Below the highway is a long, steep slope.
Huo Yeshuo stood by the roadside and saw the general outline of the red sports car below.
After crashing through the guardrail, it continued for about fifty meters before finally crashing into a giant tree and coming to a stop.
The front of the car was dented, and both front doors were open, revealing the deployed airbags.
This was just a traffic accident caused by improper vehicle driving, and the person involved is now safe.
Huo Yeshuo's frantic heartbeat calmed down a little.
However, just as he was about to leave, something he caught a glimpse of out of the corner of his eye made him feel terrified.
Beside the grass, which had been trampled and mangled by tires, lay a white high-heeled shoe.
Stiletto heels, silver rhinestones, and red bloodstains on the shoelaces.
In an instant, blood flowed backward and body temperature plummeted.
It was like a torpedo suddenly being dropped on a calm surface of water, the explosion accompanied by a huge wave.
Huo Yeshuo's ears were ringing, his mind went blank, his knees buckled, and he almost knelt down.
After about ten seconds, he finally found his voice, looked at the bottomless mountain, and shouted "Aya!"
"I'm here."
The girl's voice sounded from behind.
Huo Yeshuo froze for half a second, then suddenly turned around, strode forward quickly, and hugged the person tightly in his arms.
He hugged her too tightly.
His heavy, frantic breathing, like that of a wild beast, followed the rise and fall of Huo Yeshuo's chest, spraying all over Lin Zhenzhen's ears.
She could even feel his heart pounding through his clothes and flesh.
"Aya, Aya, Aya..."
Huo Yeshuo kept repeating her name to himself, as if he was trying to confirm something.
Lin Zhenzhen was holding a high heel in her left hand and a tree branch in her right.
All she could do was wrap her arms around Huo Yeshuo's waist and clumsily pat his back with the back of her hand.
While patting him, she gently comforted him, "It's okay, it's okay, I'm right here."
Huo Yeshuo's breathing gradually became steady.
After calming down, he felt a chill and broke out in a sweat. A night breeze blew, and his mind and body became clear.
Huo Yeshuo pushed the person in his arms away, his expression even colder and harder than before.
"Are you out of common sense to walk alone on a mountain path at night, or do you simply not value your own life?"
The mountain roads are winding and have large blind spots, which already makes traffic accidents frequent, let alone at night when the lighting conditions are poor.
Lin Zhenzhen was taken aback by his fierce tone and answered blankly.
“I took a taxi, but the driver changed his mind halfway through the journey, saying it was too far and he was unwilling to come up and pick me up.”
"Can't get a taxi?" Huo Yeshuo's brows furrowed even deeper. "What about Lu Yangyun? Even if he's busy with his fiancée, couldn't he find someone to take you down the mountain?"
“Brother Yangyun doesn’t know I’m gone, so…” Lin Zhenzhen leaned forward, eagerly trying to take his hand.
"That's enough, I don't want to hear you mention him."
Huo Yeshuo's face remained pale, and he sternly interrupted her.
"Don't you understand? No matter how much you scheme, Lu Yangyun doesn't care about you at all. He just treats you as a pastime in his spare time."
He will not acknowledge you, much less marry you. Your dream will never come true.
Huo Yeshuo's tone could be described as harsh.
Lin Zhenzhen opened her eyes wide, as if glaring at him defiantly, but soon, tears welled up in her eyes, like a turbulent lake.
Huo Yeshuo also felt some regret, but more than that, he felt a constant sense of lingering fear and a crazy jealousy that he himself was unaware of.
He turned his face away, avoiding her eyes, and forced a cold expression.
"Don't always make that face. Crying won't solve anything. Your self-inflicted suffering is no longer working on me."
Huo Yeshuo returned to the car, opened the door, and saw Lin Zhenzhen still standing there, motionless.
"Not leaving?" His voice turned somber again.
Lin Zhenzhen lowered her head, her shoulders seemingly twitching slightly.
Huo Yeshuo let out a heavy sigh, then slammed the door shut, strode over to her, grabbed her hand, and pulled her toward the car.
Lin Zhenzhen struggled desperately, like a fish jumping around on a chopping board.
"Let me go!"
"Enough!" Huo Yeshuo grabbed her wrist. "Lingzhen, my time and patience are limited. I won't come to you twice."
"You can leave now."
Lin Zhenzhen tilted her head back, tears already soaking the corners of her eyes, but they never rolled down.
Her mouth was slightly open, and she was taking small breaths, as if trying to suppress the urge to swallow.
"It's none of your business."
