The nurse kindly tucked her in.
Lin Zhenzhen smiled at her, and when she looked up again, she saw a figure standing by the door.
The two gazed at each other quietly for a while.
Only after all the nurses had left did Yu Jiamu close the door behind him and go inside.
His complexion was frighteningly bad; even from a distance, Lin Zhenzhen could see the bloodshot veins in his eyes.
There was a stool right next to her bed, but Yu Jiamu just stood on the bed, as if he was deliberately keeping his distance from her.
Realizing this, Lin Zhenzhen lowered her head somewhat dejectedly.
Yu Jiamu took in all of her expressions.
His hands unconsciously clenched into fists. He took a deep breath and stepped closer to her.
Lin Zhenzhen looked up, and because of his little gesture, a hint of joy flickered in her eyes again.
In front of her, she seemed unable to hide any of her emotions.
Sadness, happiness, anger, and worry—all could be clearly seen through those clear eyes.
Yu Jiamu handed the paper and pen to Lin Zhenzhen and explained, "Didn't you say you wanted to see me? What do you want to say?"
Lin Zhenzhen nodded, picked up her pen, and wrote as the light shone down from above her head.
She's very well-behaved.
But the more obedient she was, the more intense the dull pain in Yu Jiamu's heart became.
Lin Zhenzhen finished writing and handed the notebook to Yu Jiamu, her eyes full of anticipation.
The paper read: Did you come all this way just to see my performance?
Yu Jiamu recalled what Dr. Zheng had just said.
"She seems to have no memory of what happened, possibly due to the effects of the medication, which caused her to lose that part of her memory."
"I heard there's something called 'obedience potion' on the black market. After taking it, you not only lose consciousness, but you also forget what happened before and after taking the drug."
"Of course, patients may also experience intermittent amnesia because their brains activate a self-protective mechanism due to excessive stimulation."
Either way, it made him want to kill.
Yu Jiamu's back teeth were clenched so hard they hurt, but when he faced Lin Zhenzhen, he still managed a smile.
"Yes, that's right. I saw it, you did a great job."
Lin Zhenzhen lowered her head as if she were a little shy.
The nib of the fountain pen touched the paper, leaving a bluish-black ink stain.
Just like her current fluctuating mood.
Lin Zhenzhen picked up her pen again: Thank you for the compliment. I didn't see you on stage, and I thought you weren't here.
"I'm standing in the last row, you probably didn't see me."
Yu Jiamu hummed a melody softly through his nose.
He watched the video that Wang Jingrou sent him repeatedly, and had memorized the piece that Lin Zhenzhen played.
"That's how it is, right?"
His voice rose slightly at the end, as if he were coaxing a child.
Lin Zhenzhen nodded happily.
She continued writing: Wasn't I backstage? Did I faint because my low blood sugar flared up again?
Yu Jiamu's Adam's apple bobbed, and he gave a soft "hmm".
Lin Zhenzhen blinked: Did you bring me to the hospital?
Just as Yu Jiamu was about to answer, there was a knock on the door.
Wang Jingrou's voice rang out from outside the door.
"Jiamu, may we come in for a moment? The police officer would like to know more about the situation."
Yu Jiamu's expression darkened, and he got up and pushed open the door.
The three people were pushed back several steps by his arm.
"What's wrong?"
After confirming that the door was closed tightly, Yu Jiamu turned around and said, "Ling Zhen doesn't remember anything."
The two policemen looked at each other in bewilderment.
"You really can't remember?" Wang Jingrou found it hard to believe. "Can't you recall anything at all?"
Yu Jiamu frowned: "Hmm."
One of them suggested, "Could we try to guide her to regain her memories?"
The man in front of him swept his gaze coldly over him: "I don't think it's necessary."
“But that would put the investigation in a very passive position. The existing evidence only points to the fact that the relationship between the two was consensual. If Ms. Ling can provide more details, it will be more likely to overturn the other party’s testimony.”
“They didn’t happen,” Yu Jiamu interrupted him directly.
The man took a deep breath: "Mr. Yu, I understand how you feel, but we are doing this in order to help Miss Ling."
Yu Jiamu raised his chin, his eyes revealing an undisguised sharpness.
"Thank you, I can handle it myself."
Wang Jingrou grabbed him and asked, "What are you planning to do?"
Yu Jiamu broke free from her hand
"You don't need to worry about that."
His tone was indifferent: "Third sister-in-law, thank you for your help, but we don't need you here anymore."
"Also, when you get back, please keep your mouth shut."
Wang Jingrou was so angry that she was trembling. At that moment, she really wanted to just quit and leave.
But if Yu Jiamu is allowed to act recklessly, it could really lead to someone's death.
How could she stand idly by when she thought about all that?
"I must have owed you something in my past life!" she cursed as she dialed the phone.
"Uncle, it's me, Jingrou. Could you please do me a favor?"
When Yu Jiamu returned to his room, Lin Zhenzhen was engrossed in drawing something.
Upon seeing him enter, she hurriedly flipped through the pages, covering up what had been written earlier.
"What's wrong?" Yu Jiamu forced a smile and ruffled her hair.
Lin Zhenzhen: Did the police just come?
Yu Jiamu's expression remained unchanged.
"Traffic police, my car was in a minor accident just now, but it's been resolved."
