Chapter 208 Apocalyptic Boss vs. Fox Human-Human Mutant 43

After two cycles of day and night, the giant sequoia stopped moving forward.

Lin Zhenzhen immediately opened her eyes.

Ahead stood a gray city gate.

The sign above reads "Northern Theater Command" in large black characters, but due to the accumulation of frost and neglect, it almost blends into the surrounding snow-covered landscape.

"We've arrived." Lin Zhenzhen gently touched the little green sprout. "Thank you for escorting us all the way."

The giant sequoia shook its roots, like a black tide slowly receding.

They did not burrow back into the soil as they had when they came.

Instead, it fell directly to the ground, as if it had lost its vitality, and slowly turned into withered branches.

Lin Zhenzhen looked away.

Their car's engine froze due to the low temperature and could no longer be used.

Lin Zhenzhen jumped out of the car, opened the trunk, and took out the weapons one by one.

Gu Zhongsheng bent down and picked up the heavy machine gun that was lying on the ground.

"Rest now." Lin Zhenzhen pushed him away. "Your wound hasn't healed yet. This time, watch how your sister protects you."

Gu Zhongsheng frowned: "What did you say? Who's the older sister?"

Lin Zhenzhen changed her tune and said, "Okay, okay, brother, you're my older brother."

She stared at the slowly recovering health bar above Gu Zhongsheng's head; so much time had passed, and it was still only 65 points.

"As long as you don't move around too much and affect the healing of your wound, I'll call you grandpa without any problem."

Lin Zhenzhen stubbornly used her thin, bamboo-like arms to carry the heaviest items.

She tossed the small pistol she had been holding into Gu Zhongsheng's hand.

"Just hold this for me."

Gu Zhongsheng looked down at the "miniature toy" in his hand, then looked up at Lin Zhenzhen's stumbling, frail figure.

After a brief silence, he lowered his eyes, and the corners of his mouth involuntarily turned up.

Lin Zhenzhen stopped in her tracks: "This is too desolate."

The city gates were wide open, with not a single protective measure in sight, a stark contrast to their previous visits to the Eastern Theater Command.

The two entered the Northern Theater Command without any hindrance.

Unfortunately, this peace was short-lived.

“There’s something.” Gu Zhongsheng turned to the side. “It’s very big.”

Lin Zhenzhen looked in the direction of his voice and just saw two large, red light bulbs swaying when she was suddenly pushed down into the snow by a force coming from the left.

A giant handprint suddenly appeared on the ground where she had just been standing.

Gu Zhongsheng rolled twice, knelt on one knee, picked up the machine gun that had fallen to the ground, aimed it at the mutated polar bear not far away, and pulled the trigger.

His movements were quick, his shooting was steady, and his posture was very cool.

Then... the blood he vomited was very green.

Lin Zhenzhen screamed in surprise!

"Heavens, blood... why is your blood green?"

Gu Zhongsheng turned to look at her, his eyes saying: What kind of question is this?

"I am a zombie, and my human heart has been removed."

Lin Zhenzhen looked at the health bar above his head with a worried expression, which had dropped back to 61.

The numbers, which were originally red, turned green and were wobbling as if they were about to fall.

Lin Zhenzhen leaped forward and pounced back to Gu Zhongsheng's side.

Regardless of whether his healing abilities would work on the zombie, he kept channeling them into its body.

Gu Zhongsheng held her hand down.

"fine."

"How could nothing be wrong?"

He wished he could pick up the blood droplet that had fallen to the ground and stuff it into Gu Zhongsheng's mouth to make up for the health bar he had worked so hard to raise.

"Why is it still bleeding? It breaks my heart."

"I'm really fine." Gu Zhongsheng's ears turned a little red.

He looked at the mutated polar bear carcass lying on the ground and whispered, "It's not safe here. Let's find somewhere to hide."

"Okay." Lin Zhenzhen helped him stand up.

But before they had taken two steps, they heard the sound of heavy footsteps on the snow behind them.

Both of them froze at the same time.

Lin Zhenzhen tilted her head slightly, and after a moment, she chuckled dryly twice.

"It seems the polar bear mother has come looking for us."

Gu Zhongsheng's face was ashen, and his hands were tightly wrapped around Lin Zhenzhen's waist.

"Run behind me later."

"No, you're so badly injured, we should run together."

"Stop talking nonsense." Gu Zhongsheng squeezed out these words from his throat.

He shoved Lin Zhenzhen aside, picked up the gun in his hand, and turned around abruptly.

Unexpectedly, this mutated polar bear was of such a high level that even the highly lethal modified bullets could not penetrate its fur.

The series of shots completely enraged the mutated polar bear, which roared and charged towards the two men.

At this critical moment, a figure as swift as lightning descended from the sky.

A lone, pure white wolf leaped down from a high place and pounced on the mutated polar bear.

The sharp fangs in its mouth resembled two barbed scythes, piercing deeply into the polar bear's throat.

Not a moment wasted, a single, decisive strike—it was almost a perfect hunt.

The sound of bullets being chambered could be heard silently nearby.

Lin Zhenzhen turned her head and saw that Gu Zhongsheng had already raised his gun.

It was as if the lone wolf had eyes in the back of its head, accurately sensing his movements.

It released its grip and threw the already lifeless polar bear to the ground.

"Zombies?" The voice that came out was that of an adult man.

Lin Zhenzhen stared wide-eyed in surprise: "So you're not a mutated animal, but a different species!"

The lone wolf turned its head, its clear blue eyes fixed firmly on her.

"May I have your name?"

"Huh?" Lin Zhenzhen was stunned for a moment, then realized that he probably didn't mean any harm, he just wanted to confirm their identities.

“My name is Lingzhen, and his name is Sheng.”

Logically, animals have weaker facial nerves and should not be able to make facial expressions.

However, Lin Zhenzhen was certain that she had just seen a wolf frown.

Gu Zhongsheng said coldly, "If you ask someone else's name, shouldn't you also give your own name according to etiquette?"

Lone Wolf paused for a moment: "Qi Tiancheng."

"Also, once you're here, don't try to teach me any human etiquette."
