, I should have stood up and stopped Yu Jiamu when he provoked Ling Zhen.

"Damn it, that bastard Yu Jiamu."

"Next time you want to insult someone, you can do it behind their back."

Lin Zhenzhen raised her head and met those beautiful peach blossom eyes.

She paused for a moment, then her eyes welled up with tears, and she hurriedly lowered her head to hide them.

"Even if you come, I'll still yell at you..."

Yu Jiamu pushed him away expressionlessly and sat down next to Lin Zhenzhen.

Chen Xinji hesitated several times before turning away angrily, leaving them completely alone.

Noticing that the sofa next to her had dented, Lin Zhenzhen shifted her gaze slightly to the left.

Yu Jiamu's right leg was bent, and the folds of his trousers were straightened, revealing the clear outline of his knee.

His left toe was pointing towards Lin Zhenzhen, and the gleaming black leather shoe reflected the overhead light.

Those long, slender hands with distinct knuckles rested on her thighs, fingers spread out, the veins undulating faintly visible.

Yu Jiamu remained silent for a long time, staring blankly into the air as if in a daze.

Lin Zhenzhen didn't move either. She sat quietly, as if keeping company or silently protecting someone.

A low laugh suddenly came from beside me.

Lin Zhenzhen looked up and saw Yu Jiamu's lips curl slightly.

Do you know what day it is today?

Lin Zhenzhen gently shook her head.

"It was my grandfather's funeral."

Yu Jiamu opened his eyes and swept his gaze across the hall with an icy look.

"Do you see someone here who is sad for him?"

Lin Zhenzhen followed his gaze and saw that everyone had a polite smile on their face. They were in twos and threes, chatting and laughing.

Including Chen Tiantian, who was clearly dressed up carefully, shedding her usual arrogance and transforming into a weak and helpless parasitic flower, clinging to Yu Jiaheng's side.

Yu Jiamu shook his head and said self-deprecatingly, "But I also know that this outcome is actually a relief for the old man."

“Two years ago, when my grandmother passed away, my father and four uncles hired more than a dozen reporters and they completely blocked the hospital room. They surrounded my grandfather’s hospital room and wept bitterly.”

"They actually woke the old man up by crying. Hey, isn't that a medical miracle?"

Yu Jiamu's tone was raised, but his eyelids drooped lazily.

"How did the media report it back then?" He chuckled. "A loving couple, filial piety and brotherly love? Ha, it was all bullshit anyway."

"Among the younger generation, I am the one the old man likes the most. I know best what he is thinking."

"He must have been thinking, 'Could someone come and take this oxygen mask off my face?'"

At this point, Yu Jiamu subconsciously reached into his pocket, only to find it empty, and he visibly became irritated.

Lin Zhenzhen guessed that he wanted to touch the cigarette box.

She reached out and gently placed her hand on his shoulder.

Yu Jiamu tilted his head, his beautiful peach blossom eyes slightly upturned, staring intently at Lin Zhenzhen.

"Can you understand what I'm saying?"

Lin Zhenzhen lowered her eyes, seemingly deep in thought.

Then she nodded, then shook her head uncertainly.

Yu Jiamu chuckled and said, "Forget it, you don't need to understand."

Lin Zhenzhen quickly shook her head, perhaps feeling that this was not enough to express her feelings, and hurriedly took out her phone.

Type a line in the dialog box: But I want to understand, I want to know you better.

Yu Jiamu looked down at the line of text for several seconds before asking, "Where's your notebook?"

Lin Zhenzhen typed an explanation: "My younger brother took it away. He said it wasn't suitable to bring in, it's a bit silly."

Her lips pursed slightly, as if she was somewhat unconvinced by the assessment.

Yu Jiamu suddenly raised his arm, bringing it a few centimeters from Lin Zhenzhen's cheek, as if he wanted to embrace her.

But in the end, his hand still gently fell, merely stroking the hem of her skirt.

"Chen Xinji is right, he is indeed a bit silly." Not just his notebook, he's a little silly too.

Yu Jiamu stood up, raised his chin slightly, straightened his collar, and glared at her with a sharpness she had never seen before.

This is not a place for you.

He waved to the side, and someone immediately stepped forward.

"Please take Miss Ling home for me."

The man stepped forward respectfully and stood in front of Lin Zhenzhen.

"Miss Ling, please follow me this way."

Lin Zhenzhen walked around him and spread her arms to block Yu Jiamu's path.

She looked up at him, her eyes filled with stubbornness.

Go back, you don't belong here.

Lin Zhenzhen was so anxious she almost cried, and even started using sign language.

Yu Jiamu frowned: "I don't understand."

Lin Zhenzhen pulled him towards the door.

If she remembered correctly, she saw it through the window on the outer wall when she came in.

The two walked hand in hand through the hall, attracting the attention of many people.

Yu's father, who was some distance away, turned to Yu Jiaheng and asked, "Who is that girl?"

Yu Jiaheng smiled enigmatically: "Chen Houwen's daughter is quite interesting."

Lin Zhenzhen led Yu Jiamu through a maze of turns, finally stopping in front of a room.

Yu Jiamu stared at the door, his expression terrifyingly grim: "Why did you bring me here?"

Lin Zhenzhen raised her hands and made a playing motion.

She pushed open the door, and by the window, a black piano was bathed in moonlight.
