Luo Meng seemed to sense something. She turned around and saw Huo Yeshuo not far away.
He stood at the elevator entrance, his gaze fixed on the wristwatch on his left wrist, his expression unchanged, seemingly unaware of the two people.
Luo Meng had a bad feeling, but she still tried to remain calm and said, "President Huo."
Huo Yeshuo raised his head and gave her a light, indifferent glance.
The elevator doors opened at that moment, and Huo Yeshuo raised his hand and pressed the down button: "You should go back to work."
Although the sentence lacks a subject, given the current context, it is quite clear who is being asked to leave.
Luo Meng's expression instantly became quite interesting. She forced a smile that was more like a grimace and respectfully replied, "Okay."
The door closed slowly. Huo Yeshuo did not move immediately. He put his hands in his pockets and quietly watched the reflection on the translucent bronze surface.
The girl's body was tense, her head was lowered, and her eyelids trembled rapidly and gently, like a pitiful butterfly that had been frightened, as if she was about to shed tears at any moment.
Huo Yeshuo said stiffly, "Stop crying."
Lin Zhenzhen raised her eyes, her clear black and white eyes were wet, like some kind of newborn animal cub, soft and clean like the clouds in the sky.
Lin Zhenzhen replied sullenly, "I didn't cry."
She must have just been crying, otherwise why would her eyes be so bright?
The idea came somewhat out of nowhere. Huo Yeshuo coughed awkwardly, "What do you want from me?"
Lin Zhenzhen seemed to be stunned for a moment, but did not reply immediately.
Huo Yeshuo immediately thought of another possibility, his gaze darkening: "Not looking for me, but for Assistant Zhang?"
“No.” Lin Zhenzhen shook her head. “I came here specifically to see you, Mr. Huo.”
Huo Yeshuo's expression softened slightly, and he nodded slightly: "Come to my office."
As previously predicted, Huo Yeshuo's office decoration style is highly consistent with the entire 56th floor.
The background wall features a black, white, and gray color scheme, interspersed with highly stylized abstract lines. There's a huge desk and a chair that looks incredibly comfortable.
The office even has a small meeting room, presumably used for simple working discussions with senior management. Behind the bookshelves is an inconspicuous little door, likely leading to a lounge or similar room.
When that door, made of a special material, closed, it completely separated the two spaces, one inside and one outside.
Huo Yeshuo poured Lin Zhenzhen a glass of warm water. He gently rubbed his palm and the glass together against the skin of Lin Zhenzhen's arm. The warm and soft touch sent a strange shiver down his spine.
Lin Zhenzhen reacted strongly, trembling and slowly lowering her head even further, a posture that fully revealed her bright red earlobes.
Just like her little thoughts right now, she tries hard to hide them, but it only makes them more obvious.
Huo Yeshuo leaned against the edge of the table, his long legs, encased in straight-leg trousers, casually crossed. Seeing her like this, he felt a strange itch in his heart and, unusually, had the urge to tease her.
Is it hot in the office?
"Huh?" Lin Zhenzhen's eyes widened. "It's not hot."
Huo Yeshuo stared at her: "Your face is very red."
Lin Zhenzhen raised her hand to touch her cheek and stammered, "Okay, it does seem a bit hot."
Huo Yeshuo's lips curled up slightly, a fleeting smile passing through his eyes, as he stood up to adjust the temperature.
During this brief lull, the system in my brain suddenly started howling and screaming.
[Holy crap, host, it's broad daylight, the sky is clear, it's only 10 a.m., and you're already having these kinds of inappropriate scenes playing in your head?]
"What's wrong with me?" Lin Zhenzhen asked quite confidently.
[I was simply triggered by the layout of this office, which reminded me of classic passages from some online CEO romance novels I had read before.]
[I couldn't resist converting some of the text descriptions into images. Is there anything wrong with that?]
The system, its neck stiff with frustration, jumped up and down: [Damn it! Where is your sense of propriety and shame? Where is your moral bottom line? And where is that link to the online novel you mentioned?]
[...]
Hey! You shameless little system.
Huo Yeshuo turned up the temperature by two degrees, turned around, and saw Lin Zhenzhen still in the same position as before. She was holding a water glass in both hands, staring blankly at the ground.
"Are you afraid of me?" Huo Yeshuo sat down on the sofa opposite him, his posture casual yet exuding an air of nobility.
Lin Zhenzhen raised her head, her expression seemingly somewhat confused: "I'm not afraid."
"Really?" Huo Yeshuo was fairly satisfied with her answer. "I also feel that I shouldn't be that scary."
Lin Zhenzhen pursed her lips, looking embarrassed and unsure how to respond.
Huo Yeshuo became a little unhappy again, and the corners of his mouth drooped down a bit: "What do you want from me?"
"Oh!" Lin Zhenzhen put down her water glass and took out an envelope from her pocket. "By the way, Mr. Huo, this is for you."
Huo Yeshuo paused for two seconds, then reached out and took the item.
The envelope was mostly empty, with only a small, hard shell at the bottom.
Huo Yeshuo realized that what was inside wasn't what he had been expecting, and his smile drooped even more.
Huo Yeshuo coldly slammed the envelope onto the table, the sharp corner of the bank card striking the glass surface with a crisp sound.
What do you mean by that?
Lin Zhenzhen looked at him and said, "You saved me twice, and you even paid for my hospital expenses in advance."
Seemingly noticing his displeasure, Lin Zhenzhen cautiously added, "I asked Dr. Qin, and the money in this card should be enough."
"So, you came all this way just to pay me back?"
"Mmm." Lin Zhenzhen nodded quickly.
Hearing her unwavering answer, Huo Yeshuo felt a sudden surge of annoyance.
He raised his hand and unbuttoned the top button of his suit shirt, revealing the sexy curve of his full Adam's apple.
"It seems you have some misunderstanding about me."
Lin Zhenzhen frowned, lowered her eyelids, and silently shifted her body back a few inches, seemingly resisting.
Huo Yeshuo took a deep breath, suppressing those strange negative emotions, and spoke as calmly as possible.
“I’m very busy. The time cost of sitting down to listen to you today is far beyond your imagination.”
He leaned forward slightly, exuding a chilling and heavy aura of pressure: "Do you understand what I'm saying?"
