Gu Bosheng, who had been staring intently at her, suddenly let out a smile.
Lin Zhenzhen was a little annoyed: "What are you laughing at? I'm very serious."
"I know." Gu Bosheng raised his hand to brush away the stray hairs from her cheek. "I just think you're very cute."
"cute?"
Lin Zhenzhen didn't understand, she really didn't understand.
Why could Gu Bosheng still say those words with such a sincere expression?
Wasn't the raging anger burning in her eyes just now obvious enough?
And the topic they're discussing isn't exactly lighthearted or pleasant.
"Yes, you're always thinking of me, and you look cute when you're being fierce." Gu Bosheng leaned closer. "I like it."
His breath brushed against Lin Zhenzhen's face, carrying a scorching heat.
This was the first time Gu Bosheng had said such ambiguous things to her while he was in a conscious state.
"I really don't understand you." Lin Zhenzhen turned her head away.
She knew in her heart that the person in front of her, though seemingly gentle and kind, was actually an impenetrable fortress, impervious to swords and spears.
No one can change his mind.
Lin Zhenzhen didn't want to continue this meaningless confrontation with him, so she simply remained silent.
Gu Bosheng fell silent, and the two of them leaned against each other, quietly gazing into the distance.
The sky gradually darkened.
A small team rode motorcycles down a distant hillside.
“They’re back.” Gu Bosheng stood up, his toes firmly planted on the slender branches.
He looked up at the sky and said in a deep voice, "The time is almost up."
Cutting open the chest and removing the heart is considered a major surgery, even in a post-apocalyptic setting.
But Gu Zhongsheng didn't seem nervous at all.
He moved Zakir to the treehouse atop the giant sequoia ahead of time.
This place clearly has absolutely nothing to do with the operating room.
Even the light source was a mutated glowing mushroom that was temporarily captured.
The little mushroom was hanging from the ceiling by a wire, and it was wriggling restlessly.
The already unstable silver light flickered even more frequently with its movements.
Looking at Lin Zhenzhen, I felt terrified.
If he doesn't see clearly and his hand shakes, causing the knife to veer off course, Gu Zhongsheng will be done for.
Zakir looked at Gu Zhongsheng in front of him, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back.
It's obvious that they want to say something, but are worried about being criticized.
"Take it."
Gu Zhongsheng simply and bluntly threw the glasses he had just received into his arms.
Is this what you wanted?
Zaker looked at him, then opened the box.
Lin Zhenzhen noticed that his hands seemed to be trembling slightly.
Moreover, his expression changed visibly for a moment after he saw the thick-rimmed round glasses inside.
Lin Zhenzhen frowned suspiciously: "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, just this. This is what I want."
He even started stuttering.
There's definitely a problem.
Without saying a word, Lin Zhenzhen snatched the glasses from his hand.
But after looking at it for a long time, she still couldn't see anything unusual.
Lin Zhenzhen raised her head, her eyes fixed on Zakir's face: "Why are you so nervous?"
He swallowed hard, somewhat resentfully saying, "If you were in my position, you'd be nervous too."
"That's good."
Perhaps because the moonlit night was approaching, Gu Zhongsheng's voice became increasingly hoarse and low.
"There's some messy stuff here."
Gu Zhongsheng opened a white medical kit, inside which were roughly placed scalpels and disinfectant supplies.
He looked at Lin Zhenzhen, the golden light hidden in his pupils dazzling and magnificent: "Can you use a gun?"
"meeting."
Hearing her unwavering answer, Gu Zhongsheng chuckled.
Then he took the pistol strapped to his waist and threw it into Lin Zhenzhen's arms.
"Take this. If he tries anything funny later, just blow his head off."
"Oh." Lin Zhenzhen picked up the gun expressionlessly and pulled the safety.
She squinted, raised her right hand, and aimed it at Zakir's forehead.
"Tsk." Lin Zhenzhen frowned and put the pistol down. "You must be very nervous seeing me like this, right?"
Just as Zakir was about to speak, he heard Lin Zhenzhen's lazy voice.
"Never mind, being a little nervous will help you concentrate."
Zakir almost spat out a mouthful of blood.
He gritted his teeth and glared fiercely at Lin Zhenzhen.
"A lowly freak!"
Gu Zhongsheng's expression changed: "You're courting death."
Lin Zhenzhen quickly pulled him back: "Hey, hey, don't do it, don't do it! Who will perform surgery on you if you cripple him?"
“Dr. Zack,” Lin Zhenzhen smiled dismissively. “A noble superhuman, is that it?”
"If you're really that smart, you should know that your life is in my hands. Shouldn't you be more careful with your words?"
Zakir kept his head down, muttering something under his breath.
Lin Zhenzhen didn't care. At most, it was just some cursing, it wouldn't hurt her.
She turned to look at Gu Zhongsheng: "When will the surgery begin?"
"Wait until 8:15, when the moon is fully out."
Gu Zhongsheng looked out the window, then said to Gu Bosheng, "You should go."
Gu Bosheng paused for a moment, then turned and walked towards the door.
Lin Zhenzhen asked, puzzled, "Why can't the general stay here?"
Upon hearing this question, Gu Zhongsheng scoffed.
"If you want to see him lose control and become unrecognizable to his family, I have no objection."
