The person in charge of guarding the underground bar was looking at the sign in Lin Zhenzhen's hand.
"This is Jim's work badge."
Lin Zhenzhen calmly hummed in agreement.
The staff member was amused by her reaction: "You're still saying 'uh'? Do you think I'm blind? Do you look the same as the person in the photo?"
“It’s different.” Lin Zhenzhen’s voice was low and hoarse. “I killed Jim, so I’m here to take over his job. Is there a problem with that?”
“You killed Jim.” The staff member raised an eyebrow. “If that’s the case, then there’s no problem. But are you sure you want to take over his job?”
"Yes." Although I didn't know exactly what to do, I went in first and figured it out later.
"Okay." He lowered his head and started typing something on the screen.
"Name."
Lin Zhenzhen revealed her fake ID card: "Karl."
Give me your hand.
Upon hearing this, Lin Zhenzhen extended her right hand.
The staff member pressed a stamp on her hand, which looked somewhat like the quarantine stamp used on pigs at a pig farm.
"Alright, go in."
The large door slowly opened, revealing a dimly lit staircase that stretched as far as the eye could see.
The man propped his legs up on the table and exhaled a smoke ring with a contented look: "Have a good day at work, and be careful."
Lin Zhenzhen went down the stairs and saw another small door with four large characters written crookedly on it: Employee Passage.
She reached out and pushed the wooden door, but it remained unmoved.
A man's voice came from the other end of the door: "Knock!"
Lin Zhenzhen was speechless, but she still did as he said and knocked heavily on the door three times.
Suddenly, a long tentacle emerged from the crack in the door. The tip of the tentacle slowly opened, revealing a huge eye.
"Who are you?"
Lin Zhenzhen calmly replied, "New employee, Karl."
The person's eyes on the antennae were narrowed to slits, and they were muttering something to themselves on the other side of the door, as if they were talking to someone.
After a while, he said, "Show me the seal."
Lin Zhenzhen did as he was told, raising her right arm and placing it in front of his eyes.
"Confirmed."
The door was opened from the inside.
Lin Zhenzhen walked in and casually glanced at the corner.
Upon noticing her gaze, the man immediately became displeased, whipping his two antennae around.
"What are you looking at? Haven't you ever seen a snail mutant before?!"
...Sorry, I've never seen it before.
Lin Zhenzhen feigned composure, gave a cold snort, and continued walking inside.
As she walked, she suddenly realized that no one had told her what her job entailed.
Lin Zhenzhen looked around. In front of her was a large bar, with booths scattered around it.
The lighting was dim and the music was soft.
If you ignore the strange creatures that occasionally walk by, this place looks like an ordinary bar.
Who cares, she's probably just a bartender or something.
As Lin Zhenzhen was thinking this, she saw someone waving at her from not far away.
Just as she was about to go over, someone grabbed her shoulder.
"Is this something new at the bar? I've never seen it before!"
Lin Zhenzhen turned around and saw a pair of bright red lips slightly parted.
The woman let out a sweet laugh: "Little brother, I like you so much. Will you come with me tonight?"
Lin Zhenzhen narrowed her eyes slightly, her movements clean and efficient.
She grabbed the woman's wrist with her right hand, and with a skillful twist, successfully broke free from her grasp.
A burst of laughter erupted from those around her: "What are you going to do, Medusa? He doesn't want to go with you. It seems your charm isn't enough."
"How should we vent our anger this time? How about we cut out his tongue and eat it with our drinks, like we did last time?"
"Shut up!" The woman immediately changed her expression, her face darkening as she placed her hand on the curved sword behind her back.
Seeing the woman suddenly exude murderous intent, Lin Zhenzhen quickly changed her tune, "It's not that I'm unwilling, it's just that I have to work tonight."
Upon hearing this, the woman immediately regained her gentle and charming expression.
She tapped Lin Zhenzhen's forehead and said coquettishly, "Isn't accompanying me your job? Don't worry, I'll be very gentle."
Lin Zhenzhen couldn't afford to clash with her in front of so many people, so she could only let her lead her to a private room with excellent privacy.
"Hello everyone, look what I found." Medusa pushed her into the room. "Ta-da! That's right, there's a poor little puppy hiding in the underground bar."
Silence fell over the private room.
A few seconds later, the bald man spat out the cigarette smoke and cursed, "Have you been fooled by too many men and your brain has gone waterlogged? Are we here to have fun?"
Medusa, her sore spot touched, widened her eyes in shock and anger: "Who are you saying was deceived by a man?"
"I'm telling you, you idiot!"
"Alright, alright, calm down." Another man in white stood up and acted as a peacemaker.
"That person should be arriving soon. If an outsider sees us making such a racket, they'll think we're unprofessional."
Medusa withdrew her hand: "Damn it, are you coming or not? I hate men who are late the most."
As soon as she finished speaking, Lin Zhenzhen heard the sound of the door lock turning.
Lin Zhenzhen looked up and saw a pair of slender hands gently lifting the curtain.
A man wearing a gray-white tracksuit walked in with his head down.
After seeing his face clearly, the bald man paused for a few seconds, then said, "You're the one ranked number one on the mercenary list?"
“Blind man,” Medusa replied. “Wow, so ‘blind man’ isn’t just a nickname. You really are blind!”
The man smiled and reached out to touch the black cloth strip tied to his face.
