Chapter 271 The Unattainable Beauty: Pure-Hearted CEO VS The Scheming, Weak, and Dramatic Green Tea Girl (Part 3)

Hospital.

“You had a pacemaker implanted three months ago, and everything seems to be working perfectly. Logically, your Adams-Stokes syndrome shouldn’t be acting up again.”

Qin Chuan rested his chin on his hand, his gaze slowly moving from the computer screen to Lin Zhenzhen.

When someone suffers a sudden cardiac syncope, who could they possibly fall on? Why did it have to be Huo Yeshuo of all people?

The odds are probably even lower than winning the lottery. Only a fool would believe it wasn't intentional.

"Huh?" Lin Zhenzhen blinked. "You're asking me?"

Qin Chuan grinned, revealing a set of bright white teeth, and smiled without saying a word.

Lin Zhenzhen lowered her head and muttered softly, "Why are doctors now asking patients about their professional knowledge?"

Qin Chuan's smile instantly froze on his lips.

"...No, I just wanted to ask you about it, because this situation is indeed quite rare."

"But I really don't know why." Lin Zhenzhen pouted.

However, as if she had just thought of something, she suddenly opened her eyes wide, her full, dark pupils staring straight at Qin Chuan.

"Could it be that they cut corners when I had the surgery abroad?!"

Qin Chuan's lips twitched: "...That's unlikely."

"That must be it!" Lin Zhenzhen stood up abruptly. "No, I have to go back and find them."

"Hey, Miss Ling, wait a minute." Qin Chuan quickly stepped forward to stop her. "The reasons behind this are complicated, not as simple as you think. Calm down and don't act impulsively!"

"I can't calm down!" Lin Zhenzhen pried his hand away and tried to squeeze through the door.

Although it was just a fleeting glimpse of his back outside the glass door, she was certain that it was Huo Yeshuo.

She hadn't expected that this doctor, who looked so thin, would have such strong hands. Lin Zhenzhen tried several times but couldn't pry his hands open, so she changed tactics and bent down to crawl under his armpits.

"Miss Aya!"

"Mr. Huo!"

Two voices rang out simultaneously.

Huo Yeshuo stopped and looked at the other side of the corridor.

The woman's complexion had improved a lot, although Huo Yeshuo still thought her skin tone was somewhat unhealthy.

But at least there was a trace of color in his lips, and his whole face changed from deathly pale to pale.

Lin Zhenzhen approached with small steps: "Mr. Huo, thank you so much just now."

Huo Yeshuo nodded indifferently, holding a bunch of withered flowers, looking as if he had just come out of a hospital room.

"You're welcome. Are you feeling better now?"

“I’m much better now.” Lin Zhenzhen lowered her head, her tone hesitant. “But Dr. Qin said that there are still some unexplained lesions on my body that haven’t been completely eradicated, and I need to stay in the hospital for further observation.”

Huo Yeshuo showed no extra expression: "Then follow the doctor's advice, get plenty of rest, and take care of yourself." With that, he turned to leave.

"Wait a minute." Lin Zhenzhen used the same trick again, grabbing his arm once more. "Mr. Huo, I haven't paid you for the medical expenses yet."

Huo Yeshuo's brow twitched suddenly: "Let go."

"Huh?" Lin Zhenzhen seemed not to have reacted. Not only did she not loosen her grip at all, but she also tiptoed closer to him, her expression puzzled. "What murderer did you say?"

Then she saw Huo Yeshuo's expression suddenly turn cold.

Perhaps because his maternal grandmother was of mixed race, Huo Yeshuo's pupils were not the dark brown most common among Asians, but a color between turquoise and ink.

This shade of green is quite dark; it doesn't usually look particularly special.

But now, the incandescent lights in the hospital corridor shone on Huo Yeshuo's head, and the bright light brought out the green glint in his pupils.

Thick, long eyelashes cast a heavy shadow on his cheeks, like the feathers of some kind of bird.

The very center of the eye is a green gemstone carefully guarded by layers upon layers of feathers—expensive, pure, and not to be defiled.

A series of thoughts and adjectives flashed through Lin Zhenzhen's mind.

Finally, she suddenly remembered a sentence from Baidu Encyclopedia: When it comes to true aristocrats today, I can't think of anyone other than Huo Yeshuo.

"Miss Ling, are you Chinese?" Huo Yeshuo's expression was slightly ferocious.

Lin Zhenzhen was a little confused, but she nodded: "Yes."

Huo Yeshuo took a deep breath: "Maybe I spoke too fast. Let me slow down and say it again."

Lin Zhenzhen tilted her head and saw his thin lips slightly parted.

He uttered two extremely cold words: "Let go."

"Ah, oh!" Lin Zhenzhen belatedly realized what was happening and suddenly let go of his hand, taking a step back to create distance between them.

Huo Yeshuo stiffly and carefully straightened his collar, but he completely ignored the wrinkles in his clothes on his arms.

Lin Zhenzhen reasonably suspected that it was because he didn't want to touch that area at all.

[Host, have confidence. There's no doubt that this poor little suit will end up in the trash tonight.]

Lin Zhenzhen lowered her head, her voice soft, looking aggrieved and self-reproachful: "I'm sorry, I always seem to be causing you trouble."

She calculated the angle perfectly and carefully adjusted her expression.

Any normal man would feel a protective instinct triggered by her red nose and slightly trembling shoulders, and would wave his hand dismissively: "No way! You're not bothering me at all!"

However.

“That’s true.” Huo Yeshuo nodded, adding, “I should be in the company’s conference room right now.”

The implication is that you're really annoying.

Lin Zhenzhen wrinkled her nose, looking like she was about to cry.

She reached out and rubbed her eyelids haphazardly: "I never expected my phone to be snatched and smashed to pieces. I don't even have money for a taxi, so I can only stand at the hotel lobby entrance and wait for someone to pick me up."

"I thought that after suffering so much and having this surgery, I could live a healthy life like a normal person. I never expected that I would still fall ill anytime and anywhere, experiencing breathing difficulties and fainting."

“I don’t have many friends to begin with, and during these years of treatment abroad, I’ve lost contact with many people. Otherwise, I definitely wouldn’t be so shameless as to ask Mr. Huo to pay my medical expenses in advance.”

Lin Zhenzhen raised her eyes and looked up at Huo Yeshuo. His large, round black pupils shone, revealing a pitiful and cautious look.

“I’m really sorry for dragging you into my terrible life.”
