Chapter 16 Imperial Concubine Jin'an (Part Two)

It is impolite not to reciprocate.

Since you're using her as a shield, don't blame me for retaliating in kind.

Shen Wangshu touched her exquisite and luxurious palace dress, a cold glint in her eyes.

Hearing the eunuchs' wails, she felt a little relieved. As if the beating had been too severe, the eunuchs' voices gradually subsided. Without even raising her eyebrows, she noticed that the palace maids and eunuchs serving her all had tense expressions, as if they were frightened by her cold-bloodedness and ruthlessness, but they didn't seem to care.

She raised her hand, and the clever palace maid Ah Xiang happily served her tea. Why bother with these palace maids who instilled fear in her at first glance? Just as she was making this decision, a guard strode in to report.

"Did she faint?" she asked casually.

"Yes." These... those arrogant eunuchs have offended the guards quite a bit in the past, and now that they've abused their power and punished them so harshly, the guards feel quite embarrassed.

"Since they are not dead, it is their good fortune. So let them be thrown out of my palace and fend for themselves." Shen Wangshu slowly turned her gaze to the outside of the palace, her bright red lips curving slightly as she said in a gentle voice, "Heaven has the virtue of cherishing life, so I will naturally make an exception for them."

Having offended so many people in the palace in the past, how could the Imperial Concubine, who was high above everyone else, possibly know what fate awaited her after losing power?

I was just being kind and letting them go.

"Yes." Seeing that the imperial concubine had no intention of making a fuss, the guard hurriedly lowered his head and left.

He had just stepped out of the palace gate when he heard another sharp sound from outside, followed by the cracking of whips. Before the smell of blood in the palace could dissipate, and before the dying eunuch could be dragged away, a bright yellow whirlwind flashed at the doorway, and a handsome, imposing young man rushed in with a face full of anger.

He was dressed in a bright yellow dragon robe, which was dazzling. He was only about twenty years old, but his brows already showed a lot of shrewdness. However, even with his shrewdness, the anger on his face was shocking and made people feel uneasy. Who dared to anger the emperor?

The supreme emperor rushed to sit down next to Shen Wangshu and swept all the teapots and teacups off the table.

Amidst the ear-piercing sound of the porcelain hitting the ground, the palace maids and eunuchs fell silent, fearing they would be caught in the crossfire. For a moment, the palace was utterly quiet, and whoever the emperor looked at would lower their eyes in fear and unease.

Shen Wangshu, however, felt no fear and was indifferent to the emperor's rage beside him. He did not ask why the emperor had returned, and casually examined his bright red fingers, feeling content and at ease.

This is the emperor whom the imperial concubine deeply loved, loved to the extreme, even disregarding her own safety and security, and was willing to stand up against the regent whom the emperor feared most.

Emperor Hui.

This same emperor used her as his vanguard. Whenever he clashed with the regent in the court, he would come to her palace in a fit of rage to pour out his grievances, even shedding tears, asking her to feel sorry for him and stand up for him against the regent.

She was just a woman. The regent might not be able to do anything to a woman, but he would certainly dislike her.

Therefore, when she fell out of favor with Emperor Hui and was loathed by the Regent, there was no one in the world who dared to say a good word for her.

Emperor Hui returned in a rage, his eyes red with anger, clearly because the Regent had just given him a hard time in the previous court.

Shen Wangshu felt utter contempt for Emperor Hui, a useless piece of trash, and couldn't believe that someone who only knew how to scheme against a woman was actually a noble emperor. He clearly possessed the most noble status and the most powerful authority in the land, yet he was suppressed and rendered helpless by a regent, lacking even the slightest bit of courage. If he were merely a puppet controlled by the regent, Shen Wangshu wouldn't despise Emperor Hui so much.

Anyone who dares to disregard the emperor's authority will be killed. Those who act like scheming women are no wonder they can only serve as decorations.

Throughout history, those great emperors who achieved hegemony were born with an aura and majesty that would not tolerate anyone sleeping soundly beside their beds. Even if we cannot wipe out the regent's faction, surely we can trap and kill him alone?

They're just cowardly and weak, they don't dare to.

Shen Wangshu's beautiful eyes darted around, becoming even less interested in the panting Emperor Hui beside her. She noticed the palace maid, A Xiang, seemed to have ducked behind her when the Emperor entered. She raised an eyebrow, gave her a playful look, and reached out. The latter, as if knowing her thoughts, quickly brought over an exquisite silver mirror. Shen Wangshu looked into the mirror and, for the first time, clearly saw her face in this life.

In the silver mirror was the face of a stunningly beautiful woman, her beauty striking and her brilliance dazzling.

Her hair was as black as ink, her cheeks as white as snow, and her red lips and black hair exuded a fierce charm and dazzling beauty.

Even Shen Wangshu was captivated by the breathtakingly beautiful face reflected in the silver mirror, a face whose every smile and frown exuded ultimate beauty.

However, this beauty was too dazzling, like the scorching sun burning one, seemingly always poised to attack. A man might be momentarily captivated by such a woman's appearance, but if even her temperament was fiery, she would likely be less appealing than a woman as gentle as water. Thinking of Emperor Hui's true love, a woman of simple elegance and gentleness, Shen Wangshu's lips curled into a smile.

The beauty reflected in the silver mirror also revealed an extremely gorgeous and arrogant smile.

"Your Majesty is so beautiful." Ah Xiang carefully held the silver mirror, looking at Shen Wangshu with extreme admiration.

"What are you doing?!" Before Ah Xiang could finish speaking, Emperor Hui had already asked patiently from the side.

He was so angry that his eyes almost bled, but the Imperial Concubine only knew how to look at herself in the mirror! If this heartless woman weren't still useful, he would have deposed her long ago!
