"What did you say?"
The sound came from both Lin Zhenzhen and Gu Zhongsheng at the same time.
"Impossible," Lin Zhenzhen said firmly.
If something had really happened to Gu Bosheng, her mission would have been declared a failure long ago.
Gu Zhongsheng's expression was fierce as he gritted his teeth and said, "If you dare to talk nonsense again, I'll be very lenient."
"Believe it or not, it's up to you." Qi Tiancheng didn't seem angry and turned to leave.
Lin Zhenzhen instinctively felt that there was a reason why he said such a thing, so she quickly grabbed him.
Why do you say that?
Qi Tiancheng glanced at her, then pointed out the window.
Lin Zhenzhen looked in the direction of his hand and saw only a sky full of white snowflakes.
“He was sent there; I saw it with my own eyes.”
Where is that place?
Qi Tiancheng said expressionlessly, "Underground Laboratory No. 29."
-------------------------------------
"Underground Laboratory No. 29 was a secret laboratory established ten years ago, spearheaded by headquarters and with the joint participation of various war zones, specifically for gene research."
The original book only had this brief sentence about this place.
Lin Zhenzhen didn't know the specifics of what was going on inside, but from Qi Tiancheng's description, she could sense the danger involved.
When they parted, Gu Bosheng clearly stated that there was no one to replace him in the war zone, and that everything would be alright.
Lin Zhenzhen clenched her fists, her nails digging painfully into her palms: "I have to go save him."
She stood up, but Gu Zhongsheng pressed her down beside her.
"Didn't you say we shouldn't act impulsively?"
The light in his eyes flickered: "Why do I lose my mind whenever it comes to his affairs?"
Lin Zhenzhen frowned and shook her head: "I wasn't impulsive."
"Sheng, do you know more about the underground laboratory on the 29th?"
Gu Zhongsheng lowered his eyes: "I heard about it when I was at the base. But at that time it was only in the planning stage and had not yet been put into use."
"All I know is that the level of secrecy is very high, and the headquarters security is responsible for everything from site selection to planning."
"It's probably just a place that creates monsters, nothing special."
"What could this place possibly have to do with the general?" Lin Zhenzhen felt uneasy.
Gu Bosheng is clearly the most perfect product of gene experimentation to date, so why send him back to such a place?
Lin Zhenzhen suddenly remembered that when Zakir held Gu Zhongsheng's half heart, he seemed to be muttering, "It's a success, it's finally a success."
Could there be some new conspiracy at play?
"Oh no." Lin Zhenzhen remembered that the first-aid kit containing the heart was still in the car.
Gu Zhongsheng turned his head to look at her and asked, "What's wrong?"
Lin Zhenzhen said in a low voice, "I forgot to take something from the car."
"What is it? Is it important?"
Lin Zhenzhen frowned and mouthed in response, "Your heart."
She looked out the window through Gu Zhongsheng's shoulder.
The heavy snowfall had completely covered the road they had come from, making it difficult to discern their direction.
In such an environment, it would be too dangerous to go out rashly.
"Never mind, we'll talk about it later."
Lin Zhenzhen thought for a moment, then ladled all the broth out of the pot and distributed it to the others.
Finally, she came to Qi Tiancheng's side.
"Brother Qi, have some." Lin Zhenzhen deliberately put the last few large bones in his bowl, her intention to please him was very strong.
Qi Tiancheng was still playing with the wolf cubs when he looked up at the soup bowl in front of him and raised an eyebrow.
Lin Zhenzhen said sincerely, "Thank you for saving us."
Qi Tiancheng said expressionlessly, "I'll use the meat I hunted to express my gratitude."
Three vertical lines slid down Lin Zhenzhen's forehead.
She chuckled awkwardly and said, "I don't know why, but you seem so familiar!"
Qi Tiancheng didn't reply. He took the bowl and placed it on the ground, quietly watching the wolf cubs in front of him wolf down their food, as if he didn't care about her.
Lin Zhenzhen took a deep breath and said, "I want to go into Lab 29 to rescue someone. Can you help me?"
Qi Tiancheng raised his head, a hint of surprise in his pale pupils.
“Of course, you can ask for payment.” Lin Zhenzhen paused. “You’ll need to support so many people; besides food, you’ll also need a lot of weapons, right?”
Qi Tiancheng looked at her, as if he was thinking seriously.
After a moment, he said, "100,000 crystal cores. I'm only responsible for getting you in. Whether you succeed or not is none of my business."
"Okay!" Lin Zhenzhen readily agreed.
She had no idea how much 100,000 crystal cores was, so she decided to agree first.
Qi Tiancheng held out his hand: "Deposit."
"ah?"
Qi Tiancheng stared at her: "I don't do business without a deposit."
"Yes! Wait a minute." Lin Zhenzhen ran back to Gu Zhongsheng's side. "Do you have money?"
Gu Zhongsheng also overheard part of their conversation. Although he was somewhat annoyed that Lin Zhenzhen had asked another man for help, he knew that this was the best solution at the moment.
His golden pupils narrowed slightly: "My bank account number in the Eastern Theater Command is... and the password is..."
"Stop, stop, stop! I need cash." Lin Zhenzhen made a rubbing motion with her hands like a fly. "Deposit."
"No."
He rarely needs the money; the account is only used to receive commissions for completing tasks, and he has never withdrawn any of it.
Seeing Lin Zhenzhen's worried face, Gu Zhongsheng immediately said, "My body has almost recovered, I can go hunting and extract the crystal cores of mutated animals."
"No, no, no." Lin Zhenzhen glanced at the health bar above his head, 70. It's better not to be reckless.
After much thought, she could only come up with one solution.
Lin Zhenzhen gritted her teeth, made a tough decision, and took something out of her pocket and handed it to Qi Tiancheng: "Here, is this enough to offset your deposit?"
These are chocolates that Gu Bosheng gave her before. They are worth a fortune and more than enough to pawn.
As expected, Qi Tiancheng didn't say anything and accepted the gifts.
"There is one more rule."
"If you die, you'll need another thousand crystal cores."
"Why should I!" Lin Zhenzhen shouted.
Not only did they curse their own employer, but they also raised prices on the spot. How can you do business like that?
Qi Tiancheng stood up, the light brown scar under his eyes looking particularly terrifying.
"Your life is mine."
