Lin Zhenzhen hesitated for only half a second before quickly stepping forward and affectionately half-hugging his arm.
"Mr. Huo, what a coincidence to run into you here."
Huo Yeshuo's gaze lingered on her face for a moment before quickly moving downwards, finally settling on her knees.
Lin Zhenzhen followed his gaze and noticed that the gauze he had used to bandage her had come undone at one corner, hanging loosely and revealing the slightly bluish skin underneath.
"I must have accidentally scraped myself when I fell."
Huo Yeshuo nodded gently: "Now that we're at the hospital, let's have a doctor treat you."
"Huh?" Lin Zhenzhen pouted, her expression clearly showing some reluctance.
Huo Yeshuo raised his eyes, his handsome pupils gleaming with a faint green light, as if asking a question.
"Didn't you say you'd come to me if I needed help?" Lin Zhenzhen twisted her fingers and said in a low voice, somewhat resentfully, "It's only been less than 24 hours, and you've already gone back on your word."
Huo Yeshuo's lips curved into a smile, a hint of amusement appearing in his eyes: "I haven't changed my mind. It's just that you need to be re-bandaged now."
"No need, look." Lin Zhenzhen bent down, aimed at the spot where the gauze was, and slapped it on cleanly. "Look, it's stuck on perfectly."
Huo Yeshuo frowned, looking at her with a hint of helplessness: "Doesn't it hurt?"
"It seems a little." Lin Zhenzhen scratched her nose, her eyes belatedly reddening. "But it's okay, I can bear this pain."
As Lin Zhenzhen spoke, her eyes kept glancing at the bouquet of irises in his hand. Although she didn't ask any questions, her curiosity was clearly overflowing.
If it were anyone else in the past, Huo Yeshuo would have found such probing and guessing boring and would have turned and left without hesitation.
But when the object of his affections changed to her, he found her feigned indifference so endearing, and his heart felt as if it had been scratched by some soft claw.
The explanation that came out of his mouth was: "I came to the hospital to visit a patient."
"Oh," Lin Zhenzhen responded softly, her eyes slowly curving into crescent moons.
"You said last night that you had something to do today, did you mean you were coming to the hospital?"
"Hmm." Huo Yeshuo raised his hand and glanced at the time. "I'll probably need another forty minutes, if you don't have any plans later."
“No plans,” Lin Zhenzhen replied quickly, smiling like a smug little fox. “Then I’ll wait for you here.”
Huo Yeshuo was indeed a person with extremely meticulous time management. The forty minutes he mentioned were exactly forty minutes, not a minute more or less.
Lin Zhenzhen was playing a mahjong mobile game in the rest area. She was having good luck today, winning several hands by self-draw and even getting two pure suits. Before long, she won back all the beans she had lost.
Huo Yeshuo saw the barely concealed sparkle in her eyes and couldn't help but smile as well: "What happened? Why are you so happy?"
"A lot of good things have happened." Lin Zhenzhen turned her head to look at him. "My horoscope didn't lie to me. Today is my lucky day."
"Really?" Although Huo Yeshuo grew up abroad, he was a staunch atheist and had never been interested in astrology or horoscopes.
But he still followed up with Lin Zhenzhen's question: "What's your zodiac sign?"
“I’m a Gemini,” Lin Zhenzhen blurted out.
"So sometimes my personality can be a bit split. Also, my intuition is very accurate, so don't try to lie to me, I'll see through it, hehe."
Huo Yeshuo smiled slightly, and the two walked to a crape myrtle tree.
A gentle breeze blows, like a pair of invisible hands plucking the vibrant petals from the treetops and scattering them casually across the earth.
Lin Zhenzhen felt something brush against her shoulder.
Turning her head, she saw Huo Yeshuo's slender, strong fingers slightly bent as he gently picked up the petals that had slipped onto her clothes.
The two had gotten so close without anyone noticing, and even through their clothes, Lin Zhenzhen could almost feel the vibrant heat emanating from him.
It came on strong, even scorching.
"For example?"
Lin Zhenzhen blinked in a flustered manner, "Like what?"
Huo Yeshuo always seemed to be like this, pausing from time to time during conversations, and then resuming the conversation after a while.
She posed a question to herself, and it took her a while to come to a conclusion.
Huo Yeshuo seemed to sense her confusion and asked, "You said your intuition is very accurate, for example?"
Lin Zhenzhen rolled her eyes halfway, looking mischievous yet childlike: "For example, my intuition tells me you're a Virgo, with a cleanliness obsession, a lot of fuss, and a fussy nature."
Huo Yeshuo frowned: "That doesn't sound like anything nice."
"It seems that I made a wise move not to waste time on astrological analysis."
"You mean, all these analyses are lies?" Lin Zhenzhen's eyes widened as she shook off his hand from her shoulder.
Huo Yeshuo naturally placed his hand back on the table, his eyes always smiling as he spoke: "In short, it lacks some scientific evidence."
"But the horoscope says we're a perfect match!" Lin Zhenzhen pouted. "That's pseudoscience, right?"
Huo Yeshuo lowered his eyes and gently brushed his thumb across her shoulder: "Not entirely. Let's look at it rationally. Take the essence and discard the dross."
Lin Zhenzhen laughed in exasperation. "You've said everything you wanted to say, and you've got all the arguments to yourself."
She turned to the system and complained: "[He's not some aloof beauty at all, he's clearly a secretly passionate morning glory!]"
The system doesn't understand: "Why morning glories in particular?"
[Because his small mouth is like a trumpet, he can talk non-stop all day long.] The system was silent for two seconds, then burst into a deafening laugh.
Does Mr. Huo know that you think this way about him?
Lin Zhenzhen turned her head to look at Huo Yeshuo beside her. He was sitting in the driver's seat and had put on his thin silver-rimmed glasses again.
The bright sunlight outside the car window shone on half of him, while the other half covered the shadows of the sycamore leaves that filtered down from above, creating layers upon layers of treetop shadows.
Huo Yeshuo noticed Lin Zhenzhen looking up at the car roof and asked, "Is it hot with the sunroof open?"
He was about to press the button to pull up the starry sky ceiling that blocked out the sunlight.
"No," Lin Zhenzhen pressed his hand down, "Don't you think the sky is beautiful?"
"A clear blue sky with a few fluffy white clouds drifting by. Just looking at it makes you feel good."
Hearing her say this, Huo Yeshuo also raised his head.
