Chapter 142 Heavenly Emperor (Part Two)

This swift and decisive betrayal of the Heavenly Emperor left Wangshu Shaojun speechless.

She was quite worldly-wise, yet she had never encountered such a bachelor.

It seems this loyal young man truly wants to die; otherwise, having betrayed the Heavenly Emperor like this, he would surely face dire consequences if he didn't die.

"There is no personal grudge between me and Xuanxi," Wang Shu Shaojun said calmly, his eyes lowered. "The two sides are enemies, and it is fate for each of us to live or die."

In fact, she quite admired this Xuanxi Heavenly Lord, after all, he was able to fight her to a standstill, truly deserving of the title of War God of the Three Realms.

Moreover, he was quite upright, which she truly admired.

However... since this was a feud between the Celestial Court and the Northern Divine Kingdom, she couldn't let him off so easily.

"Wangshu, forget it. Let's go apologize to the Heavenly Emperor and beg him..."

The refined young man beside him had barely uttered those words when he met a pair of ruthless and cold eyes.

The cold tip of the sword was pressed against his throat.

"Dare to say another word, and I'll kill you, even if it means my soul and body are destroyed!"

Upon hearing the woman's icy voice, Immortal Lord Qingyuan pursed his lips and had no choice but to step aside.

There was nothing in front of him; not a single demonic beast came to protect him.

Monsters are naturally inclined to worship ruthless and powerful figures. In order to become stronger or to follow a powerful figure, they will risk their lives to follow her and serve her as their master.

Although the master of the Northern Divine Kingdom is Immortal Lord Qingyuan, it is clear that Young Lord Wangshu is more revered by the demon beasts. For example, right now, the demon beasts would rather die in battle than return to the Celestial Court, groveling before the Heavenly Emperor without dignity, becoming stepping stones driven by humans and losing their lives inexplicably.

They may know that Immortal Lord Qingyuan yearns for peace, but they do not agree with it. Therefore, they even refuse to protect Immortal Lord Qingyuan, because in their hearts, even though he holds the jade seal of the Nameless Immortal and has their support, he is still not considered their lord.

Immortal Lord Qingyuan understood this principle as well. His gaze dimmed slightly, and he lowered his eyes, revealing a hint of pity.

He didn't understand why even the Heavenly Emperor would rebel over a mere squabble.

Wang Shu Shaojun's empty eyes fell on something further away, and then her expression suddenly changed slightly.

"Are you willing to be a hostage?" she suddenly asked.

It was as if the hesitation from before had never occurred.

"Heavenly Lord!"

Amidst the worried gazes of countless celestial guards, Xuanxi Heavenly Lord smiled slightly.

His usually aloof face, when it broke into a smile, seemed to illuminate the world; his instant brilliance even amazed Wang Shu Shaojun.

"right."

"I don't trust you." Wang Shu Shaojun said calmly, his eyes narrowed as he recovered from that smile.

"I swear to you that my soul belongs to you. If I betray you, you can make me vanish into nothingness with a single thought." Xuanxi Tianjun seemed exceptionally ruthless towards himself. There hadn't been such a fool tens of thousands of years ago who would even hand over his soul to another just to gain their trust.

Wang Shu Shaojun wondered if she had misheard, but looking into those clear, cold eyes, she narrowed her eyes and thought for a moment before nodding slightly and saying, "Okay." She didn't need anyone else to refuse; she raised her hand and a wisp of spiritual light fell between Xuanxi Tianjun's brows.

That spark of inspiration landed smoothly on his soul.

From then on, she held the power of life and death over Xuanxi Tianjun.

The handsome, aloof young man and the imposing woman both wore faint smiles.

At the same time, from beyond the heavens, across countless star seas, a roar of extreme anger suddenly came. A giant hand broke through countless voids and came down from the sky, while another hand forcefully struck the sky above this place.

The heavens shattered, fierce winds raged, and even space itself was shaken apart.

The giant handprint, formed from gathered spiritual energy, paused slightly before furiously lashing out at Wang Shu Shaojun.

She tilted her head back, unmoving, a confident smile playing on her lips.

"If I die, Xuanxi Tianjun will die with me! If the Heavenly Emperor is willing to sacrifice his only disciple, he may kill me." She said sharply, her neck stiff.

The large hand hesitated, its imposing presence and power lingering over Wang Shu Shaojun's head.

The emperor, who seemed to be high above the thirty-three heavens, separated by countless worlds, hesitated and even hesitated to act for fear of harming the innocent because of this small threat.

He could have wiped out the Northern Divine Kingdom with a single blow.

But he couldn't.

"You knew all along!" The Heavenly Emperor's wrath shook people's souls, making them feel powerless against his majesty and as if they were about to commit suicide before him.

What's even more infuriating is that the Heavenly Emperor was just one step away from breaking through the great formation and saving them all, yet Wangshu Shaojun had already signed a contract with Xuanxi Tianjun beforehand. This was no coincidence; clearly, Wangshu Shaojun knew he couldn't withstand the Heavenly Emperor's attack and therefore deceived Xuanxi Tianjun first. Such rage almost brings blood to one's eyes.

"He's just stupid, who can he blame?" Wang Shu Shaojun chuckled, looked up at the young man he had tricked and then contracted with, and said indifferently, "Come here."

The young man couldn't hold him back, and Xuanxi Tianjun obediently flew to Wangshu Shaojun's side.

The giant palm print instantly transformed into specks of spiritual light and vanished before everyone's eyes.

"Now that the great formation has been broken, you should return to the Celestial Court," Xuanxi Heavenly Lord instructed the Celestial Guards who were floating helplessly in the clouds.

This was a sliver of hope that he had won with his freedom and the intervention of the Heavenly Emperor himself, yet none of the celestial guards turned away; they remained silently before him.
