Lin Zhenzhen opened her eyes, her gaze slowly focusing from a blurry halo to a small dot.
The body reacts even before the brain is fully awake.
She propped herself up and shouted urgently towards the front.
"Gong Yao".
The man's body froze, and the swaying shadow gradually straightened, stretching into a straight line, like a sharp dagger carving a deep mark on the floor.
Gong Yao tilted his head slightly, his expression calm: "Is there something you need?"
Lin Zhenzhen's thoughts gradually returned.
She subtly surveyed her surroundings, realizing she had left the previous scene and returned to this familiar underground laboratory.
The side effect of frequent role switching is a strong sense of memory fragmentation.
It felt as if a hundred hammers had struck her brain, crushing and grinding all the images before piecing them together haphazardly.
Every time Lin Zhenzhen thought about it, she could feel the deepest nerve throbbing in her heart.
"nothing......"
Lin Zhenzhen closed her eyes wearily: "Why don't we continue?"
“This is enough.” Gong Yao glanced at her pale lips and said succinctly, “Rest first.”
“I don’t need to rest.” Lin Zhenzhen opened her eyes, raised her chin slightly, and looked eager. “I’ve done what you said. Can you send me back to September 1, 2014?”
Gong Yao turned around, his gaze fixed intently on her face: "Why?"
Lin Zhenzhen lowered her eyes, the tense scene before she jumped flashing through her mind, making her increasingly uneasy.
The man was clearly at a disadvantage and was completely at a disadvantage, yet he still smiled arrogantly and spoke provocatively.
"After all these years, you actually dare to lay a hand on me. Have you already forgotten the days when you were my dog?"
"There are some things I haven't figured out, and I'm still worried."
"And I... I've kept some things from him, and I haven't had a chance to explain yet." Lin Zhenzhen bit her lip, looked up at the person in front of her, and said, "I don't want to have any misunderstandings with him."
"he"?
Although he knew that the person Lin Zhenzhen was referring to was himself, Gong Yao still felt a strange emotion.
It felt like something small was stuck in his throat; it didn't hurt or itch, but it was enough to make him feel uncomfortable.
"You've got it wrong." Gong Yao lowered his eyelashes, suppressing all his unusual emotions.
"This is a dream. In a dream, you can only feel, not change."
“I can,” Lin Zhenzhen retorted somewhat defiantly, “At least I can speak my mind.”
"Dreaming is not about time travel; everything is already set in stone."
"Even if you can make everything go according to your plan, it will only be temporary."
"It will eventually return to its original trajectory in a winding form at some point in the future."
Gong Yao's tone was almost ruthless, as if he were completely detached from the matter, merely a passing bystander.
Lin Zhenzhen opened her eyes wide in confusion, her expression blank.
"That's why I sometimes have control over this body and sometimes I don't."
"Yes. You may be able to influence the direction of the wind, but you can't control where it ends up. All we can do is accept it."
Lin Zhenzhen suddenly moved her eyes, staring at Gong Yao with a serious expression.
"Since what has happened has already happened, I cannot change it."
"Does that mean that right now, the only person I can hold onto is you?"
Gong Yao was stunned and didn't immediately understand what she meant.
"You say that Gong Yao is just a vanished past, a forgotten chapter, but I don't think so."
Lin Zhenzhen said stubbornly, "He has waited for me for a very long time, and he won't just leave like this."
Gong Yao frowned, his expression seemingly somewhat helpless: "I've said all I can say. What you think is beyond my control."
Lin Zhenzhen's eyes welled up with tears. She seemed to be peering through the person in front of her and seeing the tangled souls of the past.
"I'm sorry, although this was not my intention, I did hurt you."
"But believe me, I really want to go to the beach with you, admire the fireflies covering the mountains with you, watch the sun rise from the sea of clouds with you, sleep in your arms, ride the Ferris wheel with you and see the city at night."
Lin Zhenzhen choked up: "I really want you to be by my side for every birthday from now on."
Gong Yao's expression grew colder and colder: "It seems your memory has become confused. Not only are you mistaking people, but you've also started talking nonsense."
Lin Zhenzhen gently shook her head: "I would never mistake you for someone else."
"I know you've lost many memories of me. But that's okay, one day you'll remember everything that happened."
"I will do everything in my power for you."
