Chapter 48 Jealous Boss in Disguise vs. Arrogant Young Lady (12)

"Ahem." Ning Xiong's old face was a little embarrassed. "How could there be flies in the restaurant? You must be mistaken, kid. Don't talk nonsense."

Fortunately, Bai Qingfeng spoke up in time and turned the page.

"Zhenzhen, didn't you say you wanted to go horseback riding? Do you have time tomorrow?"

"Of course I have time." Bai Qingfeng brought it up on his own initiative, and Lin Zhenzhen continued to flatter him relentlessly, "Even if I don't have time, I'll make time. Brother Bai is always my priority."

[Ding dong! Ning Zhen's character attributes: Bai Qingfeng's simp, filler +5, current progress 65/100, evaluation: Your heart only belongs to your brother]

"Then I'll come pick you up from your house on Saturday?"

“Okay.” Lin Zhenzhen replied with a smile. Thinking of her previous invitation to Lan Jiaocai, she rolled her eyes and said, “A friend of mine wanted to go before, so I’ll invite her to come along.”

Bai Qingfeng nodded generously and said, "Of course, you can invite any of your friends."

They were talking quite loudly, and Chen Shuang, who was a few meters away, heard them and started to make her own plans.

Lin Zhenzhen and Bai Qingfeng's friends are all wealthy and powerful. Although she looks down on these spoiled brats, they are valuable connections when needed.

Thinking of this, she quickly pushed Tan Bei out and said with a smile, "Zhenzhen, if you go out to play, take Xiao Bei with you. He's always cooped up at home studying, and he always needs to go out and relax."

Ning Xiong chimed in, "Yes, you young people should get together more often to build rapport."

Tan Bei, who was at the center of the conversation, remained silent, only casting his gaze in Lin Zhenzhen's direction.

He was born with a pair of upturned, amorous peach blossom eyes, full lips with rounded philtrum, and slightly upturned corners of his mouth.

Even when they're not speaking, they seem to be smiling, gentle, and polite. Lin Zhenzhen calls these kinds of people "smiling tigers."

"Him?" Lin Zhenzhen lifted her eyelids and pouted slightly. "Okay, but can he ride a horse?"

"Zhenzhen." Bai Qingfeng felt that her attitude was impolite, so he chuckled softly and looked up at Tan Bei, saying, "It's okay if you can't ride, I'll teach you later."

"Then I'll have to trouble you, Bai." Tan Bei's eyes crinkled into a smile.

The meal went fairly well, but after returning home, Lin Zhenzhen locked herself in her room.

She lay on the bed, her fluffy head resting on her palm, staring blankly at the crystal chandelier on the ceiling.

Without a doubt, the source of the plot breakdown lies in Tanbei.

I don't know what got into him, but he actually developed feelings for me. Does he have some kind of peculiar fetish—the more you torment him, the more excited he gets?

Thinking this, Lin Zhenzhen immediately got goosebumps on her arms.

There was a sudden knock on the door.

Who is it?

"It's me." Standing outside the door was Tan Bei. "May I come in?"

As she approached, Lin Zhenzhen noticed that he was holding a plate with a bowl of steaming wontons on it.

The broth is simply seasoned with salt, and it's topped with dried shrimp and soaked seaweed. The wontons are visually appealing, and they're garnished with chopped scallions, making them incredibly appetizing.

"I noticed you didn't eat much tonight, so I guessed you weren't full. I'll get you something to eat."

Earlier at the dinner table, Lin Zhenzhen was worried that her large appetite might scare others, and her mind was also focused on the sudden "battlefield" notification from the system.

Indeed, he put down his chopsticks after only a few bites, and only now that he mentioned it did he realize he was hungry.

But looking at the delicious-looking wontons in the bowl, and thinking about Tan Bei's strange personality, some taboo images that needed to be censored kept popping into my mind, and I suddenly lost most of my appetite.

Seeing Lin Zhenzhen's seemingly disdainful scrutinizing gaze, Tan Bei considerately took the bowl back, his bangs obscuring his eyes as he looked down.

“I told my mom you wouldn’t like this kind of food, but she insisted on cooking it and having me bring it to you. It’s okay, I’ll eat it.”

Such superb acting skills, and such a natural transition between topics.

If Lin Zhenzhen hadn't noticed the unwashed flour clumps on his fingers and hadn't heard the deafening notification from the system, she might have actually believed it.

[Ding dong! Good news! Congratulations to the host for unlocking the male lead's first cooking achievement. You have received: a slightly bland wonton.]
