Chapter 7 The Unlucky Wife 7

Lansheng could not have imagined that what was even more upsetting was yet to come.

Wu Yuer came back from a day out. Thinking that she was tired, the young man, who had some kindness, had a good night's sleep.

The next day was a sunny day. I opened my eyes hazily and saw Li Lansheng in the cold room.

The noble young master's Qi cultivation skills were not good enough, and his thin moon-white silk pajamas were half open, but he turned a blind eye and seemed not to notice anything.

His dark eyes fixed on the ground beside the bed.

There was a knock on the door and he called someone in in a cold voice.

Pingping came in with toiletries, walked across the small room, walked slowly and briskly, turned his back to his master who had never said a word, and put down the copper basin in his hand.

Pingping dipped the brocade cloth she was using to wipe her face in water and turned around.

"Master, wipe your face..."

Li Lansheng, lying motionless on the bed, had a gloomy expression on his face, staring blankly at the ground beneath his feet.

Inadvertently meeting the misty eyes of his master, Pingping's words were cut off and he felt so upset and scared.

Everyone in the capital knows that the eighth prince, the legitimate son of the Empress, has a temperament as unpredictable as the clouds in the sky, which makes people feel terrified and frightened.

"What's wrong!"

It was as if he had just seen the person in the room, Li Lansheng, with black hair hanging down at his temples, looking at the dazed and stupid servant from the side.

"I will help my master wash up right away."

Trembling with fear, Pingping clenched the wet handkerchief in his hand and smoothed his unconsciously shaking fingertips.

Carefully and tentatively approached the moody master, serving him with more patience and care than usual.

He served water and put on his clothes, and during the whole process he never raised his eyes to look at his master.

Even if their eyes accidentally met, Pingping would quickly look away the moment they met, avoiding looking at the eyes of the person in a higher position that were filled with anger.

The superiors knew Pingping's fear of Li Lansheng, but they didn't care.

Servants are naturally supposed to fear and respect their masters. Only those servants who are disrespectful and fearless are extremely bold.

In spring, there is abundant rain and everything comes back to life. Xiaofengshan is full of vitality after a long winter.

A lot of new wild vegetables have emerged. Farmers are busy tending to the fields all day long, and they also like to take advantage of their rare free time to go to the mountains to look for some new things.

No matter what, wild fruits, wild flowers, wild vegetables, pick them and take them home to eat fresh and taste the unique delicacies of the season.

Wu Yuer went out early, and it didn't take long for her to fill her backpack up the mountain.

She didn't want to go back too quickly, and by luck, she found a prickly ash by parting the dense grass under her feet.

Wu Yuer, with bright eyes, squatted down and picked a deep red fruit. It was sour and sweet and tasted good.

Farmers don’t usually have many snacks, and having a full meal is the most satisfying thing.

The little girl felt lonely, so she often went up the mountain to look for something sweet and picked a lot of leaves.

Satisfied, he stood up, patted the dirt on his hands, and turned back down the mountain.

When I reached the village entrance, I saw a group of little kids chasing each other and making noise. I turned around and suddenly saw Wu Yuer coming down the mountain.

The little carrot head with bright black eyes paused, saw who was coming, and hurriedly went to greet him warmly.

"Sister Wu, Sister Wu..."

Wu Yuer has a good temper and is very popular among the children in the village.

A few little kids came over with their short legs. Before they arrived, Wu Yuer had a smile in her eyes.

As Little Radish approached, the girl who had taken off the basket from her shoulder took out some freshly picked wild fruits and gave them to the cute Little Radish.

After a while, Little Radish Head, who was enjoying the cool under a big tree at the entrance of the village, took a handful of wild fruits in his little hands and stuffed them into his mouth one bite at a time.

One of the little girls looked at the fruit in her hand with her black eyes, and then looked at her sister Yu Yu who was smiling but not saying a word as she watched them eat the fruit.

The little kid didn't understand why adults always looked regretful and gloating when they mentioned Sister Yu Yu.

Children are very sensitive to adults' emotions. They always talk about how sad it is that Sister Yuyu has been disfigured.

Some people say Sister Yu Yu is ugly, but in the hearts of the boys and girls in Xiaofeng Village.

Sister Yu Yu is obviously the most beautiful, gentle and lovely girl in the world.

"Sister Yuyu, do you want to eat?"

The little girl was very generous. She stretched out her little hands to share the delicious fruit with others.

Wu Yuer smiled, reached out and took one from the little girl's hand and put it into her mouth, a hint of sweetness and sourness lingered in her mouth.

"Sister Yuyu, is your husband good to you?

I heard from the elders in the village that your husband treats you very well and he hasn't left the house for many days. The villagers also said that Sister Yuyu is going to be a mother soon and that when she does, she will have to grow up and study to support the family.

Without waiting for Wu Yuer to react, the other kids started talking in childish language.

"I don't want to be a mother. My mother said that if I become a mother, all the delicious food and drinks will be given to the children. I don't want that!"

The child pouted and looked unwilling.

"Really?! Then I don't want to be a mother anymore."

"Me too, me too!"

"Me too!"

The babies all raised their hands and expressed their gratitude.

Looking at the little boy raising his hand with a serious face, Wu Yuer was speechless. How could a boy be a mother?

There were little kids sitting in a row, and Wu Yuer was about to explain to them.

"Lu Xiaoman, Lu Xiaoman..."

The call came from far away, and the voice sounded strangely familiar. Wu Yuer pulled the backpack behind him and turned around.

Lu Shengping approached quickly. Wu Yuer had her back to him just now, so he couldn't see her clearly.

Now that he could see the person clearly, the young man remembered what had happened between them before and stood there awkwardly, not knowing whether to greet him or not.

Compared to his awkwardness, Wu Yuer was not as cautious as him.

She didn't blame the Lu family for breaking off the engagement. After all, no one owed anyone anything.

Put yourself in her shoes. If she were a normal person, she wouldn't want to be with someone with a disability. It's just human nature.
