A month later, in the small courtyard belonging to the Yan family, Yan Rui, dressed in a cotton-padded coat, rubbed his eyes and got out of bed. His round eyes scanned the surroundings, but he couldn't see any familiar figures. For a moment, his face showed fear and terror.
Then, as if remembering something, the terrified scream on her face gradually disappeared. She got out of bed by herself and started washing up. Foam quickly appeared, forming a small white mustache around her mouth, which looked absolutely adorable against Yan Rui's cute little face.
Wuyou, who had just returned home, put down her shopping basket and couldn't help but smile slightly at the scene. Yan Rui was indeed a pitiful child, a well-behaved and sensible one.
Occupying Liu Wuyou's body, his emotions inevitably affected her to some extent, and she naturally doted on the child.
"Mommy..." Seeing Wuyou's familiar figure, Yan Rui's eyes brightened, and she spoke indistinctly. She quickly tidied herself up and ran over to hug Wuyou's leg.
"Little Rui, Mom will cook for you now. Go back and pack your things for the move." He had already completed the formalities two days ago, selling all of Yan Dabiao's assets. The money would allow them to find a new place and start a new life.
Yan Rui nodded obediently upon hearing this. He had no attachment to this home; all that remained were painful memories. To him, home was wherever his mother was.
Just then, Yan Rui seemed to remember something, and her expression hesitated for a moment. She looked up at Wuyou expectantly, her little hands clasped together, as if she wanted to say something but couldn't.
"What's wrong?" Wuyou bent down and pinched the other's little face, which had finally gained some weight, and asked patiently. She always remembered the principle of being careful and patient with children.
"Mom, can I go find someone to say goodbye before I leave?" Because of her special experiences, Yan Rui is somewhat timid, especially when facing Wu You, she always seems very insecure and does not have the liveliness and cuteness that a child of this age should have.
Saying goodbye? In her memory, Yan Rui had no friends in this village, attended kindergarten intermittently, and was bullied by her peers.
"Of course! Xiao Rui's friend must be just as adorable as Xiao Rui. You can invite him to have dinner with us. Mom didn't do well in the past, and Xiao Rui suffered a lot. Back then, Mom was grateful to him for being there for her."
"That's great!" Yan Rui had never invited a child into his home before. The novel experience made him look surprised and delighted. He jumped up and down a couple of times, but when he realized what he had done, he immediately put his hands behind his back and his cheeks turned red.
"Go ahead!" Wuyou said, her expression unchanged. She patted Yan Rui on the back and turned to go into the kitchen as he looked back every few steps.
Smoke rose from the small courtyard, and the rich aroma of food filled the air. Yan Dabiao, bound tightly like a rice dumpling, was locked in the dark woodshed of the hospital. His mouth was gagged, and he could only make muffled noises. He was so engrossed in the aroma of the food that his saliva was practically dripping from his mouth.
Although he was tightly bound, faint red marks could still be seen on his body, a shocking sight. But compared to the abuse and domestic violence Liu Wuyou suffered, these were nothing.
Wuyou is a top-notch doctor. He knows best where to inject and where to get pain and no marks. He is also ruthless when it comes to tormenting people.
The Yan family's house was located in a relatively remote part of the village, and most of the villagers were busy with farm work. Yan Dabiao's reputation in the village was notoriously bad. When Wuyou beat people, he would often gag them to prevent them from making any sound. A month passed, so no one noticed that Yan Dabiao hadn't left the house for a long time and assumed he was just wandering around outside.
The day after Wuyou caught Yan Dabiao, she and Yan Rui put on a show, pretending to be pitifully bullied. She had no choice but to compromise for her son's sake, staying at the Yan family home to fight for custody with Yan Dabiao.
Recalling what had happened these past few days, Yan Dabiao couldn't stop the tears from falling, sticking to his face and making him look even uglier. He really didn't expect that his wife, whom he had always thought was easy to bully, could be so ruthless when she got angry! This big man of over 1.8 meters was lifted up by her as easily as if she were carrying a chicken; he had never known that this woman had the potential to be a strongwoman.
If he had known earlier that Liu Wuyou possessed such abilities and such interest, he would never have dared to bully her, let alone hit her. Yet, she endured his domestic violence for six or seven years without revealing her true colors. Thinking about it carefully, just how terrifying was this woman, and how exquisitely she disguised herself?
Whenever he was locked in the woodshed, suffering from cold and hunger, Yan Dabiao would always shed tears of regret, silently reflecting on the events of the past few years, feeling more and more remorseful the more he thought about it.
His regret wasn't about beating his wife and scolding his son, but about not being able to beat them to death; otherwise, he wouldn't have ended up in this situation.
But it was too late for him to regret it. His misfortune continued, and he would eventually have to pay the price for his actions.
In the main hall, the mother and son happily ate together, the air filled with the aroma of food and a harmonious atmosphere; in the woodshed, Yan Dabiao silently shed tears, sniffing the aroma of the food, his stomach rumbling, and his body aching slightly.
After a pleasant lunch, Wuyou cleaned up the dishes, while Yanrui helped wipe the table and clean with her little hands and feet. Her well-behaved appearance made people feel affection for her.
After cleaning, Yan Rui sat on a small stool, resting her chin on her hands, gazing longingly at Wu You. Her eyes followed Wu You's movements, making her incredibly adorable.
"Xiao Rui, why are you staring at me like that?" Wu You noticed that the other person's expression was about to change and spoke up. Yan Rui was an extremely insecure child, timid and cowardly. This was the damage inflicted on her by her family of origin, which was difficult to root in. Wu You was also trying her best to help her get rid of this kind of damage.
Beating up Yan Dabiao in front of Yan Rui was a way to vent emotions and let the child know that Yan Dabiao was not an invincible person, but just an ordinary person. It showed that as long as you are strong enough, the other party can do nothing about it.
Sometimes Wuyou would even make Yan Rui do it himself. Of course, a child's strength wouldn't cause any harm, but what was infuriating was that she would deliberately make the child poke at Yan Dabiao's sore spots, even if it was to let the child vent his emotions, it was also to make him deepen his feelings.
A child is like a blank sheet of paper; whatever color you paint on it, that's the color it will become. If Yan Rui's life was once purely black and gray, now it has been stained with a touch of fiery red and the free innocence and tender white of a child.
"Mom, shouldn't Dad be coming out soon?" Yan Rui blinked, her dark pupils staring intently at Wuyou, her eyes full of childlike innocence and naivety.
Yan Dabiao's previous verbal abuse and beatings were a nightmare that Yan Rui could never erase from his life. Even hearing the other man's voice would make him unconsciously fearful. Yan Dabiao had planted a very deep seed in his heart.
Fortunately, this seed is being pulled out little by little until it disappears.
“Yes, we’ll drag Dad out once Mom has packed her things.” Wuyou slowly curled her lips, a deep malice flashing in her dark pupils, like a flower blooming boldly in the night, mixed with intoxicating sweetness and allure.
