Chapter 385 The Final Chapter 34

Lin Zhenzhen quickly looked up and glanced at Gong Yao not far away.

He had his back to himself, and the setting sun cast its rays on his temples, but couldn't illuminate his features.

Lin Zhenzhen covered her phone and lowered her voice: "Sister Zhang, I still need to think about joining the crew."

The person on the other end chuckled, their tone indifferent: "No need to consider it, it's already decided. I'm just informing you."

Lin Zhenzhen frowned: "Even if it's an agent, they should ask me for my opinion before accepting a role."

"Personal will? Ha, Lin Zhenzhen, if a first or second-tier female celebrity said something like that to me, I could understand."

"You're just a newcomer who just filmed a low-budget web series. Don't think you're making a splash now. If you go cold for a few months without any exposure, who do you think will remember you?"

"If it weren't for Young Master Chen's appreciation, do you think you would have had the opportunity to receive this script?"

"Now that you're in this circle, put away your aloofness. This isn't school; nobody's going to tolerate your bad habits here."

Zhang Fang took a deep drag on her cigarette: "By the way, Young Master Chen might be coming to see you these next couple of days to teach you how to be more tactful. You know what to say and what to do, right?"

"I know." Lin Zhenzhen lowered her eyes, her gaze icy and devoid of any warmth. "It's simple."

"Alright, then I won't say any more. Make the most of this opportunity."

Lin Zhenzhen hung up the phone, opened a webpage on her phone, and entered her name in the search box.

There wasn't much information; only a handful of promotional videos for web series mentioned her name.

Gong Yao was busy preparing for the college entrance examination and then quickly entered a university campus with semi-military management. It's normal that he didn't pay attention to the entertainment industry and didn't know about these things.

This explains all the strange phenomena that had occurred before.

After a quick glance, Lin Zhenzhen turned off the screen and walked towards Gong Yao in the corner.

He sat under a large tree, his head half-lowered, silently gazing into the distance.

Why are you standing so far away?

Gong Yao turned his head.

His expression was calm, but his eyes were bright, like the first ray of light piercing through the dawn and shining straight into Lin Zhenzhen's heart.

Although he didn't know why she chose to keep it a secret, he had a secret from her anyway.

This realization made Lin Zhenzhen feel vaguely uneasy.

Gong Yao seemed to see through her thoughts. His eyes darkened for a moment, then he smiled casually and asked, "Have you finished talking?"

Lin Zhenzhen lowered her head: "Yes, I'm done."

Gong Yao pursed his lips and remained silent for two seconds before asking, "Can you tell me what happened?"

Lin Zhenzhen raised her head, but felt as if something was stuck in her throat.

Even she herself wasn't fully aware of the situation, let alone able to offer any explanation.

Lin Zhenzhen lowered her head: "Actually, it's nothing..."

Gong Yao lowered his eyes: "Hmm, it's okay. I won't force you to talk if you don't want to."

“No.” Lin Zhenzhen grabbed his hand. “I didn’t mean to hide anything from you.”

"But a lot of things happened in between, so I don't know where to begin."

Gong Yao frowned: "Is it very troublesome?"

“No…” Lin Zhenzhen changed her tune midway, “Okay, it is indeed a bit troublesome.”

"It's not that it can't be solved, it's just that I need some time to get everything sorted out."

Gong Yao stared into her eyes, paused for a good ten seconds, and then continued, "I understand."

Lin Zhenzhen curled her lips into a smile, her gaze passing over Gong Yao's shoulder to look at the distant sky: "Let's not talk about that for now, the scenery here is really beautiful."

The sky was a translucent azure blue, and the valley stretched out endlessly. From this angle, one could take in the entire cityscape.

Skyscrapers stand side by side, their glass facades refracting sunlight to create a faint rainbow in the air.

"The view from the top is even more beautiful, but you can't ride a bike on this path; you have to hike up." Gong Yao paused. "Would you like to go up and take a look?"

Lin Zhenzhen smiled and said, "Sure, it's a good opportunity to get some exercise."

Gong Yao looked at her and nodded: "Okay, there might be some tree branches sticking out from the road ahead, just follow behind me."

Lin Zhenzhen said she understood, then stepped forward and grabbed Gong Yao's arm just as he was about to turn around.

Gong Yao looked down at her and asked softly, "What's wrong?"

Are you a little angry?

Gong Yao's expression remained unchanged: "Why would I be angry?"

"Because I failed to be honest with you."

Gong Yao smiled and said, "I have never asked you to be completely honest with me."

"You can choose to confide in me or seek my help. Anytime, anywhere."

“But you never have to see this as a burden.” Gong Yao leaned down, his voice low. “I won’t get angry at you for this.”

Lin Zhenzhen tilted her head back, her grip tightening instead of loosening.

Her eyes were clear, and she asked earnestly, "If I accidentally slip later, will you protect me?"
