Chapter 116 The Ugly Husband (Part 3)

He turned his head, his narrow eyes flashing with a sharp, piercing light, and suddenly asked, "What's wrong, little servant?"

The eldest princess was taken aback. Seeing the imposing and composed man staring straight at her, she suddenly felt like she had betrayed her sister.

"It's getting late. I promised to have dinner with your brother-in-law." She quickly patted her younger sister's frail shoulder, who looked bewildered and hadn't heard a thing, and hurried away.

Shen Wangshu looked up at the sun high in the sky and murmured, "Isn't dinner a bit early?" However, she was quite happy that no one was there to be a third wheel for her and Fang Xuan. Seeing him silently walking beside her and watching her, she took his hand and whispered, "My reputation in the capital isn't very good; there are all sorts of rumors. But you have to believe me, you're the only one in my heart."

.

She lowered her head, untied a piece of red thread from her wrist, hooked her little finger with Fang Xuan's, and looked at the red thread, her eyes narrowing into slits with a smile.

"A marriage destined from afar is tied by a single thread." She winked at Fang Xuan.

"Little servant, is this what happened?" Fang Xuan asked suddenly, wrapping the red thread around his little finger.

Shen Wangshu coughed abruptly.

However, this was the work of the former Third Princess, so Shen Wangshu felt a pang of guilt before speaking with righteous indignation, "It was bestowed upon me by Consort Lin! These little vixens are constantly stuffing their families into my palace, you should know what they're up to. I used to be soft-hearted and tolerated it, but now that I have you, I absolutely cannot allow such people to still be an eyesore in your palace." She calmly shifted the blame onto Consort Lin, and seeing that Fang Xuan's lips curled slightly, seemingly quite pleased, she quickly tiptoed and kissed Fang Xuan's chin when no one was around.

It was too high; I couldn't even touch her lips.

But even such a frivolous kiss immediately made Fang Xuan blush.

This slightly shy look was truly a rare sight. Shen Wangshu looked at Fang Xuan with a smile, feeling that she really should kiss him a few more times.

"Come kiss me." She pouted, looked up, and hummed softly with her eyes closed.

"This is how you act cute." A clear light flashed in Fang Xuan's eyes before disappearing without a trace. Although he knew that people would blame him for being shameless if they saw it, he still couldn't help but lick his dry lips, lower his head, and press his lips against Chen Wangshu's soft and tender lips.

During the kiss, he seemed to tremble all over; all his decisiveness and imposing presence vanished, replaced by the anxious longing of a man yearning to be loved by the woman he adored. He kissed her, his entire face turning crimson, yet his eyes shone brightly like stars.

Shen Wangshu clearly saw the love for him in those eyes.

She smiled and licked her lips, saying softly, "It tastes pretty good."

Fang Xuan's face turned even redder. He came to his senses from his impulsiveness and didn't know what to do with himself. He was also reluctant to leave her, so he could only follow behind her step by step.

He flattered her carefully, and Shen Wangshu felt as if time had flowed by, as if all her memories were still yesterday, the carefree feeling of walking down the street with her lover. They strolled casually through the imperial court, one tall and imposing, the other in flowing robes, a striking couple wherever they went, with people frequently casting glances at Shen Wangshu.

One is beautiful, the other is ugly, and the contrast is truly stark.

Shen Wangshu didn't care about other people's gazes towards her; she only looked worriedly in Fang Xuan's direction.

However, since she was by his side, Fang Xuan felt completely at ease, not caring at all about what others thought.

He was used to being disliked by others and used to treat these people as nothing, never taking them to heart. He only felt uneasy and inferior when facing his lover.

Seeing that Shen Wangshu showed him no disdain whatsoever, Fang Xuan became even more imposing, completely losing his timidity.

.

The maids of the Prince Luan's mansion followed miserably from afar, watching their prince seemingly change his ways, becoming extremely attentive and considerate to General Fang, and they didn't know what to say.

Who would have thought that after being surrounded by beautiful women, the King of Luan would have such a dramatic change in his taste and fall in love with an ugly man?

Since she likes him, isn't this ugly man a stroke of good fortune?

Who else in the world would marry him but the Phoenix King?

Shen Wangshu couldn't hear the maids' inner grumbling. She was only satisfied that she and Fang Xuan could be together openly. However, just as she was picking and choosing at a small stall, holding up two beautiful silver rings, and had already bargained with the pale-faced stall owner down from ten coins to six coins, feeling quite pleased with herself, she heard a sharp scream coming from afar. Then came the neighing of horses, the rumble of wheels, and some panicked cries for help and screams. She subconsciously turned her head and her eyes widened in shock.

A carriage, pulled by two horses that had inexplicably gone mad, came hurtling towards them, swaying precariously as if it were about to overturn at any moment.

The two horses were tall and powerful, and in the blink of an eye they arrived in front of Shen Wangshu and Fang Xuan.

Shen Wangshu felt a flash before her eyes, and a tall figure firmly protected her behind him. She saw the man exhale a deep breath and move like lightning. Just as the two horses were galloping towards Shen Wangshu, he reached out and grabbed the reins tightly.

He was incredibly strong; he managed to hold the reins of both horses firmly, making them neigh defiantly as he pressed them to their feet. The carriage also stopped, and from inside came the trembling, fearful cries of a boy, a soft murmur that evoked a sense of pity.

Men, when faced with trouble, should just cry and show their fear; why did he have to stop a horse in the street...?

With that much power, who would dare...?

"I feel like I love you even more now." Shen Wangshu admired Fang Xuan's handsome figure, and then looked at his muscular arms with their high bulges, and couldn't help but swallow silently.

Since becoming the third princess, she felt that she had been influenced to become more and more lustful.

Just as she was about to shamelessly touch that arm that made her heart itch, she saw the curtain of the carriage suddenly be slightly lifted by a snow-white finger. Then, a handsome young man in white, with a hint of stubbornness in his eyes, peeked out with reddened eyes.

His gaze swept over Fang Xuan, and when it landed on Shen Wangshu, he seemed to hold his breath for a moment. Then he stood up and bowed solemnly, saying, "Thank you for saving me, Miss. I will never forget your kindness today and will never dare to let you down!" He looked up and smiled at Shen Wangshu.

A smile that could topple a city.

Shen Wangshu squinted and stared at the young man.

Just as the two were staring at each other, a sudden neighing sound rang out, and a tall, docile horse suddenly broke free from Fang Xuan's restraints and turned to kick the carriage.

The carriage shook, and the handsome young man exclaimed in surprise before disappearing behind the curtain.

Shen Wangshu silently looked at Fang Xuan, who had an honest and kind face.

"The reins weren't firmly held."

Fang Xuan explained even more honestly and sincerely.

"It wasn't intentional."
