Chapter 374 The Final Chapter 23

Lin Zhenzhen understood immediately, turned her head, and asked with more confidence, "What exactly happened?"

Rex swallowed nervously: "Okay, give me your hand, I'll help you stand up first, and then I'll talk to you properly."

"No." Lin Zhenzhen refused coldly, hovering her finger over the red button. "Just say it like that."

"You!" Rex took a deep breath. "I advise you not to act impulsively, or you won't be able to bear the consequences."

Lin Zhenzhen sneered: "You seem to have misunderstood the situation. You're the one begging me now, so don't talk to me in such a threatening tone."

"..." Rex was so angry he wanted to curse, but since he didn't have the initiative, he could only suppress the fire in his heart.

Lin Zhenzhen repeated her question: "What exactly is going on?"

Rexton paused, choosing to omit the important parts, and said ambiguously, "This is an experiment."

"It's all over now. As long as you cooperate, we'll let you leave safely."

"Just an experiment?" Lin Zhenzhen's tone suddenly softened, her expression blank.

Rex thought he had successfully calmed the other person down, and quickly said, "That's right, it's just an experiment, and I can guarantee that your body will not be harmed in any way."

Lin Zhenzhen lowered her eyes: "Why did it end?"

Rex was taken aback, and before he could think of a reply, he heard her ask another question.

"Because... someone died during the experiment?"

Lin Zhenzhen's voice was like still water, without a ripple.

Rex, however, saw the glistening tears in the corners of her eyes, like shooting stars streaking across her cheeks.

His gaze fell on Lin Zhenzhen's back.

The sleeping man slowly opened his eyes, a glint of gold flashing in his dark pupils.

Rex immediately understood, raised his hands, and spoke in a gentle tone, as if he wanted to comfort the other party.

"The death in the experiment is somewhat different from what you understand."

"So, someone really did die, right?" Lin Zhenzhen opened her mouth, breathing with some difficulty. "Who was it? Lin Simiao, or Gong Yao?"

“Uh…” Rex’s expression was evasive.

How could he answer such a question? Dreams are based on real past experiences, and only the parties involved know the specific details; outsiders cannot peek into them.

Lin Zhenzhen noticed his hesitation: "Send me in again."

"Huh?" Rex's eyes widened. "You think this is child's play? Dream creation is a very complex experiment. It's not like you can just walk into it whenever you want!"

Lin Zhenzhen hardened her heart, her chest heaving violently, like a furious she-wolf: "Stop talking nonsense and send me back right now."

As she spoke, she raised her right hand, seemingly about to poke at the screen.

Rex immediately bristled and surrendered, his eyes fixed on Lin Zhenzhen's right hand.

"Hey, hey, don't get excited. I'm not just stating the obvious, can't you let me finish what I have to say?"

"Don't waste time, hurry up, or I'll..."

Lin Zhenzhen's voice stopped abruptly.

Looking at the woman collapsed on the ground, Rex finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He patted his chest and looked at the man opposite him, saying, "Yao, it's a good thing you woke up in time, otherwise I really wouldn't know what to do."

Gong Yao stepped forward slowly, and translucent blue water droplets dripped down his hair, making him look like a captivating sea siren, so handsome that he seemed unreal.

He lowered his head and stared silently at Lin Zhenzhen's face, lost in thought.

Rex, oblivious to the strange atmosphere, continued speaking to himself.

"Even if you don't wake up, I have to force you to wake up."

"Five minutes ago, the research department called you again, but I just made up an excuse to brush it off."

"But judging from his tone, he must have already become suspicious."

"So you should put things here aside for now and go handle it yourself."

"This time it was September 1, 2012. From 2013 to 2020, there are 7 more times."

Gong Yao's voice was somewhat cold.

“Well, that’s true. But even if 24 hours inside is only equivalent to 10 minutes outside, it still takes 70 minutes. We don’t have that much time to waste here.”

Gong Yao frowned: "What did you tell them?"

Rex scratched his head: "I told them you were taking a lunch break and to call back later."

Gong Yao said expressionlessly, "I never take a lunch break. I only rest for 25 minutes every 4 hours."

"Huh?" Rex covered his mouth in surprise. "No wonder the other person's tone was so strange."

Gong Yao glanced at the time: "They won't come looking for us for at least the next 25 minutes."

"What?"

Gong Yao bent down and picked up Lin Zhenzhen, tilting his head and saying in a deep voice, "2013 and 2014, come together."
