Chapter 9 Slapping the Face of the Modern Reborn Immortal Venerable (9)

Jinghai is a major scenic spot in Jinghai City, from which the city derives its name, attracting countless tourists every day.

Today is still a beautiful, sunny day with clear skies and a gentle breeze. Countless people are enjoying the scenery of the lake and mountains from their boats.

"Look—" With a cry of surprise, everyone involuntarily turned their gaze to the lake. There was a moment of silence, followed by a burst of noise.

Am I seeing things?

"My God, is this person a god?"

"How did he manage to walk on the lake?"

"Look, his shoes aren't wet at all."

A cacophony of voices arose, like a drop of oil falling into a frying pan, causing a huge reaction.

An elderly man dressed in a black Tang suit, with his hair and beard a mix of black and white, slowly approached. He walked gracefully across the lake, each step resonating in people's hearts. His cloth shoes remained completely dry. With his hands behind his back and eyes fixed ahead, he paid no heed to the whispers of those around him.

In a short while, the old man had disappeared from everyone's sight, but the astonishment and terror he left behind were unforgettable for everyone.

The elderly man in the Tang suit was none other than Mu Qingfeng, a martial arts master who was once famous throughout China. With his superb martial arts skills and status as a martial arts master, he commanded a large following throughout the country and was known as a martial arts legend.

If his existence hadn't threatened the stability of the country, forcing him to leave China and develop overseas, China probably wouldn't be as peaceful as it is now in recent years.

Mu Qingfeng came across the sea today precisely for his good-for-nothing disciple, Lin Hu. He had been away from China for many years, and those people had probably forgotten his former fame, which was why they had bullied his disciple.

His own disciple had died in China, so naturally he, as the master, could not ignore it.

The news that an old man was coming across the sea quickly spread throughout Jinghai City. Wuyouzhi also received the news immediately and was not too surprised.

Mu Qingfeng came across the sea for three reasons: first, to intimidate everyone and show the return of this veteran martial arts master; second, to warn Ye Fan and spread his fearsome reputation; and third, to avenge his unfortunate disciple.

Mu Qingfeng stood with his hands behind his back on the lake, his Tang suit fluttering in the wind. He exuded an indescribable domineering aura. He slightly raised his eyes and parted his lips, letting out a deep voice that instantly spread throughout the entire Jinghai City.

"Ye Fan, three days from now at noon, on the surface of Jinghai Lake, this old man, Mu Qingfeng, will issue the challenge—"

In the Mo family compound, Old Master Mo was playing chess in the courtyard when he heard this familiar yet unfamiliar voice. His hand trembled slightly, and a chess piece fell instantly, disrupting the entire game.

"Dad..." Mo Zhengqi, the head of the Mo family, also heard the voice and his face turned pale. He had heard of Mu Qingfeng's name since he was a child.

"He... still came." Old Master Mo sighed, his hands hanging at his sides trembling slightly. As someone from the same era as Mu Qingfeng, he knew how terrifying the other man was.

He knew Ye Fan was a powerful martial arts master, but he was too young, only 20 years old, while Mu Qingfeng was an old monster who had lived for many years. He was already a martial arts master many years ago, so what level would he be at now?

He didn't know... but he did know. A fierce battle was about to break out in Jinghai City.

"The world is about to change." The barely audible murmur drifted away on the wind, as if it had never existed.

Inside the study of a villa, Wuyou was wearing a light-colored dress, her hair was piled up high, and her slender, fair fingers were playing with a white porcelain vase in her palm, her eyes focused and serious.

"It's slower than I expected," she murmured softly, her voice devoid of any emotion. "How's Green Tea?"

“Young Miss, Green Tea has recovered from her injuries and is heading to Jinghai City with Ye Fan. She should be back within three days.” The middle-aged man standing to the side stood upright, his head slightly lowered, and beneath his fine black hair were a pair of calm, unwavering eyes.

"Make your move—" Wuyou's eyes flashed slightly, and she gave the order without hesitation.

In truth, the major families in China are a disorganized mess, each with their own ideas and motives, and each with their own powerful backers. Only the hidden families have the ability to forcibly suppress them, but unfortunately, the hidden families are also riddled with internal conflicts, so they can only put the matter aside.

Now that he is in control, most families have chosen to submit. After all, the reputation of the Le family is not to be underestimated. At the very least, the Le family is not one that Ye Fan can shake.

Otherwise, given Ye Fan's arrogance and domineering nature, how could he possibly tolerate Le Wuyou, who had offended him, acting arrogantly and domineeringly in the Le family? He was merely lying low for now, waiting for the right moment.

"The Mo family..." Wuyou's eyes suddenly went blank. She still admired the Mo family's talent, but if they were unwilling to submit, there was only one path to take.

"Have you found out where Mu Qingfeng is living now?"

"Mu Qingfeng is currently living in Qin Fang's house, being treated to the best of food and drink. After all, Mu Qingfeng's disciple died because of Qin Fang's family."

"Send a visiting card, and while you're at it, give them a good talking-to." Wuyou waved for the steward to leave, and the steward bowed respectfully as he departed.

The Qin family was once considered a second-rate family in Jinghai City. Of course, that was then. Now, the Qin family is like a drowning dog, especially after their youngest son was killed by Ye Fan. They have been suppressed by the Mo family to the point of being unable to raise their heads.
